The final season of Static Shock was :awesome: . Everything else kinda sucked.

Why, hype, WHY?! :csad:

1000. That's all you get. Make it count.....or don't. I'd love to see a thousand posts consisting of nothing but bad dick jokes.

Thanks for the scans from the comic. The Superboy closet bit was...interesting.

Or borderline creepy. He should just sleep in a tomb, like Dracula. Girls like the emotionally crippled vampire types with "nice ears". :p

May as well repost the teaser for "BEREFT", the last new episode of YJ for a few weeks, at least: http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/news.php/news.php?action=fullnews&id=982

There's a slight possibility that some of the teams feelings towards each other might change after this episode and certain characters might drop some of their 'annoying' habits.

I don't really mind "Hello, Megan" or "Whelmed/Aster/Turbed."

Some comments from last thread:

I saw Raven as more of an introverted goth than a "geek girl". She did actually have emotions under the surface, you just had to pierce her emotional armor. Of course, there were no end of Beast Boy/Raven shippers from "TEEN TITANS" forums.

Artemis is not a "geek girl". I actually think one would work well with Kid-Flash. Artemis is an assertive, no-nonsense, all attitude competitor. A type A personality, as it were. While Kid-Flash sees himself as similar, he relies more on bravado he can't back up, at least so far in this show. He's the team's weakest link. One would argue Superboy should be, since he is the angry, emotional loner, but his brute strength makes him more vital as the muscle of the team. Kid-Flash has experience and training, but he hasn't quite combined them properly on the field, IMO, in this show so far. In fact he reminds me very much of how Michelangelo often acted in the 2k3 era TMNT show. There were times he could get serious and actually be a very efficient, even creative fighter (especially in training sequences; Mikey could even frustrate Raph in sparring sessions) - but 90% of the time, he was the one who made wisecracks, screamed like a girl, and screwed up.

I suppose Artemis and Kid-Flash could work in a similar fashion as Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable did (an efficient, non-nonsense action girl and her spastic load of a male sidekick), but to be honest I didn't see enough of that show to understand why Kim and Ron worked out beyond story demands. And to be fair, Wally doesn't screw up nearly as much as Ron did.

At any rate, I wouldn't say there has been no interaction between the characters; I think that is the strength of the show. My problem is many of those interactions, so far, have not risen far above established tropes, which doesn't make them bad, but more predictable than they should be.

I'm mainly describing the Raven from the fanfic I read, which was actually closer to Sad, Awkward, Grey Raven from TT episode "Nevermore" than the normal Raven from that show. But I wouldn't necessarily describe Raven from TT as as introverted goth; she came across as self-centered and irritable rather than truly tormented.

No, Artemis is the furthest thing from a "geek girl." She is in fact very much like TT Raven, wherein she is allowed to snap at everyone with no retaliation, which isn't so much as no-nonsense as it is sheer nonsense. She also reminds me of Shadowcat from Wolverine and the X-Men, who was pretty much a token Girl Power character, all sassy and no personality. I guess it helps a little bit that Wally almost seems deserving of this treatment, but if I was Kent Nelson in "Denial", I wouldn't complaint Artemis as a spit fire; I would think both her and Wally were being bratty.

Like you mentioned before, the way the show pushes these two together is clunky. As Nelson is leaving he says: "Find yourself your own little spit fire, like that..." leaving the sentence unfinished, though we all know what it refers to. Then, as Wally is putting the helmet on the shelf, Nelson's statement is actually repeated, and then Artemis comes in with her insults. It's so clumsy and obvious that it almost works in reverse. The whole point of this kind of trope is for Wally to eventually reject the obvious love interest Megan for the less-obvious love interest Megan.

As for Kim Possible, Kim/Rom this worked out because Kim's barbs felt more like gentle teasing, like she appreciate Ron's offbeat attitude on some level. Plus, the whole cheerleader/couch potato thing adds enough intrigue to see things through.

Megan doing the heavy lifting in her relationship is due entirely to this show deciding to make Superboy an angry, brooding, damaged goods loner type instead of the type of character he was for over half of his existence in the comics (and during the comic run of which this show gets its title). If Superboy was the funny, cocky, and naive sort he was until the last half decade, this relationship might have more life. Unfortunately, he might have then clashed more with Kid-Flash, the OTHER funny, cocky, naive sort. So when the writers were settling on character archetypes, Superboy fell into the angry loner muscle type.

