I like how many fans either say that it is too much like OOT or not enough. I suppose Nintendo realized there is no pleasing some people hence radical departures (like WW and whatever comes next).
I'm in the seventh dungeon (the Sky City) right now and I've found the game for the most part flawless and awe-inspiring too though.
I've never played a Zelda game before, *dodges brick.* I know, I know, I suck. I tried ALttP for my GBA SP and I just couldn't get into it. I played through some of Oracina, but never beat it. I never even played MM or WW... So yeah, I really suck.
But after hearing the reviews for this game and people in my dorm rave about it, I really wanted to play it.. BADLY. So when I got my Wii, I was ecstatic to get this game along with it.. Now I hadn't really gotten a chance to play the game until last Tuesday, but since then I've played it for 34 hours and I've loved every minute of it.. It's such an amazing game. I now can't WAIT to play all of the other Zelda games.. I don't know why I didn't get hooked sooner, maybe I was too young to get it.. Maybe I was too addicted to FPS's, I don't know.. But the fact is that this is quickly becoming my favorite game of all time. I can sit down and play for hours while it would only feel like minutes. That is the mark of a truly great game.
Anyhow, I just beat the Sand Temple.
The cutscene with Ganondorf was badass.. It just shows how cool that guy really is.
I can't wait to keep playing this game, but alas, I also need to sleep. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT game, though.

Wind Waker is all right. But I'll go with the safe answer. Try Ocarina of Time, there are VERY few people out there who do not speak highly of that game. Even if it isn't everyone's favorite (though it mostly is) it is the classical Zelda game that kind of defines the series.

I liked WW. But it is not a 10.0 game. It is more of a 9.4 or 9.5. Ocarina of Time was perfect for its time and still is. There is still so much fun to be had in completing the quest in OOT. WW while a pretty game is very childish. Just not in graphics, but difficulty. The temples save for one you can walk through blindfolded and outside of Ganon the boss fights are a joke. You got to replay them all at the end because they were about as difficult as the puzzles.
Add in the world is huge but boring as the space in between is repetative to see and while it is a huge world there just is not that much to do and due to the lack of fun in traveling, exploring becomes less of an option for many gamers. Add in the really annoying collect the 8 shards of the Master Sword AFTER you spend 3200 rupees on Tingle to decipher lousy maps for you, the game just loses its appeal for replay value.
OOT had a better story, better artistic style and outside of a little bit simplistic characterization and dialogue (remember this was the first 3D Zelda though) just about trumps WW in every category. In exploration, side quests, story, scope, characters in general, level design, bosses, length and general fun having (the last being objective).
Anyway, I finally finished Twilight Princess today. That is an amazing game. Wow. I wished I had taken my time more (60 hours in a month) but I was always captivated. It was fun to explore and the storyline was just....well it was a great game.
SPOILERS:
I thought the ending was a little stilted though. Gannondorf just shows up to die, really. And the ending seems a little abrupt and lacks the kind of mjaesty of victory of say OOT, MM or even Wind Waker. But that is okay I suppose, it is meant to be a darker game
.
END SPOILERS
Overall i loved it and while it is probably the best made Zelda game of all time it is still second to OOT for me. But that's okay. I thoroughly enjoyed Nintendo's opus in trying to make "the Zelda game" for all Nintendo and Zelda fans. I look forward to them now moving on and growing with the franchise in new directions.
like they were tired of making the game and just threw it together...should have been a couple more temples with explanations of ganon...i wouldnt mind 11-12 temples instead of 9. I also wish there could have been more of Link in the twilight realm, more twilight temples, sidequest, etc
I didn't mind the ending. To me the Ending started after you met Ganondorf in Hyrule Castle.
I think a temple in the Twilight Realm where you have to be a Wolf for the entire time would have been neat. Or if you had to play a Twilight version of the Forest Temple before actually playing the real one.
Everybody who played this game should download this link above. It's a heavy 370mb+ zip file, but it contains all the audio tracks from Twilight Princess.
Now, keep in mind that this is a fan-put-together project. Some of the tracks still have sfx since they were ripped from the game, but most of them are clean... in fact, I think I've only encountered one or two tracks that have actual in game sfx in them.
Regardless, this is awesome! Download, listen, and enjoy.
PS - If you haven't finished the game yet, some of the track names may contain spoilers... so watch out.
Interesting fan video submitted to gonintendo.... shows me why I believe that if they ever made a Zelda movie, they shouldn't go live action but they should contact the good people at Pixar to do the business.
Character model is a little....ugh.... but the actual animation and movements is what makes this thing work. Really stunning.
s'why I said NO live action... I've always thought it'd be a bad idea (even though visually I'm sure they could do some impressive landscapes and buildings/temples...) but that pales in comparison to what a team like Pixar could do.

Definitely. I could see it done in a slightly Beast Wars coloring and such. Hyrule is just too...unique to just have the same forgettable landscapes and such.

i know when I get my wii and after I finish twilight princess, i'll be searching all over for those tracks, like I did with Wind Waker(best music) and OOT, so I'll go ahead and download then now, but not listen.
I just finished listening through the whole thing, and it's missing a couple of key pieces of music... one especially is the music you hear when you learn a new skill (the training grounds music).
Other than that, it's quite complete... and of course, it's not perfect... but quite enjoyable.
