Batista isn't a "traditional" promo guy (ala Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena, etc). But he is well-spoken and articulate in his own way. So I think that it could work.
Batista's also a great example of something that WWE utterly fails at these days. Namely long-term storytelling building up a new babyface into a star, and then paying that off in a big way when the time is right.
