That really is the best one.

And I'll fight any man who says different.

Really? bring it on! lol, Nah, Jaws is brilliant, but the best horror? I don't think so

The Descent.

A great character drama, a great psychological mind-bender, and a great visceral monster movie all rolled into one.

Zombies with blue and green clown make up
only thing wrong with it
While I see where you're coming from, I see that more as one of the charms or quirks of the film, more so than a fault.

Jaws was/is a great film, but can it really be classified as a horror?

The Descent was pretty good.

The 'Dracula' film with Christopher Lee; the only downside of watching it is remembering how utterly terrible Dracula 2000 was. :down

Ed gein totally spurred Buffalo Bill/jame gumb in Silence of the Lambs - that's my fave file of all time
Horror - has to be halloween, it's scary because it could actually happen.
Nightmae on Elm St comes a close second for scares but it's not as realistic

Dead Series (Dawn and Night[/i] being at the top) and the Exorcist.

Meh-some zombie movies are a lot of fun to watch; others bore me senseless.

The Exorcist. Why? Because its perfect.

Anything with zombies,especially Romero's flicks

Agreed on that, zombie flicks are another of my favorites.

Horror films I like -

John Carpenter's The Fog (starring Adrienne Barbeau & Jamie Lee Curtis)
Evil Dead 2
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Werner Herzog's Nosferatu
Dracula (with Frank Langella)

Why do I like them? I dunno... they drawn me in and hold my attention.

There's so many classics, and to narrow it down is tough...but, the two that first came to mind would be The Shining and Carpenter's The Thing. They are both so damn wonderful, but, I must say that 28 Days Later was brilliant.

Simple quite plain and simple.

Halloween
Black Christmas
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on Elm Street

The originals. The classics. :o

The Shining.

Oh, and while they hardly be considered horror anymore, I'm a giant fan of all the old Universal Monster movies. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Invisible Man...all fantastic.

Although the "effects" of this movie seem primitive in comparison of now a days movies IT was great back in the early 90s you all know that clown freaked you out. As far as now a days movies I would have to go with The Ring purely for its shock value, and Saw because it blew my mind when I found out the jiggsaw killer was lying in the middle of the room the entire movie.

The Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Bubba Ho-Tep
Army of Darkness
Little Shop Of Horrors (original)
Dawn of the Dead (original)
