i personally think this character could make for a good film, similer along the theme of constantine, a dark magic type film. the only problem like most fo DC female characters casting would be a real pain in the ass.

whats everyone think on the film or casting

Supposedly WB was making a tv series for a younger Zatanna in the vein of Charmed, obviously. Depends on the route they took.

The only saving grace for a show like that would be if Constantine were a supporting character from time to time. But then, that might just ruin Constantine for me. :(

Hmmm... could be interesting... could be a Charmed clone...

I'd rather see a uber-lite Disney Channel Zatanna than a Charmed clone, honestly.

That said, with Zatanna personality so... undefined, they can go almost any direction with the character. Almost any caucasian dark haired actress from 16-30 is fair game. Perhaps a daddy's girl who loses her daddy could be a good emotional pull for the film... who does Zatanna fight usually? Felix Faust? Misuse of power... or having too much power could be a good theme... but I am actually stumped on a villain... something tells me it would be relatively origional.

I'd watch it though...

Zatanna's personality isn't really undefined. She's an overly extravigant, mildly self centered, generally good natured person who, behind most of her confidence and skill, tends to wonder about the direction her life is going it.

She's Flash, only not as cocky.

taylor hayes=zatanna why not i like the porn star look

Can she act? Because, you know, that's kind of important.

ho! sorry is not for movie is for fantasy

A television show of Zatanna is probably more likely than a actual movie, but I'm not quite sure if it would ultimately prove successful. Or just be another failed DC/WB venture (Birds of Prey).

They could just pair Zatanna with some B-list or C-list superheroes for a movie witha bigger budget

Zatanna
(click to go to see toon)

Zatana had a webtoon that was part of the WB's Cartoon Monsoon contest. This version of Zatanna was a Sabrina the Teenage Witch/Buffy the Vampire Slayer type caracter that was designed to appeal to a younger (teenage audience). The two webisodes that they made weren't too bad and (with a little more work) it could have made it as a animated skein on Cartoon Network. Anyway, if you want to see the two webisodes you can click on the image above. I myself personally don't see Zatanna making it as a major motion picture anytime soon.

The only thing that cartoon was missing was the tux with fishnets. Hell, I'd even forgoe the fishnets for censorship purposes (even though fishnets are fun for the whole family), but the tux is just Zee's look.

Zatanna Zatara

She has worn different costumes in the past. Anyway, at least she still had the tophat and spoke her spells backwards in the webtoon so you knew who she was.

I think it'd be one hell of a tough sell, & WB would f**k it up.

I think making Zatanna a teen magician was Denise DiNovi's idea (Yes, the one who slaughtered Catwoman. WHEN are they going to fire her?). As for the costume, I love her "superheroic" look (on the poster behind her) since it's the one she was wearing when I discovered the character, but the "magician" look matches her character better. Let's just hope they never bring her back to the time she was wearing a ridiculous blue costume and a ponytail!

Actually, it was Paul Dini's ("Batman", "Batman Beyond", "Tiny Toons", "Duck Dodgers" -- select "Meet the Creators" at the bottom of the linked page) idea. I don't know how you got that mixed up with Denise DiNovi. By the way, she (DiNovi) was the one responsible for producing "Batman Returns" (you know, the one with the so called great performance by Michelle Pfeiffer) as well as other memorable films like "Edward Sissorhands", "Little Women", (1994), "James and the Giant Peach", "The Nightmare Before Christmas", and "Ed Wood" (which won two Oscars). Oh yeah, and the list goes on. That's probably why she hasn't been out of work. Not only does the woman associate herself with family friendly films, but she also has a knack for producing films that are touching and sometimes dark and suspensfull. Next time check your facts before you post.
