Gale Anne Hurd on the Future of The Hulk
Source:MTV October 24, 2008

MTV chatted with The Incredible Hulk producer Gale Anne Hurd, who said she has every intention on making a follow-up and that Edward Norton is signed on:

"It's all going to depend on the screenplay and where his character goes in any sequel, because he does have a multiple-picture deal," she said of Norton, who told us recently that he's waiting to hear from Marvel regarding Hulk's future. "[Norton's situation] is the same with every franchise like this, when you have one of the top actors of his generation."

But first, you're likely going to see him in The Avengers:

"Next, he's likely to appear in an 'Avengers' movie, but that's completely up to Marvel," she explained. "It's wonderful that Marvel now controls so many of their own characters, and they can create a Marvel universe in film and populate it with so many of their characters who naturally exist together. I think an 'Avengers' film is a very exciting prospect."

Could this have something to do with the awesome dvd sales TIH has been getting?

Thank God!

Edward Norton IS Bruce Banner. He KILLED it! Bring on the Leader!

I'm very excited.

good news indeed, hopefully she's not talking out of context, but I think she's for real. Producers are usually pretty up to date on these things. Their the backbone of movies.

,

?

Looking at the box-office results, it's strange, how the world goes...
Actually, I'm only interested in a TIH sequel rather than Iron Man 2 or Batman 3.

Just because a producer says she wants to make a sequel doesn't mean Marvel want to. Gale Anne Hurd doesn't work for Marvel. Kevin Feige does and he has said TIH2 isn't part of Marvel's current plans but it is possible that after The Avengers Hulk starts getting his solo films.

Yes it is good news that she wants to make a sequel, Norton is waiting to hear on a sequel, Leterrier would love to make a sequel, all of the cast will return for a sequel and have multi-picture contracts and that Universal say they think TIH has performed well enough to warrant a franchise.

But the final word is with Marvel.

Untill they say "we are making TIH2" for whenever, there is no sequel.

I think they were saying it wasn't in the current plans cause of the b.o. I think that if this movie had done IM type numbers they would CHANGE their plans. Alas, i think the current demand of the dvd's is making Marvel re-think that line up. I actually heard somewhere that either Thor, or Cap was getting pushed back...i think, so i believe nothing is really set in stone yet.

Now, I'm relieved. Whew. I'm so glad that we are getting a sequel! :)

Ed Norton was right about those deleted scenes from TIH. So, Marvel should man up, apologize and hope everyone is happy for Avengers and Hulk 2. Keep all the character development AND the action next time around. TIH has done quite well in DVD sales because word of mouth has been so good. It would've been even better had they left a few of those deleted scenes in tact.

As is the movie is a solid 8.5/10

Adding more emotional depth = 10/10

So, a sequel would be even better if done right.

Agreed.

To say that I would be stoked to see Norton return as Banner is an understatement; not counting any chickens yet but Hurd's comments give me hope.

As a hulk fan I thougth that the cock up with this past hulk film would be more than enough. Hulk just isnt a big blockbuster movie, end. Maybe a tv show again, or perhaps an animated movie. The past film was just a moish mash of cack if were honest. It made no sense and was clearly over edited making the story disapear up it own arse. Well done all the so called smarties on here who knew what was going to happen lol. Those who claimed to work on set and have inside knowledge were as wrong as you can be.

Well,I've done watched the Hulk twice today on my PC,I'm at work and I'm going to watch it again in blu-ray later tonight when I get home.Amazing how much you can appreciate Edward Norton's acting the second and third time around.....:cwink:

Yep. I felt that Ed Norton was indeed Bruce Banner. Especially watching those deleted scenes, even more so.

Agreed, except 1 small point... I gave the movie a 9/10 :oldrazz: :cwink:

'As a Hulk fan'?

You can smell the Bull$#!+ too? :o

Hell yeah; that post by 'Ilovestuff' dissing TIH positively reeked of the stuff.

Maybe this reeks more so

Very disapointing. Poorly edited, weak story, lame ending. This is why Batman will always be a superior movie franchise. Marvel knew this hence the lack of marketing budget. Dont expect a follow up any time soon. That is of course unless Hulk scores well in the avengers movie.

I smell a Bat Fan Boy

YES!!! I just finished watching TIH (again) and am quite happy with the news!!
Bring on Professor Hulk! (Yes, I stupidly believe that Banner becomes Professor Hulk in the end scene where his eye are green and he smiles)

I have an even greater appreciation for his work after watching all the DVD bonus material. I've watched that "making of" documentary stuff twice. He did a great job. I wonder if Marvel would trust him with Avengers? Favreau going all out on IM2 until mid 2010 has to mean that he's out as Avengers director.

Avengers isn't happening until when... 2012? I wouldn't count Jon Favreau out just yet.

However, I'm betting they go with someone who hasn't directed any Marvel movies yet. That way they can ensure The Avengers will be "fresh". Plus, does anyone else think The Avengers movie should be the first time we get introduced to Captain America? I'm really not in favor of that "First Avenger: Captain America" title for his solo film. I think Cap should get his own solo films after The Avengers movie comes out.

I don't even want to watch the deleted scenes. I thought the movie was great, I don't want to take away from that by spoiling it with "if only" scenes.

However, I'll totally be first in line if a director's cut comes out!

2011 I believe? For the directors, I'd probably say either take the director from the most successful franchise (which would probably be Iron Man), or use somebody new.

Another option would be to go all Sin City/Superman and have multiple directors, each one from each franchise taking a portion, but that often messes with the stability and tightness of a film.

Batman Begins also had the misfortune of following a horrible movie, and only made something like 200 million domestically, yet it was an awesome movie and generated one of the best, and most successful movies ever as a sequel. Incredible Hulk wasn't as successful, but then again, Hulk isn't as popular as Batman. It's a step in the right direction, it's brought Hulk back to the public, and Marvel probably sees that.

Gale Anne Hurd doesn't work for Marvel.
She produced both Hulks and both Punishers. I'd say she's on the in with Marvel.
