🏈 NFL - Game On

I work in sports, which you'd think would mean I'd be more zen about it, but it just turns me into Carmy from the season 2 finale of The Bear.
On the contrary, if that's your job you absolutely have the right to be stressed about it. :funny:

I will admit that the football gets to me more than it should. I aint like that with the Guardians or Cavs. But I think it stems from the fact that in my lifetime, the Browns have been like... the worst franchise in the league and I feel like I have waited a long time for it to turn around and the fact that they haven't had a true great run in the nearly 4 decades I have been watching annoys me. But yeah, it's a 1st world problem
What are you talking about? The Browns won it is 2001 and 2013…no…wait.

Sorry. That was a low blow. ;)

I learned a long time ago to not stress about sports and have a more zen-like attitude (for the most part). Besides, I'm pretty satisfied. I saw them win twice. Wasn't born yet in '87 and was too young in '91 but those two Super Bowls against the Pats were fun as hell to watch.

I still remember watching the helmet catch with my friend who was a Giants fan. Incredible game.

I believe that's when the Giants spoiled the Patriots perfect record by beating them in the superbowl.

18-1 :hehe:

I usually root for the team with the fewest superbowl wins (unless both teams already have three wins).

So I'll be rooting for the Eagles.

Even though beating Andy Reid's playbook powered by advanced Artificial Intelligence (it seems) is damn near impossible.

I don’t root for underdogs as a rule of thumb. I actually like excellence.

To quote a wise contemporary philosopher:

I root for the underdog because watching David defeat Goliath is downright inspirational.

Plus it's nice for a different fanbase to get a taste of glory.

But I'm not sure if Babillygunn is being sarcastic or not. :hehe:

There was a fair bit of sarcasm to be sure.

But…I don’t usually root for underdogs because I honestly like to watch sports so that I can be amazed by greatness.

That’s why my teams that I’ve historically rooted for are:
Lakers
UK basketball
SEC football (except the Gators or Vols)
Yankees
Whoever Tom Brady or LeBron plays for.

This also may come as a shock, but if I am being honest, I have to admit that I am a bit of an @&$hole and I root against whoever my friends’ teams are. So since I had a friend who is a die hard Chiefs fan, I actively root against the Chiefs because for some reason I don’t want him to be happy after the Super Bowl. It’s the same reason why I root against University of Florida. I have a friend who is married to a former gator cheerleader and I want their household to be disappointed.

I really am a bad person.

As usual, the Bills kept it close vs the Chiefs in the Playoffs, however, the Chiefs executed more critical plays in the second half to prevail. When facing the Chiefs, the Bills for the Playoffs continue to become Charlie Brown, aka finding a soul-crushing way to disappoint greatly.

It was entirely unsurprising that the Eagles highly outplayed the Commanders because the Eagles rushing attack was an onslaught, also the Eagles defense played like the 1985 Bears.
To quote Darth Vader "All Too Easy" because the Commanders got outplayed from start to finish with no realistic chance of taking the lead.
The Eagles are a better team on paper, and their offense was like a Ferrari SuperFast that can move 280 MPH because the Commanders defense wasn't holding them to field goals in the first half, or second half.

They're gonna need him. LOL

Turnovers. DC was out of that game because of turnovers; plain and simple. Might it have gotten away from there later in the game anyway? Possibly, but if Washington doesn't make some really bad turnovers, they had a shot at winning this game.

They also had no answers for the Eagles running game nor their defensive line.

so they gave the bills the script they gave the ravens when they played buffalo?
alright then

Very true. My point was that this wasn't a game that wasn't winnable for DC. Towards the end, the game got away from them and might have anyway, but if the game was closer, they could have pulled it out. Things would have had to have fallen right for them, but much strnager things have happened. Given the turnovers, they didn't have a chance.

Last thing on Buffalo: If there's a single thing the summarizes these two teams, it's the stupid tush push they kept trying to run. Just the same thing over and over, but never working. Was the only one they picked up that dumbass leap over the pile?

Quite frankly they got lucky that moron didn't lose the ball on that one. His fumbling issue came up again big time this game. Didn't lose any, but he tried.

What blows my mind is the fact they tried it 3 times to the left. Even Romo acknowledged they always liked to run that tush push to the left. Why not try one to the right? The Chiefs practically put all their big guys to the right.

Also, James Cook was averaging 6.5 yds per carry. Why not try to use him in this situation? Just crappy play calling from the Bills coaching staff.

Agreed. The difference in offensive play calling was astounding in that game.
