I think HBOMax might want to continue but budget and full cast returning will be the issue. It is a major hurdle

So I just had an interesting idea just right now about moving forward storywise. Like I'm sure a good deal of peeps here isn't too hot on Supes being revived only to fall again in the next film to the antilife, and have Flash rewind time to have Bruce do his sacrifice and the Kent baby being named after him.

But what if, instead of going directly into that story, they do a proper Superman and JL film, have some ears pass, with the Kent baby being born and grow a little, maybe a teen (time skip shenanigans), before Darkseid invades. It can still go the route of Superman succumbing to antilife after Lois get's smoked, but this time the resistance will have Jon Kent too, so a link to Superman that the audience can get behind while simultaneously fighting against his mind controlled evil Superman dad. The rest of the story can happen according to the Flash time travel plan, just adjusted a bit to incorporate Jon. This way, we get to see Superman, the JL, and Jon grow before **** goes down, and it gives the audience a Kent to get behind while Superman himself goes bad.
That'd be cool. Or they somehow work out a deal where there must be a Mo2 2 first. Either WB or Zack find a director to handle it while he's working on JL2.

Similar to how Wonder Woman and JL came out months apart.

I think you REALLY need a proper Superman movie so you dont risk major backlash. Seeing hin in all his glory and then succumbing to Darskeid the next film would be devastating (in a good way)

Getting Ray Fisher, Jared Leto, Henry Lennix, Amber Heard and Ezra Miller might not be difficult.

Cavill would need to check with his Witcher shooting schedule (assuming that he's interested), biggest hurdle is getting back Ben Affleck. If it's a limited episode series or a mini movie (100 minutes), I can see it happening.

With the positive reception of Super kids on CW, WB/HBO should really ride that train with a Jon Kent on film to juxtapose against his anti-life controlled dad in knightmare timeline.

Theoretically they could but making a 250M (or 500M if they made both together) movie for a streaming service probably wouldn't pay off.

Zack said he planned on shooting JL2/2A together to offset cost. He also said he's experimenting with the new Mandalorian tech for VFX. I think they can do it for a $400M budget, and that seems not so outrageous if HBO Max can get 2 seasons worth of content out of it(look at the budget for LOTR show for example). It would be their headliner ofcourse. Set for 2023 and 2024. I think a lot of it would be more character driven like JL was, and I think Snyder would thrive on that. But yeah, they need to solve two hurdles before that : first is bringing the cast together(not that difficult), and second being getting Snyder to work with the execs again.

Very odd to say it is not cannon and then try to say that he cannot add a GL cameo because they may use him in the future. Kind of goes against the entire "It's not cannon" argument.

Only reason is, that they are scared that Snyder's version will be loved and seen by more people than whatever GL they will do. Its petty, that's what it is.

Also, I liked Snyder's reaction to WB saying they had plans to do it. "When?"

Lmao, that's just cold. Its true though and its been years, and I bet it would be many more till we see a GL.

Why is Snyder partially obsessed with Lois & Clark's future son, en passant?

Truthfully, despite I've always advocated for the brilliance — both “BvS” and his “Justice League” are mostly magnificent, for me — of his interpretations, his plans for the hypothetical “JL 2” seem to be out-of-focus, in my opinion; at least, for:

1) Superman: overall, he'd become a character driven by sheer irrationality, entirely defined — both in “JL 1” & “JL 2” — by his relationship with Lois;

2) I might be septarian, but “wasting” Batman's sacrifice for the ending of the second movie of the trilogy would appear unnecessary and anti-climatic;

3) Lois: completely transformed in a “narrative tool”, rather than being an all-around character.

I’ve posted this before but I don’t think WarnerMedia would’ve spent the fortune it cost to finish and market this (there’s no way this behemoth cost only $70m to fix) for them not to continue it.

I wish we could have gotten at least ONE scene of Lois going back to being a journalist again. It would have been great to see her comeback article be about the Justice League.

After ZS'JL, people will be interested in Zack Kirby's New Gods and Apokolips worlds. Get the creative Directors work together for Part 1 and Part 2, let Ava do Part 1 and Zack Part 2.

The New Gods were among the best thing about JL for me. That dynamic was so well done.

I love how WB murdered Cyborg's arc in 2017 then forced John Stewart to be cut out of this one, not mentioning the issues with the writer of Krypton :funny:

All that hashtag BLM & JJ Black Superman

And then the studio had told me I wasn't allowed to shoot anything. That there would be no film made of any kind. During production, that was a thing they insisted on. And I shot stuff anyway, of course, in my yard. And one of the things I shot was the Green Lantern scene. And then they asked me, when they saw the movie and saw that I put it in there, they'd take it out. And I said that I would quit if they tried to take it out. And I felt bad. The truth is I didn't want the fans to not have a movie, just based on that one stand that I was going to take.

And the Green Lantern was John Stewart. And that was part of it too. I was like, I don't want to take a person of color out of this movie. I'm not going to do it. And, but then, but I felt like having Harry Lennix's Martian Manhunter at the end was, that was okay.

Well, frankly, the studio was against it(Martian Manhunter) and nobody wanted that. Everyone was like, "Martian Manhunter? No." I was like, "I think it's cool." I had drawn that little scene with him and pitched it to everybody in post, frankly. I know [what people are] saying, "Oh, Zach came up with that idea later." But they can say whatever they want. That's a fine point of view, but it's just not the case. Then they told me not to shoot it. I just was like, "Look, this is the scene we shot, guys. We shot the scene with Green Lantern." The ask is for my movie. Right? We hadn't shot the Green Lantern side, but we shot Ben's side. So then when I did the Green Lantern scene with Martian Manhunter [instead], I just reshot Ben's side as well.

