I bought The Zombie Survival guide this weekend but the place didn't have World War Z. Lame.

IMO shaun of the dead is the best zombie film to date. You cant rule it out of that position because of the comedy. thats like saying AWIL isnt the best werewolf film to date.

 deffo, it's up there with all the great zombie flicks. It was created as an homage, but it's great in itself. Simon Pegg = comedy genius

Just watched the original Night of the Living Dead recently, and yes, the zombies are a result of a space radiated satellite that crashed back onto the Earth. Para-Medic even mentions it on Metal Gear Portable Ops

the 30th anniversary edition or original cut??

All right guys, it's about damn time this thread be bumped. Besides, I've got some new food for thought in case the world suffers what Max Brook calls a level three outbreak. :ninja:

I've concluded that the best gas powered vehicle for carrier either survivors or anti-zombie sweeper groups is a armored personnel carrier. A simple SWAT version would suffice since a gun turret isn't going to do all that much damage to a horde of ghouls. It would be able to plow though most of the abandoned cars on the roads without damage and even if you run out of gas it's going to be a damn fine fortress for your team. Not to mention the fact that you could run through an entire city worth of "Zak".

As for weapons you've a choice for either low tech or high tech, a simple an reliable M1 Garand would be about as good as you can get. Obviously worked well enough for the American GI's that it was used all the way though the Korean War. You couldn't do wrong with this weapon, especially if you manage to find one equipped with a bayonet.

Then there's the M4 Carbine, awesome weapon but it's still an assault rifle and the less self-controlled in your team might be tempted to click the select fire to full auto and spray wildly into the group. On the plus side there's a hell of a lot of accessories that you can modify it with. A telescoping stock for close quarters would be a god send, and a grenade launcher would be good for taking care of non-ghoul "problems".

I forgot to add that Colt doesn't sell the M4 to civilians, it's not impossible to get your hands one one, just hard.

I would get into a tank or SWAT vehicle like you said, go to our local gun shops and police station, then head to the airport. The airport if very secure, high off of the ground, minimum entrances...and has everything you would need to survive for a while. Plus the entire landing and take off area is fence secured with lookout towers. You could easily travel from airport to airport without zombie interferance.

Fences WILL NOT stop zombies.

Problem, airports will have either been secured by the government or destroyed to prevent the outbreak from spreading. I've thought the same about gun stores but I realized that everyone else will think the exact same thing, by the time you get there it will have been stripped bear. You need your own gear. :cwink:

The two best locations would be offshore oil rigs, hundreds of feet above the ocean and with enough food to keep hundreds of crew members alive for months. Not to mention you can fish for your food.

Prisons are already designed for control, zombies aren't all that different from enraged inmates (just less intelligent). Not to mention the grounds could be used to harvest crops for an extended stay.

I have thought of a prison but I wouldn't want to be in there with all those murderers. I might however let them go and allow them to choose what they want to do or just send them out past the gate.

You would also need bombs, I would suggest ravaging a local supermarket for cleaning supplies to make some nice little explosions if military grade ones are out of the question. I might also fly a plane to a small island in the bahamas, kill of all the zombies and live peacefully on the island.

It depends on the prisoners, some are rational enough to be willing to help you. Some are going to have to be eliminated.

Prisons would be good, I still say a nice Sam's Club or Wal-mart Super-Center would be the best.

  1. Bombs don't do that much against zombies, unless you damage the brain you've just got a crippled ghoul who's dragging himself right at you.
  2. Do you have any experience with aircraft?
