Zac Efron is Ted Bundy

I think Bundy's "good looks" are over-exaggerated. If he were drop dead gorgeous, people would've identified him earlier. He was just average looking, which is why he got away with it. Bundy would probably love Efron being cast at him since he is arguably pretty damn good looking.

Yea Efron is quite a bit more attractive and, at least in court, less crazy eyes than the real Bundy.

Reviews are a bit middle of the road so far with Efron being the stand out.

Um aren’t movie versions always better looking versions of their real life counterparts.

Usually. Even with their looks downplayed, Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan were still better looking than Tonya Harding and Jeff Gilooly, and a fugly dude like Philippe Petit got played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes a new Netflix documentary showing actual courtroom footage and interviews to get an idea on what this guy was like.

A creature of habit always trying to project his own version of reality; an outcast always straining to fit in just as important as indulging to the fullest when he felt no one was looking to satisfy his inner nature. Ted Bundy truly was something else.

On another documentary, it's said that while a bit maladjusted he was seemingly obediant yet could be a bit of a problem child especially when younger. He would place knives around the bed of his aunt and distantly observe as she woke up shocked about it. He also liked to build tiger traps too but his need for acceptance and tight order kept his urges in check surprisingly until it unravelled at a later age. One of the things that helped him cope was his way with words as he spoke to his mother as she typed stuff out on the typewriter dictating to her every once in a while when she was writing giving him a sense of context and importance that he thrived.

He was also a sucker for habit. Once he got going he would not stop. There was something utterly wrong and off with him. Everything was a door towards spin with him and an animalistic indulgence he trepiditiously would dance around giving vapid context to his life within most of his prison interviews... How evil he could be I think people don't quite comprehend or do they?

I recommend this documentary over this fictional movie portrayal. Sure documentaries can be a fictional contextualization to some extent too but at least you get to see the actual individual and make your own inferences on what they were like. His interactions with the Florida judge in the documentary are pretty interesting as they are with the Florida sheriff; the one who measuredly dealt with him (can tell Bundy subtly got under his skin as he did Bundy's) then mentions at the end of the documentary he hoped if there was a hell he hopes Bundy's getting burned there right now. Truly interesting documentary to see how various people interacted with him and their impression as of today.

Just gonna throw this out there, though, the same guy did the documentary AND the movie.

After glimpsing through another documentary on youtube, it seems it may be said that it was somewhat equally important to him to non-secretly exist in his idealized reality as it was to secretly satisfy his inner urges.

He couldn't correlate the two hence why he never went after his few girlfriends he could get I suppose and sought to emulate those he perceived as being successful in the sort of social circle he longed for to increase HIS self worth. His response to the door to door morman soliciting shows he needed that rigid structure to really be able to project himself and willing to jump in with whatever worked at a moments notice. He was not a reader or a thinker yet found law and politics as a coat he could wear. Crazy person that really makes me wonder who his father was or family history...

There still seems to be a lot unknown about him to really come face to face with who he truly was and is still a mystery to an extent.

I just watched the Netflix documentary the last couple nights. The movie I suppose I'll watch as well just to see how the depictions compare. He seems a lot more charming in the movie version though perhaps a bit too normal as opposed to straining to seemingly be normal judging by trailer but will perhaps give it a try.

Zac Efron Ted Bundy Pic ‘Extremely Wicked’ Sells To Netflix – Sundance

After staying quiet for the most part during Sundance, Netflix has emerged taking U.S. rights and some foreign for Voltage Pictures’ Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile for a reported $9M. Pic, directed by Joe Berlinger, tells the story of mass-murderer Ted Bundy (Zac Efron) but seen through a viewpoint of his imagined innocence. Lily Collins plays his devoted partner, with Haley Joel Osment, Kaya Scodelario, John Malkovich and Jim Parsons also starring. An awards season theatrical run is planned.

Interesting. Probably more of an audience for this film on Netflix than is theaters.

Awesome trailer, really looking forward to this the documentary series was very good

Apparently, this is out on Netflix now? Looking forward to watching tonight.

I think the film handled the subject in an incredibly respectful way with solid performances across the board. I believe the mixed reception largely comes from that they do not show Bundy commit any of the crimes. All of the murders happen off screen.

Yeah it was very respectful. Like the documentary the film didn't focus on gruesome aspects of the crimes, let's face it he was a monster regardless of how horrific the crimes were - he took so many lives. Efron was fantastic and in the final minutes he really showed how much hatred, rage and frustration hid under surface. Very interesting approach to the story with so many great performances

Zac Efron killed it and was great
. I just couldn't get into this dumb story of love and betrayal

Movie was too safe for me and I understand why but still

I'm disturbed by the people wanting to see the graphic crimes etc. Isn't there enough of violence against women out there? That is the problem with people not with the movie that it didn't show gore.

Dont have to see that but they just skimmed through his first escape unless I missed it

His first escape was through the window, wasn't it? It's there.

Same, haha. They should've given the guard a different line. "No physical contact" or just anything different to remind Arrested fans of that joke.

Watched this last night and overall I thought it was just ok. Efron was good as Ted Bundy, but I still don't know how I feel about the overall direction and tone of this movie. Not that I needed to see him graphically murder women, but I really do wish they captured the horror behind the murders better. Outside of maybe two or three scenes I felt it was really lacking in that area, but I still give props to the director for at least trying doing something different.

I think a few more short scenes that give a glimpse into the investigation prior to his capture would have helped out a lot, they also should've spent more time on his escapes, especially the first one, they got to his recapture so quickly that I can't help but wonder why they included his first escape at all.

I thought it was pretty lame. The movie doesn't even emphasis what he did, or why he's even in jail, you're just supposed to know it. So it basically followed Ted Bundy around from jail to jail, while he tries to convince his girlfriend that he's not a monster, even though the movie never went into detail as to why he's in jail. Even both of his escapes were so anti-climatic, that right after he escaped, he was right back in prison trying to convince his girl that he's innocent.

And look, I get it, Ted Bundy is one of the most famous serial killers out there, but the movie just goes straight into him pleading his innocence, without really showcasing or explaining any of his crimes. They just missed the mark. I think they focused way too much on him just sitting in jail pleading his innocence. Who cares about that, when we know he's not. They already expect you to know everything, so why focus on Bundy trying to convince his girlfriend about his innocence?

The actors were good, it's just the director and script chose to focus on the most boring aspects of Bundy.
