Your top 10 favorite games

Something like

Rainbow Six (series)
Hulk Ultimate Destruction
Spider-Man (series)
Halo
Mass Effect
Worms
Conker Bad Fur Day
Terminator 3 The Redemption
The Punisher
Gears of War

From which platform? Because up to the PS1 it was comic based. And then PS2/PS3 it turned movie tie-in. The only ones I loved was Spider-Man 2(movie) and the first Spider-Man on PS1. Spider-Man: The Movie was cool too, but I was probably blinded by my comic book geekness. We won't ever mention FoF.:csad:

For franchise games I'm just gonna list my personal favorite, otherwise this list could be just Metroid, Zelda, Mario;

In no particular order;
Burger Time (Coleco Vision) - One of the first games I remember being really good at, very fun, old school gaming

Super Mario 64 (N64) - The 3D gaming puts it over the top of the Mario franchise, loved Mario 3 for the ability to chose which stage to go to next and Mario World for improving on that with multiple ways to defeat the level. 64 taking those ideas and putting them in 3D though was just amazing

Legend of Zelda (Nintendo) - The first sandbox game, just an amazing experience from beginning to end with some truly great puzzles, beats out Zelda for the Super Nintendo only because I remember being stumped more in the Nintendo game than the Super Nintendo one.

Metroid Prime (GameCube) - Takes a great franchise and makes it better in 3D. Probably the game with the best use of the GameCube controller. Beats out the previous entries for the story elements the game offered. First game I can remember not wanting to go out on Saturday night to continue playing just to see where the story goes next.

Bioshock (XBox 360) - Brillant game and story. Would you kindly release Bioshock 2 soon.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (XBox 360) - First true next gen game I felt I played in the generation and first game that got me into online gaming.

Pikmin 2 (GameCube) - Loved the first, this one was even better, getting rid of the 30 day rule and adding a bunch more stuff to find.

Ratchet and Clank 2 (PS2) - My favorite of the franchise, a platformer with great weaponry, built on the great success of the original, but kept to a story more than the next two. Only reason I'd buy a PS3 is for this series.

GTA San Andreas (PS2) - First GTA game where I actually played the story mode instead of just causing mass amounts of destruction and enjoyed it more as a result.

WWF Wrestlefest (Arcade) - This is the one where the bosses are Hogan and the Legion of Doom, loved this game in the arcade, the Royal Rumble mode was great, didn't even want to play the "story mode". Just felt like the perfect wrestling game, no complex button combo to pull off a move and the classic late '80s/early '90s characters.

1. Halo 3
2. Call of Duty 4
3. Star Wars: Battlefront II
4. Rainbow Six Vegas 2
5. Super Smash Bros Brawl

I grew up around every system, so I was never really bored:

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis) - Best cheat code, the debug mode where you could add any enemy or item to the screen, or become Super Sonic.

Kung-Fu (NES) - This game plays like how I live my life.

Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis) - I really feel like I am a 12 year old black kid on skates when I play this game, possibly more than in any other beat'em up.

Mortal Kombat 2 (SNES) - The best characters, the right balance of everything for the series.

Doom 2 (PC) - Especially playing without cheats, its a thrill to run into a room ridiculously outnumbered busting out shots off the chaingun.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade) - They had this game at the grocery store and I wish they still did?

Super Mario Bros./SMB2/SMB3 (NES) - They kept getting better on the NES, and worse on every subsequent system.

Metal Gear Solid (PSX) - The most dramatic gaming experience ever played. The other games were good, but this one had the perfect story, and by far the most memorable villains of any game.

WCW/nWo Revenge (n64) - Best fighting game ever made, unless you can tolerate the WWE, then I guess it'd be No Mercy.

Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade) - The greatest videogame ever made.

For franchise games I'm just gonna list my personal favorite, otherwise this list could be just Metroid, Zelda, Mario;

This is how I did it. Mario and Metroid are two of my favorite franchises, so I decided that each franchise got only one entry with my personal favorite of the series.

Metal Gear Solid

Killer 7

Spider-Man 2

Street Fighter 2

Max Payne/Max Payne 2 (could never decide which i liked best)

comics Zone

Resident Evil 4

Manhunt

Super Mario World

Grand Theft Auto 4

1. Ghostbusters: The Video Game. This game was set so perfectly within the Ghostbusters world. Taking one of my favorite franchises and putting me in the center is just brilliant. This is easily the most fun iv had with a game. Ever.

2. Shenmue - This was the first true "open" game that i remember playing. I thought the story was truly captivating and LOVED the whole "detective" type gameplay. Talking to people and following leads was a really cool touch that immersed you into the game.

3. Marvel vs Capcom 2 - IMO, this is the single best fighting game ever. It features an awesome roster of some of my favorite Marvel and Capcom characters with an awesome control scheme and really cool visual style.

4. Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic - By far my favorite Star Wars story out of ALL the Star Wars stories. Great characters with, like i said, a really cool story. This game would undoubtedly be number one on my list if it wasn't for the turn-based combat, imo, that accomplished nothing more than to suck you out of the gameplay.

