Resident Evil was always one of those game series I just never got into. I remember back when it was huge around the time of Resident Evil 2 and everyone was playing it, I played it once at friend's house and I was like the control scheme sucks, **** this. So flash forward 10 years later and the trailer to the third movie's been released, and I was like damn let me give this game series a second shot. So I went out and bought the remake of Resident Evil 1 for GameCube, Z0mG IT'S ****ING AWESOME!!!

To be honest, I've never really played the survival horror genre, unless you count Parasite Eve which I played way back in the day... Anyway so the control scheme still sucks after all these years but you quickly get use to it. What I love about this game it's the first time I actually care about the story, like most of the time I just want play the frickin game, I don't give a damn about the story. But in this game, the way the camera is used, the sparing cut scenes, the atmosphere, it just ropes you into this story because it adds depth to the gameplay.

I need to get RE 2 and 3 after this one... My friend has RE 4 already but I want play 2 and 3 first.

Don't forget to play RE: Code Veronica as well before 4. Good to see the series gain a new fan. It's like in my top 3 gaming franchises EVAH.

I noticed there was a great deal many games in this series... Which ones should I play... I have nearly every system(Barring Current Gen) so I can play any of them.

Well obviously play 2 and 3. 2 is essentially, 4 different games in one. Code Veronica too. Don't waste your time with Dead Aim or the Outbreak series though.

The main series storyline is the only ones worth your time...

Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and Resident Evil 4 form the main storyline.

Stick to those. Then buy a 360/PS3 and get Resident Evil 5.

I remember borrowing RE1 from my cousin and playing it one weekend and that game scared the sh-t out of me. Loved it. RE2 was my favorite. I played RE3 and enjoyed it too. I had RE:CV on the DC and didnt get too far before the game got lost. I got RE4 last year but wanted to play and complete CV first so I got it for the PS2 but I still havent played either. Only did the first chapter of RE4. I really need to get back into them

Congratulations. you just coined "Z0mG." THE LAMEST TERM EVER.

I agree, atleast at the time it came out the 1st one was amazing. It gave me my first ever "Jump" moment in a game. I mean I've stood up in a game at a good part, but never actually left my seat like that before.

The first one just did so much right that no zombie game had done before it. The second was good too, but I still liked the first the best. The third one was so-so to me, and the series had started to get a feeling of "Played one played them all", atleast to me, but loved Nemesis. Never had a villain in a game chased you actually from room to room busting through walls like that before (to my knowledge). I tried Veronica after that, and just didn't care for it. I played it through, but after the first 3 nothing really made me jump, which is why I liked the series so much. I haven't tried 4 and don't really want to, I may someday though.

It really is a good series, but IMO it need to go back to it's roots. Less big guns, more desperate running. Also maybe if they cut back on the things jumping through a window deal because while good at first it was overdone to the point that it's now expected.

RE4 was more action oriented rather than horror. It was an amazing game, but I hope RE5 is downright scary.

RE:4's horror came from a different place than RE:1-CV. While the pre-4 games relied on shock moments and loud noises to scare you, 4 focused much more on claustrophobia (being locked up in a little house while hundreds of villagers pound at your doors and windows). At least for the first half of the game. Yeah...the second half was pretty much all action.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the top 5 greatest games I've ever played.

Truly a horror-fest, and Matt nails the claustrophobia factor.

The control scheme is a lot faster. It's a fixed third person view, so it's kind of hard to play sometimes until you master the 180 turn, but yeah, it's really different. Built from the ground up. Plus it's widescreen so, from me. It's loaded with intense moments. Hahah, I'll never forget a part where you have to barricade yourself in a house as the villagers keep pouring in, and you have to keep shooting them. Just a nonstop flow, coming in through the windows without a break. My hands were shaking from all the adrenaline, haha.

I dunno, I felt that RE4 really took the most inspiration from the zombie horror genre, and had some of the most genuine scares in the series. The zombies acted like they were right out of a Lucio Fullci movie, and that part where
you're stuck in that cabin while all the town's residents converge on you, was like playing out Night of the Living Dead and genuinely had my heart racing
meanwhile, the second disc was entirely out of modern zombie movies and it nearly gave me a heart attack.

Yea RE:4 is unlike any of the previous games and, imo, its by far THE best RE out there. Resident Evil is one of, if not the greatest franchise that has ever been created.

I think the one of the scariest parts of the game was when you had not one, but two of those blind beast guys in the same room with you. Not only that, but you had cultists in the room after you too lol

I thought the scariest part of the game was hands down:

When you had to venture into the hedge maze and those damn scary ass dogs jump out and bite you in the ass, damn i hated those things.

The coolest part of the game tho, was when i first met a regenerator. Took his head smooth off and was like yea, yea , yea, then i saw it regrow and was like, awww f**k.

What hasn't Capcom made remakes of Resident 2 and 3?

The second Resident Evil, for PSX, was my favorite RE-game ever and I think if they did a remake of this, it would become one of the best games in the world. Forever.

Has there been any news about a remake of the second game? I know that they're making RE5 and a game that's just gonna be on the Wii. I remember hearing around the time the remake of the first one came out they were remaking the second and third one also. Instead they just ported them over to the GC. Instead of making crap like Gaiden, Survivor, and Dead Aim they could have worked on remakes..but no.

I remember playing those Resident Evil games back in the day. Those were pretty cool. I will have to pick this one up.

Yeah the RE series is the best in gaming to me. I love the original RE game along with the Remake on the cube those were my favorite in the series.

I always wanted them to remake RE2. It's the best of the series. The way it allowed the player to play two scenarios in any order that connected with eachother in real-time was brilliant.

After playing it, Leon was by far my favorite and was hoping they'd bring him back. And he was even cooler in RE4, which is my second fav or the series.

That's one of the reasons why it was my favorite. I loved that you could choose either to play Leon or Claire first, beat the game with them, then play it again from the other character's perspective. I wonder they didn't do this in future games. Hell why did they stop having two main characters to chose?

Was it ever confirmed if either Leon A/Claire B was canon or Claire A/Leon B was?

Yeah I agree the 2 scenarios for each character and 2 characters to choose from beginning to end was a great feature. It should definately be brought back to the series.

So I beat the game... Then I played it again so I could get Samurai Edge, I needed to beat the game in 5 hours, I beat it in 5 hours and 3 minutes... ****! :cmad:
