The Dark Knight Your teaser trailer :

The trailer starts with an image of a cityscape at night. Flames are in the distance, a deep, intimidating bass thrums in the background, and somewhere there are screams.

BRUCE WAYNE: (voice over) Do you remember what you told me?

CUT to a television news report, the words SEVEN DEAD, DOZENS WOUNDED underneath a shot of smoke pouring out of a building. An anxious-looking news anchor sits at the desk.

NEWS ANCHOR: ...seems to strike at random, incredibly dangerous but easily identifiable by his-

CUT to a shot of armed thugs dressed in disturbing clown masks inside of a bank, screaming.

THUG: ON THE FLOOR!! DOWN ON THE FLOOR!!!

BRUCE WAYNE: (voice over) When I was young? Do you remember?

CUT to a shot of JAMES GORDON and several police officers staring off screen at something in horror.

The music changes. A flute begins playing, off key and atonal.

CUT to a shot of BATMAN, crouched on the edge of a building, staring down at something.

BATMAN: (whispers) No....

BRUCE WAYNE: You told me there were no such things as monsters. That monsters weren't real.

CUT to a shot of a deck of cards, sitting on a table. A pair of black gloved hands drum merrily on the table, and then pick them up.

CUT to a shot of a crowd screaming in panic as they run from something.

A burst of static. The flute intensifies, getting louder and more grating.

Now, a homemade video, shot in grainy low-quality. In it is a picture of a young man, badly injured, wearing a cheap Batman costume. He is terrified, tied to the chair:

VOICE: (off screen) Tell them your name.

BRIAN: B...Brian Douglas.

VOICE: (whispers) Are you the real Batman, Brian?

BRIAN: N...no...

VOICE: Why do you want to be like him?

BRIAN: He... he's a symbol... That we don't have to be s...scared of scum like you...

A QUICK CUT of the gloved hands shuffling the cards.... then back to the Video.

VOICE: But you do, Brian. You really, really do. Do you think he's helped this city?

BRIAN nods.

VOICE: (laughter, which dies off unexpectedly. Then, snarling) Look at me. LOOK AT ME!

BRIAN looks up, horrified.

The screen goes blank.

CUT to BRUCE WAYNE and ALFRED sitting at a table, looking shaken. The flute music ends.

ALFRED: I remember, Master Wayne.

BRUCE WAYNE: You were wrong, weren't you.

ALFRED: (long pause) I believe I might have been, yes.

CUT back to the gloved hands, shuffling. Unexpectedly, the hands draw out a card at random and fling it to the table. The card makes a metal sound and proves to be razor sharp, sticking out of the wood at an angle. It is a JOKER CARD.

The screen cuts to BLACK. The laughter, snickering in the darkness. The BAT EMBLEM slowly appears out of the darkness.

THAT sounds great except for the joker haveing taken a person hostage.. a boy, i just don't se him doing that. but the news reporters, the conversation with bruce and alfre and the razor sharp joker card sound great

does anyone have an idea of when a teaser is supposed to be released?

Sounds good, but it won't happen. That sounds like a trailer that would be attached to a "Joker" spinoff movie. This movie is about Batman, and Nolan is all about Batman and he wants to continue the BATMAN journey. Batman will be the main theme. Though the joker will have a good influence on the next film, it wont be that much, and I think WB will continue to market Batman in its trailers.

Good trailer, but the Joker is the resounding theme in your trailer, and I dont think the movie will be marketed that way.

GORDON(O.S.)
What about escalation?

BATMAN(O.S.)
Escalation?

Fade in-

EXT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK -- DAY

A suburban SPEEDS down the street toward the front entrance of the bank. SCREECHES to a halt.

GORDON(O.S.)
You know, we start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics.

Four Thugs in Clown masks PILE out of the suburban, brandishing automatic rifles.

GORDON(O.S.)(CONT'D)
We start wearing kevlar, they buy armor-piercing rounds...

