Your friends, and their stupid movie opinions.

I have a friend who has never seen Batman Begins or the Dark Knight but he liked the Joel S Batman Films. I need to convert him and make him see the truth.

A friend of mine refuses to watch "Iron Man" because of his love of the song by Black Sabbath.

I remember someone once commenting to me something along the lines of...
"Star Wars, isn't that the one with Dr. Spock in it?"

So not only could they not get the program name right, they altered Mr. Spock from a Vulcan/Human hybrid scientist to an American pediatrician.

I made it my mission in life to avoid them thereafter... :hehe:

I told my friend that the entire concept of Face Off is too absurd and that I couldn't take the movie seriously, added to the fact that Cage and Travolta are the leads. He tells me, like on other occasions, that I can't tell if a movie is bad or not only by watching a few minutes of it and I need to watch the entire thing before I can have an opinion.

I don't know if this is just me, but I almost always know whether or not a movie is good or whether I will like by watching just a small part of it. Face Off :down

You're insane. Face/Off is awesome, one of the best action movies in the last 20 years.

Taking it seriously or not shouldn't effect how good a film is. The whole premise is ridiculous, but it's told in a great way.

Back when Batman & Robin came out I had a co-worker who is just a casual moviegoer saying it was better than the other 3 films because it had more action in it, which further proves that big dumb action movies don't need translation in other countries.

It doesn't even have the most action, see when B&R first came out though, I preferred watching it to Batman89, which , apart from a few scenes, I found very boring and drawn out, it depressed me a bit, because it always reminded me of how disapointed I was when it first came out.
Nowadays, I appreciate Batman89 more, and am not as depressed when watching it, because we have the Nolan movies, and cannot watch B&R beyond the opening action scene, and the car chase scene(which could have been in a good B&R film).

I still much prefer Batman Forever to Batman89, Batman Returns though.

There was a guy on a forum I used to frequent who was a very smart intellectual type, very good analytical mind, and he always said he preferred the Schumachers to the Burtons, because they were more fun to watch.

So, y'know, you'll get all sorts of opinions, doesn't mean they are stupid.

It felt slightly painful just to read that.

No it didn't, but if it did, you need to get out of the house more.

I spent a few minutes thinking about how to counter your statement and eventually came to the conclusion
"Actually that's a fair point...." :yay:

I dunno if this applys or not but my brother in law bashed the star wars prequels to no end this past decade since the phantom menace and when the 3D release came out he went and saw it and came out bashing it even more. I told him if you hate these movies so much why go pay $15 to lucas to watch it in 3D? he said "I thought the 3D would make the film better".

My friend is a judgemental prick who fancies himself a "film buff" and can't accept that I like different movies than he does. This is why we aren't friends anymore.

Wow, doesn't sound like you guys were really that good of friends in the first place.
I have a friend who I met at school, ended up playing in a band with, back at school I didn't have a clue about movie directors, he turned me onto Scorsese, and I got into watching more movies, going to the local arty farty art house cinema and stuff, trying to make my own wee films on video camera...he was a bit of a movie buff, a few years ago, he took the piss out of me by saying , 'Bummie, have you watched any good movies lately? any, y'know, that are *not* superhero movies?' I mean, he really started taking the piss out of me a bit over that, but that was ok, because he was my friend, and I knew there was nothing malicious about it.

Facetious is the word. I'm sorry but there's hardly anything redeeming about that movie to me. It's not even in the bad enough to be good category.

I'd like to repeat some statements that were said on the UK Oscar coverage last night by Nick Moran, the guy out of Lock Stock.

First of all he hoped Meryl Streep would win because her portrayal of Margeret Thatcher was the greatest piece of acting since De Niro in Raging Bull.
Then he described John Williams as a fraud, saying he only has one tune in him.

Words escaped me and my friends.

eh, I enjoy watching it more than Captain America, because Cap is a bit too bland a character, and it has no memorable action set-pieces(hopefully he will be a little more interesting in the Avengers, i did like the bit from the trailer where he was being cheeky to Stark), and Thor, which is about the equivalent of two episodes of Smallville with a bigger budget. I like Smallville though, so did enjoy the film, but that is the level of quality i thought it was at dramatically, and in scope.

So, nobody here has ever thought HE/SHE is "that friend"? :woot:

haha, aye, I was just thinking about 20mins ago how my friends would take the piss out of me for all kinds of stupid stuff i would say or do, so quite possibly I have had friends saying 'holy sh**, how many times does he watch those Batman/X-Men/Spider-man/Buffy/Angel films? I am sick of hearing about them. He is melting what is left of his tiny weirdo brain watching all that stuff over and over.' edit: imean, that is essentially what my friend from the band/schhol was taking the piss out of me for.
And that same friend I was talking about in an earlier post, my old pal from school/the band, he had read Watchmen, right? So, one day i was telling him about what the latest was in regards to it being filmed, and he just coldly said 'Eh, Bummie, you are confusing me for someone who gives a sh**.' haha

Oh aye, and as someone pointed out to ma, haha, the first time i saw Batman Begins i did not realise Henri Ducard was Ras al ghul, well, I was no well, and I was knackered and forced at guilty gunpoint to go to the midnight showing with my friend, so, there, haha.

One friend hates the ending to "The Thing" and thinks it lacks atmosphere. I never trust him with movies or in general again.

Back in 2008. Another friend thought that Edward Norton shouldn't play Bruce Banner. He said Mark Wahlberg... I refrained from bashing his face in.

Best friend thought Drive was boring and hated The Grey.

I don't understand people who think that Drive is boring...oh well.

One of the airheads on E! yesterday said she thought Jean Dujardin should win Best Actor for The Artist because his accent was so great.

The Artist, of course, being a silent film...

I hate friends who say they want to watch a movie; however, when when the movie starts, they start texting and then they ask stupid questions during the movie because they weren't paying attention.

Can't ****ing stand people like that. My sister and my best friends wife are notorious when it comes to that. Either watch the movie, or don't

Why? I just can't wrap my head around this one.

I'm pretty sure I have my moments. Lets face it I actually like Red Sonja better than most of Arnold's other movies. Plus Conan the Destroyer is my favorite of the Conan movies. So yeah I'm pretty sure people think I have stupid movie opinions.:woot:

This is my mother not only does she want to discuss what going on in the show/movie we're watching but she'll even talk about random things that have nothing to do with what we're watching. And when I went to see the Hangover 2 with a group of friend one of them was texting the whole movie.
