I guess this would have been more suited for the relationship thread, but have you ever dated someone and everyone told you (or told them) that you could do better than who you're with?

In every relationship I've had at some point some jackass tells the girl she can do better then she does. **** my life.

Yeah. But most of my friends were of the adage of letting me learn from my own mistakes.

**** those bastards . They either want to get in your chicks pants or your significant other "supposedly" sucks .

Sure it's happened, but then you declare that it's really none of their business and they have poor judgement. Then you move on, hold your lady and go out to dinner or something.

"You can do better" is the number one tool of in the "Just friends" arsenal. if some *****e-nozzle tells your girl this, you're doing something right. :o

What if you're the one saying it to someone?

Two guys that I dated before Spoons a lot of people told me I was too good for.

oh i have. i have definitely been in that position. and though yes it may be true, the fact is, is that you are probably never going to change her mind. every guy who utters those words to his lady friend hopes that the convo'll go a little something like, "you're right. i do deserve someone who can treat me right. someone who has always been there for me. someone... like you!":yay:
alas. im gonna venture to guess that no conversation in the history of man has ever worked out like that. ever.

Oh, definitely
Many times I was told I should leave my girlfriend (at that time), whilst she was in the company of my friends, too.
They really continued when she had mentioned there were photos of her, doing naked lesbian stuff...
...it's funny, that no matter how much lesbian porn you've seen, when you're faced with the fact your woman has done it, it's just...weird.

It's happened in pretty much every relationship i've been in.

See you have to systematically break their self esteem and lower their self worth by convincing them they can't do better.

What really hurt is when my Mom told a former Girl that she was too good for me. :(

Thanks B*itch.

KIDDING

Once the "you could do better" bomb is dropped it's only a matter of time.

exactly. form a symbiotic relationship. parasitic, even. :o

Oh yeah.
Friends and family have told me, often.

I've said it a few times to a woman I've known, but to no use she'd stay with the guy, he'd do her wrong, then she'd come to me and complain about it.

It was like a vicious cycle until one day I decided to no longer be her friend.
