My friend from Germany wants to know why Americans use the term "Awesome" even when it is overused, sounds dumb, and even Europe (which is always behind the US on trends) doesn't even use it anymore.

I toild him when I got back to the States, I'd see what I could do about eradicating "awesome" from our everday use.

Thought I'd start here!

Ehrfürchtig!

Opps almsot forgot

Heil ******!

I've never liked the term awesome. Always makes me think of typical upper middle class suburbia. No, I don't care for upper middle class suburbia. The guys that used to say, "Dude, awesome!" in high school were the ones we always snickered and pointed at.

Ill is this generation's Awesome just like "da bomb" was the 90s' Awesome

Well a German obviously wouldn't understand the fact that it's now used with a sense of irony, since Germans don't understand humor. Maybe they'll get it when they catch up to this second implimentation.

I swear to God, every time I read your posts, I picture a 3 panel Boondocks strip accompying it.:thing:

I think "awesome" did die out for awhile, but then it made a come back, proving how awesome the word "awesome" is.

I like saying "right on", but it's starting to lose its flava for me.

"O RLY?"

Okay. But you realize that we must replace a*****e with something else...

Radical, perhaps? How about tubular? I miss tubular.

Rad, tight, dope, gnarly, fire, sick, nice, cool, fantastic, hot.. List goes on.

"Awesome" is fine as long as it isn't accompanied by "wicked"

How about "Awesomely wicked"? It's grammatically correct, at least...

You know what, I think I'm going to start saying that to all the Boston jackasses at school.

Heres a nice lesson for you all...the term "awesome" derives from the word "awe" The definition of awe is "an overwhelming feeling of wonder or admiration" If you see...i dunno lets say, a nice brand new Farrari. You look at it and admire its style, look, feel, and performance, you are in "awe" of these features, therefore, its "awesome". Its just a word, even more so than "cool, tight, rad, tubular, or sick".

Was ist Unrecht mit diesem wort "awsome"? Ich finden awsome zu Liebling wort! LOL I did a rant in German bout the word. LOL
