What do you think of the new aspect ratio ?

My favourite aspect ratio(personal preference) is the wide 2.40 : 1 which is used in most films nowadays(also in BvS and MOS). There is still some debate whether Zack will use 1.66 : 1 which is basically the theatrical AR(just with slightly taller and thin bars in the sides). I don't mind that one since that was used in Marriage Story as well and the bars on the sides were mixing with the bezels on my laptop and I couldn't tell.

Now for the 1.33 : 1 AR that is also rumoured, it will definitely be very polarising imo. Its the same AR that was used in The Lighthouse/Ghost Story/First Reform, and while I like it(it has a vintage vibe) I know friends who find it distracting, one even said it gave him ocd lol.

It will give a much taller screen but will have bars on sides. Definitely not meant for viewing on widescreen TVs, more suitable for the big screen I think. I wouldn't be shocked if we get both options, with 1.66 : 1 on HBO Max and then 1.33 : 1 on Blu Ray as an option, and in limited theatre screenings.

Would have preferred a 1.85 : 1 ratio but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. If he wants to have the movie in an unconventional aspect ration then let him.

Zack said something about the 166 being similar to IMAX proportionally but a little wider and that he decided on the taller aspect ratio because of the vertical elements such as very tall bad-guys and flying scenes etc... something along those lines...

Almost the same as HDTV, slight bars on sides...
I'd like to hear the reasoning for not just going 16:9

If Snyder is doing it differently, there MUST be a good reason for it. For all things that Snyder does is in perfect order and symmetry. There are no mistakes in Snyder's world. We must all remember, in Snyder we trust.

But Whedon had to get his hilarious brunch 'joke' in there.

I think some of this is Snyder stuff. Several of these sequences were mentioned during the set visit recaps bloggers posted. There are some reshot/CGI'd Cyborg elements, and score differences.

I hated this shot so much. I know this is very superficial. Why give us a close up of her butt? the angle makes it look even more flat not a good shot imo.

Amy Adams has always been super passionate and supportive of Lois, Zack, and more. Her Lois has had plenty to do in the films. If anything, she is in the same boat as Zack in being frustrated with how the studio pushed for her more expansive and compelling work in films like BvS and JL to be cut in service of a beleaguered studio's agenda.

Might be, but something about the butt shot makes me lean more toward Whedon. I also look at Ben's appearance and his hair/wardrobe isn't consistent with the Snyder stuff.

Lois had plenty to do in MOS and BVS.

I think Adams just gets asked about these films less often than Cavill etc.
She isn't wearing a costume and has a more varied and extensive filmography, so I don't think most people look at her and instantly think of these films.

Ha! I was watching Watchmen the other day and thought what if Zack picked this track for the trailer (he said he had something better than Come Together on Vero a few weeks ago). I for one think this would be very cool and different compared to the usual generic le epic themes that Superhero trailers have.
