When Are WE Going to Get Over It?

Both sides need to "get over it." White people are not to blame for all of the problems faced by minorities and minorities need to get their own houses in order. On the other side of the same coin, whites need to stop being so suspicious of people with dark skin. We need to "fix" ourselves, because we cant fix others.

I agree and I think of the so-called minority groups, its us African-Americans who need to get it together the most, especially economically.

I had this conversation with my co-worker the other night. She quoted Bill Cosby as saying that white people are not the problem for the black community. She went on about how "Shenequa" needs to get off her butt, stop having welfare babies and get to school. While I agreed that education would help minorities tremendously, there is still discrimination in this country. She just rolled her eyes and walked away.

That, imo, is the real problem. Everything is "the other guy's" problem. "It's not my fault, you deal with it."

THIS! ^^^^ This is the problem with many things in this nation, MANY things. That and the "I'm entitled to..." attitude.

Yup. Its coming down to basic greed. "Screw you, I want mine."

Entitlement and "Nothing being anyone's fault anymore" is the downfall of our society.

That, and "We'll deal with it later." The national debt, etc. There is no urgency to solving problems, no responsibility anymore. We've gotten lazy, greedy and soft. [/end rant]

Everybody remember that alleged gang rape of that stripper by the Duke lacrosse players? That had national attention, even had Al Sharpton coming here to NC talking about it?

How come this story isn't getting as much attention? Oh that's right, because the scum that did it are black also. When whites commit crimes against a black person it's horrendous, atrocious, it's an outrage! But when it's blacks on black, it's downplayed. It's like someone out there wants to continue this divide, that black people are still being oppressed. That they are still being brought down.

I think those that are still living in ghettos or in poverty have no more excuses. It's been at least 30 years since you've had the same opportunities as everyone else. What have you done with it?

People should not be living in absolute poverty or squalor in America. There is absolutely no excuse, I'm sorry.

well considering this story broke over the holiday weekend, I heard about it just last night

the Duke story didn't break until almost a week after it happened, and no BS, I knew that chick we were in A School in the Navy together (job training),
