Young X-Men

The brotherhood has always been a fairly freeform kind of organization though, with different members all the time. This "new" brotherhood they mention could include anyone really, maybe even including students we haven't heard about post-MC?? It's a possibility....

Just doesn't make sense to me. The Brotherhood does absolutely nothing for years, yet Cyclops somehow decides that they need to be utterly wiped out? Weird.

Although, I did notice that YXM doesn't come out until April, so I guess maybe the Brotherhood could be set up as big bads again in the next 3 or 4-ish months.

Or, y'know, the Brotherhood is set up in the first issue of the title. Seeing their re-emergence, Cycke decides they need to be eliminated, and thus sends the Young X-Men after them.

Eh, that seems so slapdash to me. They've got tons of comics covering the X-universe. Throw a couple Brotherhood appearances in to lay some groundwork. These comics don't exist in a vacuum, as much as many creators wish they could.

Maybe the Brotherhood is hanging out in the new 1960's San Fransisco.

Haha, why do you hate that so much? It's probably some time-manipulating mutant whose powers go haywire. No big deal.

I don't hate it, I just think it's silly. The mutants have hit their lowest point ever, and Warren, Scott and Emma party it up in hippietown. Also, it seems like the type of story I'd want to read from someone like Parker, Van Lente or Slott, not Brubaker.

What you say is true, but I wouldn't count on the Brotherhood appearing before the first issue hits.

True. I think the X-Men could use a little lightening up, though. Messiah Complex was a horrible ordeal for them and, at the end of the day, they're still human. No one can wallow in such despair forever without going crazy. That's probably why Colossus is heading back to Mother Russia, too. Everyone just needs to take a breather and let everything that happened in MC settle in.

Well, they're comics. You've gotta expect a bit of a random weirdness quota. Besides, it's Brubaker. I trust he'll have a good explanation for all of this.

Like I said, I'd expect this kind of weirdness from pretty much anyone else. I don't know if Brubaker can pull this kind of thing off. I'm glad that Choi is drawing the arc, though. I can't tolerate Tan's work anymore.

I'm not a huge fan of Choi either, but he is better than Tan. I really wish Uncanny could manage to hold a grade-A penciler, though. What's the deal with that? This thing used to attract the likes of Jim Lee, the Kuberts, et al. There've gotta be some top-notch creators out there who still like the X-Men (and haven't migrated to DC).

I like Choi's art a lot more than you do. Yeah, it's Top Cow-ish, but it's of the best kind, if that makes sense. I'm just so happy that he's not Tan that my judgement is probably impaired.

Tan's art was outright horrible. Aside from the fact that he couldn't even get simple costumes that have been around for decades correct, his perspective shots are terrible. And don't get me started on Scott's magical jumping visor. :cmad:

It's been about 2-3 years that the brotherhood hasnt done anything, and in Marvel comic-time that isnt long at all, a couple months thats all. Look at the Wrecking Crew, they are all over the place, New Avengers, Omega Flight, Marvel Comics presents, before that when was the last time they really did anything? Also I'll ask you this again when was the last time the Marauders made a peep? Nothing up until Massiah Complex, and the Marauders became a huge threat over one incident.

The Brotherhood was last seen in X-Men 161-164, Exodus, Sabretooth, Mamomax, Avalanche, Juggernaut, and Nocturne.

The Wrecking Crew's been around pretty consistently. I'd question the decision to form a proactive team specifically aimed at eliminating them as well, though. They're small-time idiots who are easily beaten. The X-Men haven't had any trouble beating the Brotherhood for a while either.

Anyway, like I said, it's possible that they'll build the Brotherhood up again in coming months or in YXM itself. It just seemed odd to me that they're the big bad of the YXM book.

Warren needs rescuing from the 70s is what I gathered from the solicit. It's not like Scott and Emma are taking a vacation

Guggenheim talks YXM.

Tell me where the wrecking Crew was before the Wrecker got out of jail and kicked the New Avenegsr ass all by himself. Also it doesnt matter if they are small time idiots, my point is they hadnt been used for a while now all of a sudden they are in OFlight, NAvengers, MCPresents. Look ate the wizard he hadnt been used since before disassembled now all of a sudden he shows up in Fantastic Four, wth 3 other villians who kinda showed up out of nowhere and he shows up in New Avengers in the same arc as the Wrecking Crew. If you never take the characters out of limbo that is where they will stay, and you will then sit here and be like "why hasnt Marvel used the Brotherhood in so long?"

Also remember Cyke is sending the YX-men to deal with them, so whatever peep they make probably isnt big enough for the adults. Ever think that Marvel might be having the brotherhood make an appearance in YX-Men, so they can build it up for a bigger story arc in other X-titles.
