yep.

that's the way i understand it. their flesh continues to rot, since it's not getting any nourishment. eventually they'll become immobilized and then finally just rot completely away.

So all humans have got to do is avoid going extinct long enough and we'll win. :cwink:

yeah, but that's pretty tough when you're outnumbered 1000-1. you'd have to find an ideal location that would provide everything you need to survive while keeping the zombies out and have a surefire escape route. it could take years for them to die out enough for us to be able to fight back and regain society.

I don't care what happened in Day of the Dead, a missile silo would be ideal. It was the actions of the survivors that screwed that deal up, not the shelter.

totally. it was compromised by idiots. otherwise, something like that would be a great place to hide out, what with the level of security and the facilities it offered. the only bad part about it was the lack of easily accessible escape routes. they had to run through that cave system where those zombies were hiding out and make it to that one ladder to the surface. i still think the mall in the first dawn of the dead was a bit more suitable, since there were so many supplies and they could still access the roof and fly their chopper out of there.

survivor action is exactly what makes the prospect of a Zombie outbreak so scary I'm uncomfortable with the Ghouls, and scared sh1tle$$ of other people in this situation

Anyone can hide in a house and live, it's just if you're dumb enough to go outside of your hiding spot to take a peek.

Judging that they had no way to replace biological matter, and had no way of maintaining it?

Two years on the outside.

Since they're in the sun most of the time? Far less.

sounds about right. it would happen in waves, depending on when they turned.

also depends on the reanimate agent different causes have different shelf lives...

We're also assuming that it's a singular direct infection thing.

Unless this were classic Dead stuff. Then we KNOW what causes it, and waiting for the time specified would be fine, since most of it would happen fairly soon. Then the dangerous numbers would most likely fall around two years at the most still, as probably most of the "survivors" would've turned inside their shelters.

best to stay in small groups nonetheless and perform frequent strip checks on each other for bite/scratches

We don't know what causes it in the classic Dead movies.

they thought strange radiation...

All we know is they die, and come back. Period.

When they die, they return as the living dead.

If such is the case, then we can safely assume that ANYBODY who dies, will be reborn as one. So the focus on that would prove more useful than trying to figure out what happens in waves, as we know it'll come from a singular mass wave.

That's what I meant.

damn straight, a good zombie film always has a strong emphasis on the break down of human relations in stressfull situations. (i don't mean like dating break ups).
People don't always make rational choices when scared.
If you can throw in a few selfish nuts with guns who are only concerned about their own survival, it gives the audience something to fear even more than the zombies, cause that person could be real.

That was a thought but never confirmed to be the cause

Not entirely true, the ones who come back all happen to get infected by a zombie. Except for Tommy and Judy in Night, but they exploded and the zombies ate them.

personally i think i would be fine with the whole zombie rampage thing..seen as how it would most likely be at the hand of one of my friends that this outbreak happens...lol...for some reason science and reanimation agents are the things in life me and most of my friends are determined to figure out...i think it probably has something to do with the fact that we know its eventually gonna happen anyways i just wanna play god and make it happen faster...we all know some dumbass will eventually turn the living dead into a reality..i just want the be that dumbass..lol

That was the cool thing about Romero's zombie epidemic, he never specified what it was. There were rumors it was radiation, a viral or bacterial infection, even, and some people thought it was judgement day. The only thing certain is, that the recently deceased (and the brain is still intact) will return as a zombie.

Does anyone else remember a revised version of the original Night of the Living Dead where there was a crazy priest? He never interacted with the house people though

Was that the recent re-make? I never seen that, only the original and the Tom Savini's re-make.