5. Brothers in Arms : Road to Hill 30 - As a big WWII buff and HUGE fan of HBO's mini series Band of Brothers, this game did everything right. From the look and feel of WWII era France with great gameplay and an even better and truly engaging story, helps make this the best WWII game to date.

6. Hitman(all of em) - This game introduced me to my favorite videogame character of all time, that being Agent 47. I love the multiple, multiple paths you can take to eliminate each target.

7. Resident Evil(GC Remake) - This is the most chilling and heart racing piece of media iv ever experienced. The creepy atmosphere coupled with that very unrevealing camera helped make this one of the most exciting games iv ever played. I love the deep story that lies within the game, as well as some of the great characters.(Chris, Barry, Wesker = Awesome)

8. The Chronicles of Riddick : Escape from Butcher Bay - This is how you do movie tie in games. Everything was spot on, from the visuals, to the great hand to hand combat to the terrific voice acting, this game had it all. I think this game is arguably the best looking Xbox title.

9. Splinter Cell - While Metal Gear Solid may have turned me on to the idea of stealth, Splinter Cell pulled me into the world and never let me out. I loved the more realistic approach to the stealth genre.

10. Metal Gear Solid - This game introduced me to the idea of stealth in a game. I never knew that actually being patient in a game could be fun. MGS also has one of the absolute best stories iv ever encountered in a game. I never thought the gameplay was great, but just couldn't put the controller down because i was sooo eager to find out what happened next.

I had to alter my number one. Ghostbusters: The Video Game was just too well made and waaaayyyyy too much fun for a Ghostbusters nut like me to not have a blast with. Iv never had that much fun playing a game before.

1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater/Subsistence (PS2)
2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots (PS3)
3. Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons Of Liberty/Substance (PS2/Xbox)
4. Metal Gear Solid/VR Missions (PS1)
5. Kingdom Hearts/Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)
6. Street Fighter III 3rd Strike (ARC/DC/PS2/Xbox)
7. Okami (PS2)
8. Resident Evil 4 (PS2/GCN/Wii)
9. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic (Xbox)
10. Rez/Rez HD (DC/PS2/XBLA)

I almost tied MGS3 and MGS4 for number 1, but I think MGS3 edges out MGS4 slightly.

I really couldn't choose between KH1 and KH2 (Not played COM) so I had to tie them.

SFIII kind of polarizes me as I'm a much bigger fan of the characters of SFII, but I recognize that SFIII is the best of the two, and ol' thunder thighs is top of the tier list, where she belongs.

Okami and Rez are just beautiful titles, both overlooked and under appreciated to a criminal degree. Plus Rez had a vibrator for a controller, so you know :o

RE4 and KOTOR are obvious choices for reasons that's already been said thousands of times I'm sure. Half-Life, Half-Life 2 and Final Fantasy VI came pretty close to making the list. I could have just grouped MGS into one thing, but I decided not to

GTA IV - I love GTA3, very fond memories of that game, but IV wowed me over and over again.
Half-Life 2 - A solid story, solid gameplay, really fun to go back and play through. Episodes 1 and 2 are just icing on a delicious cake.
Fallout 3 - This game has sucked hours from my life. I have gone and done almost everything possible, which is a hell of a lot.
Mass Effect - Great story, great action gameplay. Really looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.
Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past - The beginning rain scene of this game is burned into my brain. Classic
Super Mario World - The epitome of Mario games, lots of levels and still a blast to play.
Metal Gear Solid - One of my favorite game stories of all time, the gameplay is not as fun as it used to be, but it's still a solid experience.
Pokemon Red/Blue - Nothing beats the originals, I spent forever getting my lvl. 100 team together.
Perfect Dark - I spent hours creating an evil organization of bots in multiplayer and my friend and I would go in and take them all out. Can't wait for its XBLA re-release.
Burnout Paradise - Burnout is the only racing series I ever got into, and Paradise is pure racing bliss.

Honorable mention to the Hitman series. I love it but I remember loving parts of each game, levels, never a game as a whole. None have given me a real solid experience. C'mon, Hitman 5!

No order:

Final Fantasy VII
This one probably is my number 1 favorite game of all time.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Huge Zelda freak. Ocarina of Time, but with a wolf. Love it!

Pokémon GSC
Not the best in the series (that would be the 1st gen games or the 4th gen games) but the 2nd generation games was an experience like no other.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Ultimate Nintendo fanservice.

Super Metroid
Huge Metroid fan. Metroid at its best. F*** those 3D Prime games.

Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES)
The original, old-school Ninja Ryukenden.

Chrono Cross
You'll forgive me for favoring Cross over Trigger, yes?

Mega Man 2
OMG THIS IS THE SHIZZLE! MEGA MAN PERFECTION!

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The best story in any Zelda game ever.

My taste changes over time, and yes, its only 9 games. If I had to have a 10th, Zelda II...
