Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League (The Snyder Cut Edition)

I’ll say this, you don’t see talent making strong statements like that over “creative differences” especially 3 years after the fact

I don’t know what, but Whedon must’ve said or done some messed up stuff to illicit such a response from Ray Fisher.

This entire saga just keeps getting crazier as more layers are peeled back. I hope someone writes a book about all this.

Someone is writing a book about it. Sean o Connell from Cinemablend is releasing a book about it next year with supposedly very candid interviews from Zack himself.

I still don’t think it was immoral for Whedon to take the job. I find that statement ridiculous to be quite honest. He’s a director who was asked to do a job, he wasn’t the first to finish a film when a director has been removed/left a project amen he won’t be the last. I think Snyder fans only take it so personally because it’s Zack Snyder.

I think it's the factors involved. Taking over someone's project when that person is fired, sure. Taking over when the original director had a family tragedy, was deep into making the film, changing the movie to a high degree, and still leaving that original director's name on the film despite it not being his vision, I get why people have an issue with it. And this is a veteran guy, not someone who just wanted a chance and is just trying to make a living. I think he saw this as his way of getting to make Batgirl. The criticism is fair, imo.

Man, if Whedon does indeed talk, i have a feeling Ray gonna come out with some receipts right back. Aint no way he letting Whedon shade Zack.

Ah, so he's clearly lying then or not allowed to voice out frustrations he couldn't before because of PR. Of course. :o
He's allowed to do whatever he wants.

If people believe him, without any context, fine. Others can say that he's just petty because we don't have a clear idea of what actually happened.

Also, I vaguely remember a crew worker who posted a JL sweater during the wrap up party, she mentioned everyone was there except Whedon.

True, but two extremes don't exactly make a right. Most of the time truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Just because I'm inclined to believe him doesn't exactly mean I'm going to defend him if he turns out to be wrong, yet you seem oddly 100% convinced that by him voicing out something that possibly might have been a negative experience for him, he's being "petty" and shouldn't be taken seriously. Really comes across as incredibly dismissive and uncaring to me.

There is no context behind Ray's claim because he brought it up recently. Of course people are going to speculate about it and try to make their own conclusions whether right or wrong. We'll see what happens in the coming week.

If Joss pushed for Snyder’s firing or was an a*****e on set (I have no idea) then yeah, sure, out the guy. But posting what he did just invited everyone who didn’t like JL to take it out on Joss. I hope it doesn't hurt Ray in the long run, he's gonna have to work with other directors to have a career beyond Cyborg and this may appear unprofessional without context. Support Snyder and leave it at that, or go all the way and call out the studio as well.

I have a hard time believing Joss acted racist to Ray on that set. At least in font of anyone else. Good way to never wrk again. Anything is possible. People are dumb animals sometimes...but he would have faced all out rebellion with that cast and crew IMO.

More likely they just didn't agree creatively and Ray was forced by contract to comply as were the others.
Maybe the covos got heated. Maybe they don't like each other. Not racist, just dislike and disrespect.

I was reading the DC Cinematic reddit trend...it sounded like the on-set environment was really bad.

In addition to Ray's tweet, these allegedly happened:
--Affleck got into Whedon's face on set.
--Gal Gadot got yelled at and threatened by Whedon.

In other word Whedon was a dicator on set.

There are varying degrees to racism. I obviously have no clue what was said, but to rule it out based on the fact that no said anything is looking at the way racism occurs in professional settings all wrong.

I have worked for multiple companies where managers have made racist remarks and no one said anything. Not necessarily because they didn't care, but because they have been conditioned to ignore or accept more implicit forms of hate speech.

Just because something is commonplace doesn't mean it's ethical.
I'm not saying Whedon should be locked up for being WBs hatchet man, just that it's an ugly thing to do. It's like deleting someone's pokemon save just before they fight the elite four.

so much shade after all this time and we still don't know most of the context.

hopefully it can finally end after the directors cut is out in the world.
its very clear for me
Whedon & mostly geoff Johns decided to cut his whole Arc, for a actor who put all his heart on a Set with shooting emotional sequences, its a huge Blow to be treated this way.

to be fair Whedon need to speak up too, dude stay hiding like a coward on social media, liking tweet about steppenwolf horrendous script.

And again, it has to make you wonder if thats true what caused Joss to lose it. People loved working with Joss Whedon from Buffy to Angel to Firefly to The Avengers, I always got the vibe that he was one of thise cool geeky directors (like Zack Snyder) that cultivated a fun positive set on his projects. This leads me to believe once Whedon realized what a cluster of a situation he got himself into he just wanted to get through it and his negativity spread to his behavior ons set.

Or maybe he snapped because Affleck, Momoa, Fisher kept going up to him with suggestions, alternatives to keep it more in tune with what Snyder did?

I remember Whedon's ex-wife accusation...had to look for it:

“When I was running ‘Buffy,’ I was surrounded by beautiful, needy, aggressive young women. It felt like I had a disease, like something from a Greek myth. Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet and I can’t touch it,” Cole wrote, saying she was quoting correspondence from her husband.

Nah, it read like bs to me. Whedon threatening Gal with taking WW film away from her is bad fan fic. Still, the baldman cashed out his check and probably added another pool.

All we basically know is that it was a **** situation for everyone involved and no one came out looking or feeling proud.

It sucks, but unless there's more vicious stuff Whedon did behind the scenes we don't know about.... I don't know why you'd tweet that 3 years after the fact. Either they're just being petty or there's a lot more tea to spill.

These are pure allegations. No way that they're true and likely unprovable. lol

Sorry for your bad experiences. Good people need to stand together more. Fear keeps them from speaking up.

We don't know much absolutely. Everyone experiences things in their own way and forms opinions based on their own personal experience.
IMO, there is a difference between true racism and personal prejudice or bias. There are lots more reasons to dislike people other than color. ; ) Character, culture, attitude etc.
We may never know the true details but it is clear that the original cast and crew are extremely loyal to Zack.. Joss was the visible hatchet man on set. He wrote the new material and creatively, tho constrained by WB, changed Zack's vision. If he was also an as* hole on set because maybe there was a bad atmosphere created by the changes, he had to deal with it.

I am sure things can get very testie on set when so many big name celebs and industry leaders disagree.
