Okay so there have been many good games so far this generation, but despite this, few of them are going to be showing up on any top 10 games of all time lists. So I figured I'd seperate it out to see what you guys think are the best games so far this generation. For me (soon to change when MGS4 comes out) its...

10. Condemned 2: Bloodshot - I like to keep a little variety in my games collection, and in a market dominated by first person shooters, sometimes you've got find what little variety you can. Although offering a first person view and guns, Condemned 2 is different from your typical shooter, which is why I like it so much. I'm willing to accept the original was probably much better, but I never got my hands on it. This serves as one of the scariest games I've ever played however, and is brilliantly brutal. Silly story aside, this is perhaps a very underated game.

9. Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock - Rock Band isn't out on PS3 over here and is way too expensive anyway, but I picked this up as my first Guitar Hero back at Christmas. Even though I suck at it, I really enjoy playing, and regulary put some time in to master songs on medium. Its just fun to play, very fun indeed.

8. Unreal Tournament 3 - Few online games draw me in for too long, but this is an acception to the rule. I sunk a good amount of time into this refreshing change from Call of Duty 4, and while I'm pissed with Epic being lazy and leaving features out that they've put in the 360 version, not being bothered about the obvious fact they haven't done as much as they can to make the PS3 version as great as possible, I'll always get lost in one game too many when I switch it on.

7. Rainbow Six: Vegas - This game came to me at a time of drought, and managed to stretch out over a good few months. I loved Rainbow Six 3, and always been one for hanging back and plotting over going all out with the guns. Again, it shows a nice bit of variety in the shooter genre, and a welcome change to Resistance and F.E.A.R. which I had been playing before.

6. Grand Theft Auto IV - You'd probably expect this to be closer to the #1 spot, but I've always been open in my opinion of GTA being overrated, and the same applies here. Friends calling you at any time and you suffering for not wanting to bowl or drive like a ****** was such a niggle for me that it definately knocked it off the 10 marker along with other things. That said, it is fantastic. The gameplay had been much improved and I found myself liking the characters for once, Niko moving up to be one of my favorite video game characters.

5. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Ask me a few months back, and I would have told you this game sucked. The enemies leveling up with you completely ruined it. But when I started it up again not long back, I tried it not going to sleep, so I didn't actually go up in level. Now its more like an actual RPG than ever. My skills still increase so I do get better, but the bad guys stay the same. No game can capture the feeling I get from loading this bad boy up and walking through the land, the breath taking music capturing the atmosphere wonderfully. Great game now.

4. Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - This is simple, down right fun. It runs so much smoother than the older ones, and is twice as fun to play. The comedy works perfectly, and I can settle myself into to enjoying the entire thing as much as a classic Pixar movies. Just that damned cliffhanger nearly had me crying.

3. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - You'll see me moan about this game quite a bit. Its not anything wrong with it, its that my favourite developer, Naughty Dog, I believe has more to offer than a 3rd person shooter, after the incredible Jak and Crash games. But even so, this serves as the best 3rd person shooter out there, and is the only other piece of entertainment media on the planet to capture the feeling I get from watching the Indiana Jones films, even if that's because its pretty much a direct copy. The attention to detail is astounding, claiming the best video game soundtrack composed and outstanding graphics. There's no game I've played through as many times as this incredible adventure, which I'd take over Kingdom of the Crystal Skull any day.

2. MotorStorm - Lack of options killed what could have been the very much deserved glowing reviews of this fantastic racer. It manages to capture intense heart pounding racing that keeps you coming back despite the lack of split screen, and I'm not a big racer fan. Truly underrated in my opinion, and the most accessible, pick up and play game out there. Plus got me into Wolfmother.

1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - No game in the history of man has managed to capture the feeling I got as I made a desperate rush through the radioactive ridden fields of Cheynoble, then stopping dead in my tracks as I found the enemy walking straight towards me. That same feeling was replicated when McMillan makes a mad dash to the trucks, surrounded by enemies, just seconds later. In fact, Call of Duty 4 holds hundreds of this jaw dropping, heart stopping moments, that can't be matched by an other video game. Its the full package, so increidble that the length I didn't mind about. And this is all without mentionning the online mutliplayer that was the first to keep me coming back after more than a round or so. Truly fantastic.

1. MGS4 - Yes its not out just yet, but Im sure in 4 days I will be placing it here
2. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
3. GTA IV
4. CoD4
5. Oblivion
6. Burnout Paradise
7. Warhawk
8. Ratchet and Clank Future: ToD
9. Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Cant think of a 10th at the moment

Dead Rising rules but aside form that as my personal fave, I have to go with:

1. Fallout 3 - It doesn't need to be out to pwn all.
2. BioShock
3. Orange Box
4. GTA4
5. Call of Duty 4
6. Mass Effect
7. Assassin's Creed
8. Super Mario Galaxy
9. Ratchet & Clank TOD
10. World in Conflict

I'll drink to that Fallout 3 statment.

