Young Justice Cartoon - Part 4

Looking at today's episode, it still amazes me that we have an American animated series that looks this good.

It wouldve been cool if they gave the JL special uniforms for certain situations like they give YJ but I imagine that might be harder to do since they probably would have to get permission to do so.
With as many character designs as they've already cranked out for this show, which also includes several looks for the main characters, I can only imagine that creating a few more for the JLA members (as numerous as they are) would have been a bit of of a financial difference.

1000th POST !

Very good episode this morning. Was great to finally get another wally episode and to develop his character more. So we get to see a different side of his personality. Also it was sweet seeing savage and vertigo in the episode and kf struggle with them. Also it was funny to see him learn of superboy and ms martian relationship totally loled there.

It's kind of funny how the kids are still referred to as "The Team" in-show.

Green Arrow and Black Canary had special outfits in this one. Some heroes may not need them, like Red Tornado, Dr. Fate, and Captain Atom, but many members were not shown, so, who knows?

YJ is getting really close to its season 1 finale, there's only 6 episodes left to air for this season. Expect the next 6 to have major reveals as well.

It should also be noted that the season 1 finale is timestamped for New Years Eve, and the season 2 premiere is timestamped a day later on New Years Day. Season 2 spans 6 months in time.

Looks like Greg Weisman liked his Green Arrow story so much he re-did it with Kid Flash. Beautiful episode.

Beautiful indeed. This show is seriously great.

The animation this episode was also top notch. Savages air flip when landing in front of Kid Flash was superb!

It's also spliced with a Wally West story in the comics, which also involved a speedy delivery and a distraction by Vandal Savage.

The new episode was pretty awesome, Wally got was written very well and it was nice seeing him grow as a character and he seemed more competent than ever when using his super speed.

Kid Flash is one of my favorite characters in this show so it was nice seeing an episode centered around him, I can't wait to see Aqualad, Superboy, and Miss Martian's spotlight episodes. :woot:

Misplaced and Coldhearted were both good episodes and were based on comic storylines. In Misplaced, we see two dimensions with one ruled by children and one ruled by adults and Captain Marvel is the bridge between them. Zatanna got to join the team, but at a huge price.

Coldhearted is based on the first issue of the Wally West Flash comic series with the heart transplant delivery and Vandal Savage, but the only difference was that Wally became the new Flash at the time after Barry Allen's death. It was good character development for Wally, who now learns that both Superboy and Miss Martian are an item. :super:

Seriously. This guy had some crazy ups and downs for his birthday. I was pretty happy to see that when things get serious Wally is reliable. He doesn't mess around, he doesn't waste time unless he has to (Vandal Savage), he's prepared with lunches and such just in case he's low on energy. His fighting and use of speed was pretty efficient. Yes, he can only move a little above mach 1 but it's still impressive to watch. I genuinely believed that he could beat Vandal Savage by himself so I'm happy with the way the fight was cut short. Beating Savage too early would really undermine his threat.

Really looking forward to Dread's post.

But I think all of us are.

Not a knock, even when I disagree with you, you always have very insightful things to say, Dread.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Flash movie centered around a speedy heart transplant delivery in the middle of winter. There's some great imagery of a red speedster skidding around on snow/ice (I guess that's why Weather Wizard and Captain Cold are two of Flash's fan-favorite villains)

I was also actually thinking that the fake snow/winter in the episode was a result of Weather Wizard's tampering.

wouldnt mind them as flash villains in film but for me i think mirror master would be a wonderful first film villain for flash.

still waiting for the today's ep to appear on line

I agree with Mirror Master as a first film villain. Believable threat, plus some really really cool visual effects.

I wonder if the Mirror Master character design from Justice League Doom will show be used in Young Justice if the Rogues ever turn up.

I think the one thing I've really been waiting for in Young Justice is a return to Atlantis. Aquaman/Aqualad have a really cool universe and I cant wait for that Black Manta/Aqualad parentage storyline.

Probably I wouldn't mind it. And for film mirror master would probably get a little redesign as aall films tend to. Do. Cause he does have a silly costume look. But definately like him for first film villain for flash if flash ever gets off the ground. Only thing if a flash series happen I hope they don't take the redesign look/background for captain cold. From what I seen of his new dc deal he is pretty much like icecle jr rip.

That's what I loved about Flash/Wally West in the Justice League series. Cracks jokes, but can be serious and very reliable when the need presents itself. I mean, when he finds out [BLACKOUT]that the Queen "dies"[/BLACKOUT], the look of sadness on his face reminded me of how that same character would have reacted in JL.

I think this episode started to show hints of the Flash we all know and love from that other series.

I really want to see more Flash villains in this show. We've seen Captain Cold, Abra Kadabra, and Vandal Savage so far. I definitely would like to see more of DC's most colorful rogues gallery in this show.

Same for Atlantis, but I have a feeling we won't see it again for the rest of the season.

Finally got around to seeing the episode. Awesome to finally see Wally get some bad ass moments in.

Hate me all you want for bringing it up again, but this episode perfectly captures my problem with the whole stealth costume idea. Nothing that the team was doing was subtle, and in no way required the arctic steal other than "hey, look at how cool this would look." I guess you could argue that it kept them warm in the cold weather, but they could have easily done that with modifications to their regularly colored costumes. And seeing as how we've already seen these arctic stealth costumes (albeit in a psychic simulation), you'd think the designers would jump at the chance to give us something new, since they enjoy playing with the costumes. They didn't even bother to give half of the League stealth outfits. Especially the Flash, who has probably the brightest costume that would most need one.

Wally's story didn't suffer at all for wearing a bright yellow unitard. And I suspect that most, if not all, of the previous stories would have held up the same keeping the heroes in their signature, and arguably defining costumes. Again, I'm fine with it happening every now and then when it seems appropriate. But they shoehorn it in to too many episodes unnecessarily.

Aside from that minor complaint that spans throughout the entire show, this episode was great. It's about time we got a focus on Wally that didn't involve magic. And about time we get to see him do something beside trip over himself. The way he handled skidding and sliding makes it look like he actually has experience with running at the speed of sound.

After this episode, it looks like Wally is on his way to being the great character that exists both in the comics, and in previous animated works like Justice League and JLU.

The character that existed in the comics... :csad:

To play devil's advocate, we never saw how the team actually arrived at the ice fortresses. Actually getting onto the fortresses (which appear to be well defended) might very well have involved stealth. Yes, what we saw was hardly stealthy but you can hardly cause an ice fortress to crash from the sky stealthily, can you?

As for the lack of costume variations for the JL members, it could be an animation cost issue. Why go all that effort of creating variations that you'll get very low use of?

i think that the stealth costumes are a waste. I just don't like them thy are unnecessary, like the batman toy variants.

I am still not happy with Wally being so "slow". it would be nice to get a speedster treated like a speedster that doesn't have to be put in a world threatening bad situation to show how fast he truly is.
