I thought Id create a thread for the entire series and keept it from getting lost in the RE 5 news thats going on in that thread. Just be warned there are spoilers for those who havent played through the games

After 7 years I finally beat Resident Evil CV. What a great game it was. Out of the main RE titles I have played RE1-CV, I thought this one had the best story. The twin mystery was pretty good and I loved seeing the Redfields reunited and thought everything came together perfectly. Some questions though

1. Im a bit confused on the twins. Were they clones of Veronica?

2. At the end Chris tells Claire that they need to take down umbrella. Is that where his story picks up in RE5?

3. I havent played the original in about 10 years. Was that place in the Antarctic base a replica of the mansion? It looked familiar and the vase statue puzzle definetly did.

4. If that was a replica of the mansion, why did the twins have it built in the base?

5. Exactly how did Wesker get the red eyes and powers? Was this revealed in RE1 or was this new in CV?

6. Did I miss or was there any mention of Leon and/or Jill?

7. Also why was this game title CV and not RE4? It followed Claire and Chris following them from RE1 and 2. Its not like it was a side story or spinoff. It was a main RE game and I never got why it wasnt given the next sequential number

8. Why did Wesker allow Chris to live when he could have easily killed him off?

Overall great game but I thought it was too easy. There was so much ammo around and herbs too. I never ran out of anything

I've been meaning to play Code Veronica. I wish Resident Evl 4 had endless ammo and a lot of herbs. It seems in Resident Evil 4 you run the risk of running out of ammo quicker due to being surrounded all the time.

Is Code Veronica scarier/better than RE2 and RE3?

Im not sure if I can give a fair assesment bc honestly its been years since Ive touched those 2 titles. I last played through them when they first came out, but I plan on replaying them in the future.

I dont think CV was scarier. I really didnt find it scary at all. You wont have that fear factor like Nemesis did with RE3. As far as better, its a matter of opinion. I could never choose between 2 or 3. RECV is different but a good different. It definetly has the better story

1 RE game down and 5 more to go. I was going to play RE4 but I think it might be a better idea to leave it for last. I have to decide whether to get Remake or Zero first

CV and RE1 has the best story!!!

I've been playing CVX for the first time, and am not digging it...I actually think it's quite a bit harder than the other RE's, I'm constantly running out of herbs and ammo, and the puzzles seem harder than any of the other games were...

really? I thought it was the easiest of the RE games and there is tons of ammo and herbs out there. I ended the game with a whole lot of herbs and First aid sprays in my storage box as well as ammo for my guns. How far into the game are you? Ammo seems more scarce at first but it doesnt become an issue futher in

I just got to the second disc

I have been a fan of the Resident Evil Franchise since the very first game came out on the Playstation, I love this series to death. My favorite game is actually the remake of the original Resident Evil, I found it to be a truly frightening experience. I also love Resident Evil 2, 3 and Code Verionica, as well as Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 0. I haven't really played the shooter series, so I cannot comment on those. I've got all the Resident Evil novels, even the comic magazine series that came out back then. As for the movies, I only like the first one and even that didn't feel like RE to me but Matrix meets Night of the Living Dead, and one day I hope for a reboot on the movie series. Oh well, what can you do?

I cannot wait for Resident Evil 5.

8. Why did Wesker allow Chris to live when he could have easily killed him off?

1. Alfred and Alexia were born twins I think not clones.
2. RE3 Has Epilouges which state Chris Redfield chasing his sister Claire through Europe. Hard to say how much time has passed since this.
3. Yes
4. Because the Ashford family had ties to creating the orignal mansion.
5. It is still unknown, he appears to have been modified by unknown rival company. However he still wishes to rebuild umbrella.
6. Not in this game
7. I agree it makes no sense to not count this as 4 but oh well what can you do.
8. Wesker may of thought there was more use to for Chris later

the answer to #5 is acutally that he injected a special virus given to him by William Birkin after he was attacked by the Tyrant in RE1. It healed him and made him superhuman.

6. Not in this game
I rememberd after someone told me, but Claire sent an email to Leon early in the game regarding Chris. Thats how Chris got to the island to look for her

Yeah, Claire sends an e-mail to Leon to find Chris and tell him where she's at. He gets it, but by that time she's already in the antarctic.

How the heck does Leon even know how to contact Chris? He didnt know him. If he did know where Chris was, then how come Claire didnt?

Thanks for the clean up. I had not played these in a long time. Where did the Birkin virus for Wesker info come from as I swear it was not in game canon....I could be wrong.

Wesker Report that came with Code Veronica X. You can view it on Youtube

they also mention it in RE Zero if I'm not mistaken...

Of course!! Oh I remember that now, I do like the extras that come out on other version of RE games even if it is a bit anoying. Like RE4 on the PS2 came with the real Ada Wong story arc. Takes a lot to go and buy the same game again on other consoles to get the extras.

Of the 4 main REs I found 4 the easiest (save on the Highest difficulty). Ammo is easy to come by, when weapons are upgraded you use less ammo, Health can be restored not only by herbs but purchasable First Aid sprays and Eggs. It...lacked something that the other Resident Evils had. Maybe its the realtively seclusive rural setting as compared to the ever chaotic Racoon City or Arklay Mountains. I never got to play Zero unfortunately.

Yeah RE4 was different not so much lacking for me. RE4 was a more open more faster feel than the other games. You have greater control of your character which is the way the games must go to save face. If we were still playing with stiff back and forward moving characters we would start to questions the gameplay. I found this game more intense but less scary.

I found it more Spy-ish than Zombie-killing.

Yeah it had a more controlled feel to it, a little more sleek and stealth. Which was fantastic for a game like this. Really went over well with me. Never forget the opening of the game.

No...not with a line like "Bingo" to ruin it. But honestly, it was more survival than Survival-Horror. The presence of the merchant as well as Spanish-educated Zombie/Parasites and Al-Qaeda ripoffs truly killed the fear factor, not to mention moves like the suplex which even you must admit is ridiculous. I do't really hate the game but I felt that these little things should have been left out to at least give the game a sense of fear. Its bad enough Leon drops corny one-liners and is pretty fearless throughout the game.

Gawd the portrait puzzle was the worst. Hated it. Second disc gets a little easier. You get an Assault Rifle but put it in your Item Box. Save it for Chris. And I hope you got the Magnum.

Yeah Code: Veronica was one of the hardest. Especially when your dealing with those bastard Hunter-Killers...

A thorn in my RECV side. Blast you Wesker!
