Which other female hero's from DC could you guys see handling themselves in their own film, if any at all?

Part of the DC Entertainment announcement was that there were "untapped possibilities from its deep library of iconic and lesser-known characters" in which the company would look in to and how their efforts would be to "realize the full potential" of said characters.

So with that door now open, and I know alot of us are pulling for a WW flick, could their be any other heroines that have their turn on the silver screen? Black Canary? Vixen? Katanna? Zatanna?

Discuss.

I'd say Catwoman, but Warner Bros. already blew her chance with that Halle Berry catastrophe.

I like Power Girl as part of an ensemble, maybe have her in the JLA movie.

We know Dini who is high up at DC loves Zatanna, and there was talk of a tv show awhile back so she'd be a prime candidate for sure.

I started a thread about a Katana movie which could a pretty positive response, so I'd add her as well. Other female heroes I can see starring in their own films would be The Huntress her story is just very cool, and how do you not love a hot chick taking on the mob in ruthless fashion? Or a properly adapted Birds of Prey,I'll get flamed for this but Hawkgirl based on the JLU version could make a good movie IMO with a loose adaptation of Starcrossed. Catwoman, sort of like Cook's Selina's Big Score which would make an epic movie. And I'll prepare for another flaming but...Spoiler who is now [blackout]the new Batgirl[/blackout], and last but not least Supergirl

So, to make it easy for those who don't want to read a paragraph I will list in no particular order

Supergirl
Hawkgirl
The Huntress
Birds of Prey
Spoiler
Zatanna
Katana
Catwoman

it will be great if some solo female heroines do get the chance of a film. Though its probably going to be awhile to we see any out of wb from dc slate. It probably would be better if they give some of them a tv treatment. Since alot of studios are anti female lead action films and all that. Though woman lead tv is doing good business.

You guys are crazy if you think they would do Power Girl before doing Supergirl again. In my land of dreams I would want Supergirl and the Legion of Super-heroes. Donna Troy in Teen Titans (although I'm not a starfire fan she'll end up there with Raven). They have Renee to be Vic's sidekick in a Question movie. Black Canary with Green Arrow or Birds of Prey. I'd want a proper Babs as Batgirl movie but I don't see that as a possibility.

They, and others, could all work. I really think few of them could carry a movie though, and that they'd all work best in the capacity they've always worked in. Black Canary as a supporting character in GREEN ARROW, or a part of the JLA/JSA. Vixen might work as a supporting character in JLA, I've always found her kind of generic. Katanna in THE OUTSIDERS or a cameo in JLA.

Zatanna might be able to carry her own film or be a supporting character in JLA. Zatanna and Xanadu would be great supporting characters in a THE SPECTRE movie, or, if we're lucky, THE SENTINELS OF MAGIC.

Power Girl, I don't know...she's fairly generic, and has almost become a parody of herself. Maybe a JLA cameo, or a role in AQUAMAN somewhere.

Supergirl could probably carry a solo film if the Superman franchise ever gets back on track. Hawkgirl could share a film with Hawkman or be part of a JLA/JSA movie.

The Huntress might be good in a BIRDS OF PREY movie, but I doubt we'll ever see that after, well, after BIRDS OF PREY.

I've long believed if there's a ROBIN movie that The Spoiler would work well on film. YOUNG JUSTICE is an untapped goldmine.

Catwoman could have worked as a solo film, but is best in a Batman movie.

So, which female character(s) do you think could unquestionably carry a film? besides Wonder Woman that is.

The Black Orchid Vertigo series adaptation possibly. I believe Rachel McAdams expressed interest but its been awhile since that.

Zatanna has potential.

A Question movie could be done with Renee Montoya, but I'd rather it not

In what sense?

Probably Zatanna.

How many of those characters have a strong enough mythos, rogues gallery and supporting cast needed to carry a movie?

I find most of these characters more interesting than, oh, any non superhero character out there. Any of them could concievably carry a movie, or even a franchise, but it's not realistic to expect some of them to actually do so.

Might as well give Supergirl Superman's villains since he isn't using them.

I have yet to see any evidence that Wonder Woman could hold a movie herself. Still not having one and all. Seems to be permanently in development.

I suppose the DC Animated Wonder Woman movie comes close, though even there she seemed to co-star with Steve Trevor.

In general DC seriously lacks "big-name" female superheroes.

Catwoman had potential, but after Halle Berry's train wreck, they're probably still hesitant just to use the character in a regular Batman movie.

TBH I think Zatanna is one of the few to have a good shot at a solo film or even a tv series. Focusing on how her father was one of the greatest magicians of all time and how she grew up to eventually learn his ways. You could even have a cameo of a young Bruce Wayne learning to be an escape artist. :p

But I think the main problem for most female heroine's is the main villain(s). Someone the audience is actually going to care about.

Power Girl..yum.

I believe that both Lobo, Octoberist, and Timstiff hit the nail right on the head, but I think that the direction for these properties should be towards television ala night time soap operas and cartoons. Zatanna could easily be a cartoon series or a night time TV series. The character has an appeal not unlike Buffy the Vampire slayer and could have the potential to have a 5 year run on a syndicated network (my opinion). I thought that Birds of Prey was a good series, but was aired against some more popular shows. Had it been on in syndication, it would probably had enjoyed a longer existence. I will not endorse having any of these properties as a major motion picture just due in part to the fact that this type of genre doesn't have a success rate in that marketplace.

probably SuperGirl, would be the first behind WW for a film

... but maybe Vixen could work in a darker tone, maybe Batman meets Underworld...

I could possibly see Zatanna working more like Smallville meets Buffy on TV... but IDK if she could carry a film

Does Death count? I would much rather see her in a Sandman movie first, but I think they could definitely adapt her into a film. In fact, there has been talk of it for YEARS, but nothing has ever happened.

Both are fan artwork found around the net. In my searching I read that DC is trying to clean up SG's image a little bit, make her a tad less jailbait-y. Who knows, maybe they are grooming the character for something on the big screen down the line.

urghh Benes, he's just one step up from Greg Land in that his porno tracing isn't obvious
