Deadpool 2 Zazie Beets officially cast as Domino in Deadpool 2

Thank fully! Because studios are always smarter... Oh wait. Didn't the internet help Deadpool to get the greenlight from Fox. Oh yeah. The "internet".

The internet didn't make ANY creative decisions on the movie. That was all on the filmmakers. They didn't break the story, or write the script, they didn't cast anyone, nor did they design any of the characters. The people didn't even chose what the crew would eat for lunch during filming. They just went "me likey, wanna see" and the studio took notice, because they saw that there was an audience for a Deadpool movie.

And if you really are so good at making such decisions and make a movie work I don't understand why you're wasting your time on the Internet, and aren't instead rising on top of Hollywood to make the ultimate comic book movies.

Such a huge waste of talent, and you could make TONS of bucks! It's a win-win situation for everyone. I'll be the first one to support your journey as a filmmaker, you talented, creative Internet-dude!

Really? When it comes to fan casting, I rarely see the wrestlers and sy fy actors as the top suggestions. If it was up to me, I would have cast a more well known actress to play as Domino.

I'm just curious who exactly you would've liked to see as Domino?

Hilarious! I've made similar comments to people who get on the internet and act like they could do a better job. They always have some sad excuse. Anyways, it's not surprising psylockcolossus doesn't like anything. At least I know that they spread the "I don't like this or that or that" comments in forums other than x-men.

This role might have been a great opportunity to cast an albino woman. There are such people in real life, lol... Then there wouldn't be such oversensitivity over applying a dot around the eye.

As soon as they cast a black woman, then any 'tampering' with skin colour becomes such an issue. She might be great in the film but there's no real resemblance to the source material and it's going to be odd seeing her as Domino. They got away with it in the case of the z-list Negasonic.

It sorta feels like the actress came first, that they just wanted Zazie. This isn't uncommon of course. Scarlett Johansson said that when Marvel approached her, they mentioned all sorts of characters (Silver Sable, Scarlet Witch, etc) before settling on putting her in the Black Widow role.

I don't see anyone oversensitive about tampering with her skin by giving her vitiligo. Far far far more people are oversensitive about her being black in the first place.

They still do. Doesn't mean they're wrong.

And he's a much more well known character whom people are more sensitive about. At the end of the day, his casting didnt work against him and most people dont care. I doubt the vocal minority will matter here in terms of her acceptance

If you look in the set pics of her on the bike, she has her sword gun thing from the concept art. Looks pretty dope.

I haven't seen anyone complaining about that, but I haven't been paying attention to that sort of nonsense either. I honestly think it's a creative way to handle Domino's condition. To give a mutant who is known for a physical attribute an actual mutation as the explanation for it is incredibly smart. I just wish she appeared more comic accurate because, like I said, if I didn't KNOW she was playing Domino, I would never have guessed that's who I was looking at. I don't remember all the Wolverine complaints. Other than his height, what was all that off? He never got his mask, but he had a version of the hair, he had the claws, and the old crusty leather jacket. What more could they have done really?

Wolverine also got complaints bc they cast an Australian to play him which drew comparisons to the Pryde of the X-men pilot

People who get offended because a black actress has chalk white make up on to portray a character who's known for having a genetic mutation which specifically causes said skincolor, are absolutely insane.

How often do you see women with Zazie's skin colour in this genre? It would be ****ing stupid to make her skin white with makeup.

Why? Seriously, why?
Because we live in a world where black skin and curly hair is threatening to people. Saying she needs to be made white in order to play the part sends the worst message and is tone-deaf to how there are less opportunities for people with darker skin.
You must hate Gamora then.
It would be nice if Saldana could get a role in a genre movie where she doesn't have to be green or blue.

It might scare some people, yes. But to assume it scares people in general is just wrong and way too short sighted.

You would have a point if Zazie was just playing a random human character but she's not. She's specifically playing a character known for her weird look. The skincolor of the actress is not relevant because Domino doesn't have a typical human skincolor anyway. True diversity starts with the conception of a minority character. Not with casting an actor of a different etnicity forcing the character to fit the actor. Unless of course you have an exceptionally gifted actor for role but Zazie is not (yet) in that category.

Nonsense. Making the actress look like the character she is playing is saying nothing.
