More GFW Impact Spoilers

GFW’s Impact Wrestling continued taping on Sunday at Orlando’s Universal Studios backlot (aka the Impact Zone). This continued the Jim Cornette-led build toward October’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view (PPV).

These results are compiled from a variety of live reports, which are subject to a couple levels of interpretation, and final production of the material for airing on television usually changes context, so...

Take these with a grain of salt, is all I’m saying. Still the big matches, winners/losers and story beats are here.

Filmed Sunday, Aug. 20 for probable broadcast Sept. 14, 21 and 28:

- Dezmond Xavier pinned X-Division champ Trevor Lee in a non-title 6Way which also featured Petey Williams, Matt Sydal, Garza Jr and Sonjay Dutt.

- The women get one of those segments where everyone makes their case for a title shot. Champ Sienna starts by lobbying for Hall of Fame induction at Bound for Glory, which brings out Gail Kim looking for a rematch. Taryn Terrell cuts her off to say Gail’s never beaten her. Finally, Allie says her hard work should earn her a title shot. Karen Jarrett comes out and books a 4Way for BFG.

- Johnny Impact def. Texano

- oVe def. LAX to win the GFW tag team titles (the “Victory Road” graphics were up for this, so expect it on that episode - believed to be 9/14)

- Jeremy Borash reveals accusations that Joseph Park has been stealing from Grado. Park denies this, shoves Borash and rails against the crowd. Jeremy says there will be a “trial” later tonight.

- Matt Sydal, Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt def. Andrew Everett, Caleb Konley and Trevor Lee (Sydal pinned Everett)

- Afterwards, Dutt challenges Lee to a title fight at BFG. Williams and Sydal both want that match, too, and the segment ends with the winning babyface team arguing.

- oVe def. Jon Bolen and Trey Miguel

- James Storm, Allie and Dezmond Xavier def. Andrew Everett, Texano and Sienna (Storm pinned Everett)

- The in-ring trial of Joseph Park nets a confession, with Park admitting he’s been stealing from Grado and saying he has his visa. He proposes a match for BFG - if Grado wins, he stays. If he loses, he gets deported back to the UK. Grado signs the contract, then Park reveals he’ll have to face Abyss in a Monster’s Ball match at the PPV.

- The “Victory Road” logos are back up for a promo from James Storm. The Cowboy says the AAA wrestlers disrespect him because they know he’s the best in GFW. Texano interrupts, which gets a “USA” chant from the crowd, but Storm shuts it down saying it’s not America vs. Mexico because we’re all humans. Texano and Storm brawl, with El Hijo de Fantasma running in to assist his fellow luchador. Fantasma says he supports Global Force but AAA is the best in the world. Ethan Carter III runs out to save his old rival Storm, and they shake hands after chasing Texano and Fantasma off.

- Sienna, Taryn Terrell and Taya def. Rosemary, Gail Kim and Allie (Sienna pinned Allie) in another “Victory Road” match

- Eli Drake def. Johnny Impact to retain the GFW World title in another “Victory Road” match. The match was said to have ref bumps and interference by Chris Adonis.

- Post-match, Drake and Adonis attack Johnny, but Garza Jr. comes to his aid. LAX shows up to beat him down. During the ensuing melee, Adonis attacks some referees, and he and the champ end up standing tall.

Take these with a grain of salt, is all I’m saying. Still the big matches, winners/losers and story beats are here.

Filmed Monday, Aug. 21 for probable broadcast in October:

- Ethan Carter III def. Moose via roll-up in a non-title match filmed for Xplosion

- James Storm def. Caleb Konley (Xplosion)

- World champ Eli Drake is out with Chris Adonis for a promo to start the Impact portion of the taping. He brags about beating Johnny Impact at “Victory Road” and trash talks Jim Cornette for making him work Mexico and Japan. He’s off tonight, but Adonis has a match.

- Garza Jr. def. Chris Adonis via disqualification when Impact. Adonis was in control up until the run-in, and Johnny also hits Garza during his assault. They’re separated by officials, and Cornette comes out to make a #1 contender match for “next week” between Impact and Garza - the winner gets Drake at Bound for Glory.

