Personally, I prefer the accent. I think one of the things that bugged me about the chemistry between Mera and Arthur in Aquaman was that their banter was too fast and felt forced. Athur is a an informal guy, he'll speak his mind, he'll use colloquialisms, he can be vulgar, a guy you would have a beer with. Mera is of royalty. I would expect her to speak more slowly, sound more educated. She didn't come across that way to me in Aquaman but she sounded more regal in ZSJL, imo.