The problem with this is that it makes Superboy look like a coddled pretty-boy who gets the girl and is unaccountable for his actions; very hard to sympathie with. This may be fine for the Twilight fans and the shoujo-manga readers, but it's unengaging for someone who wants their superheroes to have more understandable personalities. Terry McGinnis was an angsty teen too, but he had real wit, charm, and intelligence, enough to carry Batman Beyond through its most mediocre episodes. This is why I'm less forgiving towards the characters of YJ: because I've seen this kind of thing done much better before.

Ooh, Tenny McGinnis is actually here to read my compliments about his wonderful show. :oldrazz:

On another note, I laughed outloud when I saw that clip of Superboy and Miss Martian.

Miss Martian: So Superboy, would you like blueberries or chocolate chips on your waffle?"
Superboy: "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" (rips off shirt)
Miss Martian: "Oh, of course it would be blueberries. Hello, Megan!" (slaps forehead)

For those of you still going WTF about Artemis being Artemis Crock, I've compiled a list of reasons why she fits as a hero.

1) In the comics she wanted to live-up to her parents villainous careers, Earth-16 could be a what if? scenario where she is ashamed of their criminal past. Black Canary even commented on the issue in the comics, where she thought them having a legacy battle since their parents were enemies was a waste.

2) Artemis did appear in the original Young Justice comic series

3) Even in if she's a villain in the comics, she was shown as having a sense of honor, and even caring about her teammates.

4) Recently she's been shown as more of a rogue in the comics, she worked alongside two JSA members on a mission, and has recently had a daughter with Icicle Junior.

Im liking Mganns white/blue costume. She should keep it.

And this basically confirms Artemis' dad is a villan.

This is an ok episode, very generic.

I notice the portal is a mother-box tech so the Light could be Apokolips or they made a deal with Darkseid or stole it.

Hello Megan... 4 times... FOUR. ****ING. TIMES.

Man how on earth can someone get so much nerd raged by a catch phrase? :p Anyhow i liked the episode, but pretty much for the Wally+Artemis development and the "oh shi!" ending the episode provided.

Speaking of "Hello, Megan", I think I figured out why she says that so much.

She modeled her persona off of a character from a tv show she watched.

Two clues:

1) In "Downtime", when it shows Artemis at home with her mom, the television is playing in the background. Right before the mom turns it off, you start to hear the TV announcer say the title of the tv show, "Hello, Megan", right before he gets cut off when the tv gets turned off.

2) In this episode, when Megan restores Superboy's memories, you can spot a flashback of someone that looks like Megan saying "Hello, Megan", only she isn't green. That's because it's not Megan! It's a character from the TV show I mentioned in my last point! You even hear a laugh track after she says the catchphrase. M'gann modeled her persona off of a character named Megan from "Hello, Megan".

That's why she keeps on saying her catchphrase and seems like a ditzy valley girl! She modeled her current persona off of a TV character!

Though, as to why she model it off of that character and not someone else, I don't know. Maybe it was the first thing that came to her head.

Superboy was definetely in pure Hulk form last night.

I thought it was odd when MM realised she was on Earth (memory loss) and then said how Earth didn't look "like on the TV". As far as she knew at the time, that was her 1st time ever on Earth, so how would she had ever seen anything on TV? Are there televisions on where ever planet she's been on that specifically displays what Earth is?

I think TV and radio signals do occasionally get sent out into space.

I'm guessing that they get old tv signals on Mars, kind of like the Omicronians on Futurama.

What I was wondering about was how she kept her current form even after Psimon made her forget. I have no idea what causes martians to revert to their original form. Speaking of martians, it looks like she was thinking of J'onn as her uncle before she was even on Earth. BTW, how the heck did they get Aqualad on to the bio ship without Miss Martian ?

I wonder what the heck that ball from Apokolips was. It kind of reminds me of Brother Eye or something. It was cool to see a little more stuff about Artemis revealed. Her interactions with Wally tend to be funny. It was another decent episode to me. I had no problems.