Company Of Heroes (Next to the original Call of The Duty one of the best world war 2 games)

Half life Episode 2 (Felt more in the spirit of the first halflife, vast improvement over episode 1)

The Witcher (under appreciated gem, would have scored higher if not for bugs)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyle (flawed brilliance what Dues Ex 2 should have been)

Portal (unexpected gem, hoping for portal gun appears in Episode 3)

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer (better than the initial never winter nights 2 release, goes to show add ons can be little more can something tacked on, not perfect though, would have scored higher if not for game play niggles)

Bioshock (watered down System Shock 2, still good, some of the best art direction seen in a game)

Call Of Duty 4 (good game, kinda feels like call of duty with skins though)

Crysis (Good gameplay, bad story, don't care about any of the charecters cliche' ridden, wasted opportunity)

Age of Conan (excellent game, moved away from fairy's and Elfs, buggy, lots of server downtime, premature release. Would have scored higher.

No order.

1. MGS4. Comes out in a few mins (about to go get it), but very confident it will be my fave.

2. Half Life 2. IMO the best FPS series going. It has a solid story, and the graphics and physics just really felt like the first true next gen game to me. Plus you can't beat the uber powered up gravity gun tossing ppl around :).

3. COD4. Slightly edges Warhawk out for it's epic single player mode, Warhawk gets a slight edge in multi-player tho.

4. Warhawk. Just an overall fun experience. Nothing about Warhawk feels like a chore, it has massive maps, and is just so damn open ended. Feel like getting in a tank? Go for it. Drop ship? Sure. Dog fight in a Warhawk? Feel free. Feel like going postal on foot? Can do that too.

5. GTA4

6. Oblivion

7. Portal. Portal is just so simple yet complex, and is addicting.

8. Motorstorm

9. Uncharted

10. Ratchet & Clank. Don't own it, but the demo wow'd me and will pick it up eventually. That and no other title not on my list stood out to me as much as this.

Call of Duty 4
Grand Theft Auto IV
Portal
Team Fortress 2
Half-Life 2: Episode 2
Mass Effect
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Rock Band
Gears of War
Bioshock

1. MGS 4

2. Oblivion

3. Burnout Paradise

4. Heavenly Sword

5. Devil May Cry 4

6. Ninja Gaiden 2

7. Motorstorm

8. Halo 3

9. Assassin's Creed

10. Gears of War

I'm going to find this hard, as I can't buy that many games, and a lot of the games so far have been flawed in some way (so I've done 5):

Rainbow Six Vegas: The thinking man's tactical shooter. Less rushing, less mindless strafing, position, tactics and picking out sweet, glorious headshots with a pistol behind cover make this my personal online shooter before even COD4.

The Orange Box: 4 1/2 great games in one box. I've still not completed HL2 yet, but it is a brilliant, pulsing example of game design. Portal is absolutely top notch, technically brilliant whilst strangely nostalgic. Only TF2 lets the team down for me.

Call of Duty 4: A brilliantly cinematic if slightly limited and forced single player game, but online is where its at. Frantic, messy and full of absolute ****, the feeling of joy whilst taking down arrogant kids/american/french people (not a slight on people's nationality, just and observation that most arrogant/aggressive people online seem to employ those accents) is sublime. I think its great, everyone agrees, its technically better in RSV in every way but I prefer more tactics and less random action.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008: Plagued with lag online, some dodgy defence AI on the counter attack, but still a great game of football. Not really a patch on last gen's efforts (as admitted by Seabass himself) but I still garner enjoyment from it, if only n00bs would stop using Barca and Inter.

Fight Night Round 3: Great to look at, instinctive to play. Is it noobish to, after having dismissed the sport and had no interest in it, have your mindset flipped around to have an imense respect of the athleticism, rhythm and grace of a boxer based upon your experience with a game? Either way credit to game, its opened up my eyes and its a decent game to boot.

Honourable mentions:

GTA4: Technically great, brilliant graphics, superb sound and attention to detail. However, it isn't as fun as last gen, the locales all seem a (realistic admittedly) shade of brown/grey, the humour is so pushed back its almost invisible, the missions are also the least spectacular of all the GTA 3D games and the missions are too restrictive. The online, whilst a valiant effort is a laggy mess for me, and shows GTA up for what it can be broken down into, either aimless wandering, or a basic jack of all trades.

Motorstorm: Superb racer, the different vehicle classes are excellently implemented and the soundtrack is great. However, lack of split screen, and the lack of tracks make it too limited to be proclaimed as a great just yet.

Ratchet and Clank: Good to look at, decent to play. But not as creative or quite as fun to play as the originals on the PS2 for me. Quickly descends into a mish mash of previous levels and slightly bland set pieces.

Also own: SmackDown vs Raw! 2008 (not mine, could care less), Turok (again not mine, never played), 2K Baseball game (not mine, alright to play), Madden NFL (okay, I like NFL, but have gone off the sims).

No doubt MGS4 will rule, but I'm not putting it on my list because I've never played it.