- A Taryn Terrell promo on Gail Kim leads to a brawl between the two.

- Rosemary def. Hannah Harper, and then calls out Taya Valkyrie. Taya quickly hits her finisher on the former champ.

- LAX (Santana, Ortiz, Diamante and Konnan) demands a rematch against oVe for the tag titles. The champs agree, and tell Konnan to name his match. He picks a 51/50 Street Fight, which Diamante explains is all of LAX vs. just the Crist brothers. They fight and the challengers stand tall.

- Trevor Lee def. Suicide in a non-title match

- Johnny Impact def. Garza Jr. and will face Eli Drake for the World title at BFG. Reportedly a well-received, lucha libre-style match. Impact raised Garza’s hand at the end, then was laid out by Chris Adonis.

- Dezmond Xavier def. Andrew Everett. Everett was accompanied by X-Division champ Lee and Caleb Konley, who interfered on his behalf often.

- Jeremy Borash arrived to announce the Hall of Fame entrant for BFG, but was cut off by American Top Team. They want a match made for the PPV

- King Mo and Lashley against Moose and Stephan Bonnar*. The UFC Hall of Famer arrives with Moose, but Lashley attacks them from behind. A beatdown by ATT ensues, and a number of GFW stars run in to try and stop it (various report name Lee, Konley, Everett and Mahabali Shera), but they’re all dispatched and Lashley’s crew holds the ring.

- Johnny Impact def. Chris Adonis via pinfall. Eli Drake tries for the sneak attack but ends up getting whipped with his own belt before Adonis recovers to give the heels the numbers. Garza Jr. makes the save, chasing the champ and his sidekick off with a chair to close the show.

* Reports are ALL OVER THE PLACE about this match, with some saying it’s Shane Sewell and not Bonnar (although there is definitely a picture of Moose and The American Psycho from the taping), or that Mo is teaming with Moose. The above makes the most sense to me from past booking (like Mo cornering Lashley at Slammiversary), but will update as soon as the various sources gain some clarity.

Thanks to Wrestling Inc. reader Edward Ritlop for sending in these results from tonight's Impact Wrestling tapings, which should air in late October and early November:

XPLOSION:

1. Chris Adonis vs "The Cowboy" James Storm. Lots of shortcuts-eye gouging, back scratching by Adonis. Late in the match, Adonis tries for the Adonis Lock, but The Cowboy bites his hand & Adonis turns around into a Last Call. Good match to start off.

2. Ava Storie vs Rosemary. Solid match from both. Storie applied a Regal Stretch, but Rosemary reversed it into a Last Chancery. Rosemary wins with the Red Wedding. Ava looked really sharp in the ring.

3. Caleb Konley vs Mahabali Shera. Shera wins with the Sky High. He's actually improved a lot this past year.

Impact Tapings:

Josh Matthews joins JB in the ring to hype Bound For Glory. Lots of boos for Josh as usual. He didn't stick around long & went to the back. I think they're doing commentary in the back/studio again since there's no announce desk ringside. It's also Latin Night in the Impact Zone.

1. Booby Lashley (w/ Dan Lambert) vs Moose. Moose is accompanied by Stephan Bonnar. Good back and forth match with Moose winning by DQ after Lambert hits him with a small trophy. Moose is attacked after the match by Lashley. Lambert tries to go after Bobby but members of American Top Team are on him, but Moose gets a steel chair and tosses one of the group onto the rest. Moose proposes a Six Sides of Steel Match vs Lashley at BFG.

2. Garza Jr. & Johnny Impact vs Chris Adonis & The GFW Heavyweight Champion Eli Drake. All 4 men worked well together. Garza was very much over with the crowd again. Johnny rolls up Adonis for the win.

JB returns and announces he has a special guest next: Gail Kim. JB reminds the crowd it's been 10 years since the KO's title where Gail became the first ever champion. They hype the Women's 4 match and confirm it will be Gail's last ever BFG, which draws a lot of "NO NO" chants. Gail says it will be all business and she will win the KO's championship at BFG.

3. The Impact Grand Champion EC3 vs. Suicide in a non-title match. It looks EC3 is a tweener since he used a lot of heel tactics in the match: cheap shots behind the referee and some choking. The Grand Title hasn't been defended much recently, so maybe there'll be another change to it? EC3 eventually wins. Ok match.

