'Ghost' does it for me, everytime. :O

What movies cause you to tear up?

Life As a House

The Notebook

Meet Joe Black

LOTR: The Return of the King

THE POLAR EXPRESS (don't ask) and MEET JOE BLACK. It's the music that does it. That, and Anthony Hopkins incredibly understated performance.

Terminator 2 when I was a kid (I blubbed so hard at the ending everytime).:oldrazz:

But a modern day tearjerker? Brokeback Mountain(no I'm not gay before anyone says it).

I cant believe noone has said My Girl that was like the saddest movie ever when i was a kid

T2 was sad at the end.

But:
-The Shawshank Redemption
-The Green Mile
-With Honors
-American Beauty

Those all got to me.

well

Ninja Turtles... most of the scenes with Splinter.
Also the end of Terminator 2

Ghost
The Green Mile
Edward Scissorhands
LOTR: Return of the King
Terminator 2
Philadelphia
Return of the Jedi
Ray
X1/X2
Click
Passion of the Christ
Braveheart
AI: Artificial Intelligence
I Am Legend
Schindler's List
Roots
Shawshank Redemption
Hotel Rwanda

Honorable mention goes to Spider-Man 3 when Harry dies with Peter and Mary Jane by his side. Very moving, great performances from Tobey, Kirsten, and James in that moment, and the music really just fit the mood perfectly.

American Beauty
X-Men 2
E.T.

I'm sure there's more, but those spring to mind...

It all mainly had to do with strong performances and the music.

Superman Returns, 1st & only time I watched it, I cried uncontrollably.

Any movie that I've cried at has already been mentioned. But I did well up a bit in "Monsters Inc" when Sully said goodbye to Boo. :csad:
If you don't mind me asking, why X-Men 1?

In X-1 my heart sank a bit when I thought they killed Rogue.:csad:

No problem.

In X1 after Logan wakes up from his nightmare he stabs Rogue and his reaction to that was perfect. He actually thought he killed her and Hugh pulled off that moment perfectly.

Then after the final battle he's desperately trying to revive Rogue and even goes as far as to touch her skin to see if she was alive. No words were spoken but the music and the that moment choked me up greatly.

City of Angels
E.T
The Elephant Man

I also like to add Transformers to the list as well. The scene when Bumblebee is captured by the government is a very powerful scene.

Now while the scenes I'm going to describe isn't sad by any means, quite the opposite actually. The two scenes from Transformers that moved me to tears of joy are when the Autobots descend to Earth and their first transformation, and of course the big epic battle in the city between the Decepticons and Autobots.

Both of the scenes are what I always envisioned when I was a little kid. I grew up on Transformers, had the toys, had the comics, had the cartoons on VHS and so forth. When the Autobots descened to Earth I couldn't help but sit there and stare in wonder like a little kid again. Bay's use of the camera during that scene really made me feel like I was literally in that moment watching them transform.

During the final battle Ironhide says "Sam we will protect you!" and it was a unique emotional moment between Sam and Mikaela ends with Megatron yelling "DECEPTICONS ATTACK!". The end of that brought tears of joy to my eyes because I finally felt like I was a little kid again and I miss those times.

I concur with the Autobots Arrival scene. The music really brings a lump to my throat. A true 'tear of Joy' moment.

Another movie that did that for me was Batman:Mask of the Phantasm. When Alfred hands Bruce his mask, and Batman dons's the mask for the first time; the music coupled with Alfred's 'my god' expression is another tear of joy moment for me.

Agree. That was a perfect scene. It would've been nice to see something like that in Batman Begins too.