And I wanted more for the Ryan Choi character. We had talked a little bit about the possibility of an Atom movie shot entirely in China. I thought that was a great idea. Remember, this was a while ago. When we were conceiving of this, it was literally the end of 2015. I was like let's make a super hero movie set in China with a Chinese star. And Kai Zheng is really charming and I had a great experience shooting him, so it seemed like a no brainer. But I don't know why all these things, these concepts… just think about how far down the road we'd be with all this stuff by now, you know?

WB had all this, and shot themselves on the foot.

I also liked his answer regarding the black suit :

Snyder: It comes from Death of Superman of course. But I'm also into this Robert Bly book The Red, White, and Black. The white of naivety, the red of anger, and the black of humanity. I just felt like the black suit is really symbolic of that as well. But also, frankly, I flew him straight up to the sun to charge him up. I like the black suit as a practical thing of there needing to be a way for Superman to charge up quickly and be stronger than he was. So it works in a theoretical and symbolic way.

And about this fan theory, its interesting he denied it. I read some people saying Snyder would just agree with whatever fans came up with retroactively, so its funny :

ESQ: There’s been some chatter about whether the single mom who appears in Cyborg’s vision, Linda Reed, is in reference to the obscure Golden Age character? Is it?

Snyder: You know, frankly, no, it was not. That one is not, but it's cool. I'd do that sort of thing.

Didn't Snyder try to get Fishburne back during the original shoot? I feel like this is something Snyder may actually have intended to show but scrapped when he couldn't get Fishburne back.

Imo, WB should take whatever good will they may be able to get back and do a softboot of Justice League for the big screen w/someone new. Even Marvel knew when to move on from JW for Avengers.
They could do all that without trying to stop Zack from having his own universe on HBO

If WB was actually serious about a multiverse this is what they would do

Truth be told, had it not for Snyder, WB would have fumbled to get characters love and recognition. Characters like Wonder Woman (remember Joss Whedon's script ?), Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash. Love him or Hate him, Zack Snyder has done few things for DC, which were not done before.

Now Snyder has successfully introduced Jack Kirby's Fourth World characters (Darkseid, New Gods, Apokolips), obviously that's just one part f it, the main task of making solo movies on all those characters still remains, which can be handled by other directors.

Left to their own devices, WB struggle to launch other new DC characters (Shazam being the exception). Just look at state of Green Lantern Corps movie, New Gods movie and how long Flash was in development hell

Wait, so the black suit actually served a functional purpose in the film? I thought that Snyder had Superman wear it for symbolic reasons.

If Netflix can give Grey Man 200 Mil. Budget, I cant see why HBOMax could give Justice League 2, one of the most popular brands, 250 Mil. Budget.

Netflix has 200 million subscribers worldwide. HBO Max have to work with other distributors outside of the states so less profit. i guess that is why? idk

To me, budget isn't a concern in the slightest. I've posted about this in the past, these days streaming shows of this scope are given massive budgets - Mandalorian was given a 200 Million budget, Wandavision and these Marvel streaming shows are given around 200-225 Million a season. It's about ensuring the investment is worthwhile for the platform.

Yes. It served the purpose to distinguish this as else-worlds take, which WB wanted.

HBO Max is getting launched in Latin-American countries this summer, and in Europe towards the end of this year. Asia, Australia will be next year. (I think)

They need content that will be popular across the world, content that is in demand.

I'm fairly confident that Snyder's JL just became in demand in a big way. I have a hard time imagining HBO isn't seriously considering their options for continuing Snyder's story. And if they use the kind of tech that made Mandalorian, this could be a lot more feasible than some people think. The biggest question marks imo are Affleck and Fisher.

I’m sure Affleck is game as long as Snyder is involved. Hell, Snyder is the reason Affleck even signed on in the first place.

With all the praise and support Fisher has been getting lately, it would be totally dumb of WB to not try to make peace with Fisher and both move forward for each other’s benefit. It’s still not too late to include Fisher in the upcoming Flash film, even if it is a small role

These next few weeks/months are gonna be interesting. AT&T/WB/HBO will likely make some sort of announcement about the future of Snyder and the DCEU as a whole

I find it interesting how Snyder made sure that in his 5 film arc, all the characters will go on this journey, and every one of the characters will get their own time to shine.

Man of Steel is Superman's movie. Batman v Superman is the movie where Batman shines. Justice League is mostly about Cyborg and Flash. Flash and Cyborg being the main characters would pay off when those 2 are among Batman's rag tag team in the post apocalyptic future. Justice League 2 was supposed to be about Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Wonder Woman goes to Themyscera and becomes the Queen and Arthur becomes the King of Atlantis. . Batman would go from the angry TDKR version, to one who sacrifices himself to save the world, and Batgirl takes up the mantle. Cyborg becomes the modern day digital god. Flash becomes the master of time and space and can be at two places at once. Superman goes from tyrant dictator to leader of Justice League and the army of man, with the final film bookending the series with a focus on Superman. And we get to see other DC characters like the Atom, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Deathstroke, Joker, Riddler, Luthor, all this major players. And even get to see the iconic Batman/Joker confrontation over the death of Robin.

Its a beautiful Justice League story and arc.

Supergirl turning evil instead of Superman would put Zack into a huge hole PR wise right away lol. Look at the crap he got for the powerful “We have no fear” Amazons

What happened with the "We have no fear" line?

Nothing, I've being seen a lot of praise from it. Its already becoming iconic, and people seem to love it.

Its still sinking in for me, that we just saw a great JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. Just as good if not better than AVENGERS. Its a great world to live in.
