Zombies!

Despite being a comedy, Shaun of the Dead is a serious contender for that title. 28 Days Later, and Zombi 2 As well. Although in the case of Zombi 2 it wouldn't technically be the best in the traditional sense, but it's zombie effects and atmosphere are second to none.

I also loved Planet Terror, but I'd have to see that again before I could make such a bold statement calling it the "best."
Planet Terror was awesome!!!

What do you beleive to be the best zombie film NOT directed by George A Romero?

i've always had a soft spot for dan o'bannon's original "return of the living dead". sure, it's kind of corny, but the gore, humor and performances are all great and the story wasn't bad either. plus, linnea quigley shows off her goods by running around naked for most of the movie.

aside from that, i'd list "zombi 2", "shaun of the dead" and both of the "28...later" films (yeah, not technically zombie flicks, but close enough) in my favorite non-romero list.

the original "dawn of the dead" is my all-time favorite zombie movie. period. i'd even list it in my top 3 favorite movies of all-time. i worship george romero.

am I the only one who would be scared *****less if a zombie invasion really happened.

It's never been stated, in fact I remember in Day of the Dead near the beginning there were zombies moping around, some were even sitting on the sidewalks staring into space. And once they heard sounds coming from "food" they got up. Not only that, it's been stated in the same film they don't eat for nourishment, it's entirely instinct. As some of them had their entire digestive systems removed, and they continued to "live" and still desired to feed.

Most of them still have a stomach, what happens when they've eaten so much flesh that their stomach bursts. It's happened before to competitive eaters in real life. Or do they simply vomit it back up and go look for more people to eat?

Then their stomach bursts and they keep eating.

Zombie or not, all that "food" has to go somewhere.
In Day of the Dead, the zombie that "Dr Frankenstein" was experimenting on, well his stomch and insides fell out of him and he stil wanted to eat.

This man knows what he's talking about. I love this movie!!!

So the food fell out on the floor instead, so we're assume that all the zombies that are well feed will do the same?

nope. their digestive track doesn't function. food probably just stores up until their stomachs burst.

Then they'll keep eating until all of their digestive track falls out...then whatever they eat from that point on falls down to the ground...lovely...

Next question: will zombies eventually decomp until they're immobilized. Notice you never see mummies in zombie films...

yep.

that's the way i understand it. their flesh continues to rot, since it's not getting any nourishment. eventually they'll become immobilized and then finally just rot completely away.