Bobby Lashley, Dan Lambert & American Top Team are out next. Lambert asks the crowd if that's all they've got when they boo them. Lambert says he wants the wrestlers are wanna be tough guys and they want to company out of business. Lambert says King Mo and Lashley have accepted Moose and Stephan Bonnar's Six Side's Of Steel match at BFG. Lambert gets a lot of "WHAT" chants which seem to rile him up. He also tells Jeff Jarrett that he's swung his last guitar and the only you idiots will see at Universal are roller coasters.

4. Non-title match: GFW X Division Champion Trevor Lee Vs Mahabali Shera. Shera uses his power advantage to toss Lee around early & gets a surprising upset win with The Sky High. Curious booking for your X division champ before the PPV. Lee was also out by himself.

5. KO's Grudge Match: Taya Valkyrie vs Rosemary. The ladies start to brawl as soon as the bell rings. Taya wins by reversing a Jack Knife cover into a double stomp to the chest. Taya tries to attack more after the match-big mistake as Rosemary sprays her red mist in her face. Rosemary says the hive demands and chants "Bloody Mary" repeatedly as Taya goes to the back. As Rosemary goes to the back one of the kids has a Decay mask and a sign that says "Rosemary Is My Scary Godmother!" Rosemary sees it and pats him on the head.

6. MAIN EVENT: OVE (GFW Tag Team Champion) & Johnny Impact vs. GFW Champion Eli Drake (w/ Chris Adonis) & LAX Santana & Ortiz (w/ Konnan & Diament?). As OVE come out they are attacked before they get in the ring by LAX & Adonis. Eli is hiding on the ramp & attacks Johnny when he is coming out. A bit of short match with Johnny & OVE winning. After the match LAX attacks OVE outside & they brawl to the back with LAX dominating them. JOHNNY is left alone & is eventually taken out by Adonis & Eli after they roll up the ring mat & Drake hits his finisher on the exposed wood part under the mat. Johnny is helped to the back to end the show.

– Twitch will stream AAA TripleMania XXV live in both Spanish and English commentary. The streaming video platform announced the news on Wednesday, revealing that there will be a “best of” Triplemania marathon leading up to the event. The content will be available at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide’s Twitch channels in Spanish and English.

The pre-show marathan will begin on August 24th at 3 PM PT and run through until the live broadcast of Triplemania XXV begins on August 26th at 5 PM PT. It will run through 10 PM PT.

“We are very excited by the reaction of our fans to the “match of the decade” between Dr. Wagner Jr. and Psycho Clown,” said Dorian Roldán, Vice President of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. “This is why we decided to partner with Twitch to livestream Triplemania XXV exclusively on their platform and mobile applications. Since we both share a passion to innovate, we look forward to having Twitch broadcast our show around the world.”

Bobby Roode looks like Triple H Canadian cousin.

If Dunne and Bates were on 205 each week I actually might watch it. I'm enjoying their Progress heel antics.

So apparently Asuka is a huge gamer, with 5,000 games in her collection.

Even though AAA's product is generally as awful as WWE's and GFW's, you can't beat Triplemania for free with English commentary. They do have a ridiculously talented roster.

I will try to make time to watch in between the Colorado State football opener and Mayweather's beat down of McGregor.

So the rumors are is that John Cena is going to be in the Knight Rider movie with Kevin Hart voicing KITT.

That's an odd movie decision for Cena, who's recent movie selections have been questionable at best. I mean Daddy's Home 2? Was the first one even good enough to warrant a sequel? I saw the first one and thought it sucked. Then he signs on for the Bumblebee spinoff movie?

Speaking of Transformers......Cena's doppleganger Mark Wahlberg is the highest paid actor of 2017, passing the People's Champion, despite the last Transformers movie being a piece of garbage.

Gonna hope for the best. I don't trust Vince with any NXT people. I feel like Joe is the only one who is fine.

I am curious to see what happens with the NXT Women's Championship.

Also, two years ago began the "I'm not Finished with You!" Era:

I would book her similar to either Joe or Braun. But I don't think that's going to happen.