INT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK, LOBBY -- CONTINUOUS

A SHOT rings through the air, tellers and customers scream. A Bank Guard wearing a kevlar vest FALLS to the ground.

Cut To:

EXT. GOTHAM POLICE HEADQUARTERS, ROOFTOP -- NIGHT

Batman responds to Gordon who is off-screen.

BATMAN
And?

Cut to Gordon.

GORDON
You're wearing a cape, jumping off rooftops...

Cut To:

EXT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK -- DAY

A figure in a black costume with a cape, seemingly like Batman's yet different, GLIDES down a zip-line from an adjacent high-rise toward an upper floor window of the Bank.

Cut to:

EXT. GOTHAM POLICE HEADQUARTERS, ROOFTOP -- NIGHT

Gordon reaches into his coat pocket, pulls something out off screen-

GORDON
Now take this guy... Armed robbery...

Cut To:

INT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK, LOBBY -- DAY

The Joker, his face covered in a Clown mask, points a .45 calibre glock at a frightened Bank Manager.

GORDON(O.S.)(CONT'D)
...Double homicide...

Cut To:

INT. JEWELRY SHOP -- NIGHT

The place is RANSACKED, display cases shattered opened. Cops are all over the scene, collecting forensic evidence.

A FLASH from a camera and an investigator steps aside, revealing two dead bodies side-by-side.

GORDON(O.S.)(CONT'D)
Has a taste for the theatrical, like you...

Cut To:

EXT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK -- DAY

A yellow School Bus CRASHES through the outside wall of the Bank.

GORDON(O.S.)(CONT'D)
...leaves a calling card.

Cut To:

INT. JEWELRY SHOP -- NIGHT

Two sickening SMILES carved into their faces.

Cut To:

INT. GOTHAM NATIONAL BANK, LOBBY -- DAY

From Behind:
The Joker holds the glock, aimed at the distressed Bank Manager. A look of desperate resolution comes over the Manager's face.

BANK MANAGER
Do you have any idea who you're stealing from?

One of The Joker's goons KNOCKS OUT a frantic female bank teller with the butt of his rifle.

Back to our P.O.V. from behind The Joker. He tears off his mask. The Bank Manager is horrified.

Close-up: Slightly bloated and weathered CRIMSON lips flash a grin. The grin of a psychopath.

Back to the Manager.

THE JOKER(O.S.)
It's not polite to stare.

The screen goes BLACK. We hear a gun shot off-screen.

Cut To:

EXT. GOTHAM POLICE HEADQUARTERS, ROOFTOP -- NIGHT

Batman looks up from examining The Joker card.

BATMAN
I'll look into it.

Out of all the ideas, this resonates the most with me. I got excited for the movie reading this, which of course is the point of a teaser trailer. Good job, dude!

I agree with those that feel the movie's marketing should not be Joker-centric, yet Ledger's interpretation and look is the big question mark about the production. The above, in my opinion, does a great job of balancing both concerns. And it steals my idea for recapping Begin's ending for the audience as well, that way we don't have to waste time with that in the actual film and just jump into this new adventure with both feet. Using the new footage to correspond with Gordon's words -- awesome.

Love the partial reveal of his face. A clown robbing a bank in a clown mask! I chuckled.

-- END!

Meh. The teaser trailer isn't the actual trailer. It's more like the stuff that's guaranteed to make you sit up and punch your friends in the arms and yell HOLY **** DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS. It's about buzz. One pure shot of adrenaline delivered right to your jugular. You want it to spin around on the internet and make people forget the movie that comes afterwards.

I know what Nolan wants to do, but I also know what will make people start yelling with glee like morons.

yeah that was a good one... but it seems like everyone is stuck on the joker has ONLY done armed robbery and double hommicide... like he has never done anything else, according to the first movie the joker is already around hence they have his card, so in the time between the first film and the second film (im assumeing it'll be about a month or so) the joker is going to do some more ish, and im sure that they'll imply on him haveing done some other stuff in the past aswell....

LOL, exactly!
