This real life tragic story is oddly fascinating. I picture a Bogart film noir about this case. I mean, take a read on all the suspects. Knives Out to the core. The man directed 59 silent films!

A crowd gathered inside, and someone identifying himself as a doctor stepped forward, made a cursory examination of the body, and declared Taylor had died of a stomach hemorrhage. The doctor was never seen again; when doubts later arose, the body was rolled over by forensic investigators revealing that the 49-year-old film director had been shot at least once in the back with what appeared to have been a small-caliber pistol, which was not found at the scene.

Faith Cole MacLean, the wife of actor Douglas MacLean and neighbor of Taylor's, is widely believed to have seen Taylor's killer. The couple was startled by a loud noise at 8 pm. MacLean opened her front door and saw someone emerging from the front door of Taylor's home who she said was dressed "like my idea of a motion picture burglar". She recalled this person paused for a moment before turning and walking back through the door, as if having forgotten something, then re-emerged seconds later and flashed a smile at her before running off and disappearing between the buildings. MacLean thought that the loud noise she had heard was a car back-fire, not a gunshot. She also told police interviewers this person looked "funny" (like movie actors in white-faced makeup) and speculated that it may have been a woman disguised as a man due to the person's height and build.

I'm seeing these reactors watching Sleepy Hollow for Halloween and starting with "I have no clue what this is about." And even being surprised when the horseman has no head. Like....I'm sorry, what?? Is the legend of Sleepy Hollow just not something people know growing up anymore??? I've known it since I was like 6 years old. Everybody used to know that story. I remember the hype in school when the trailer came out. That's why it was one of Burton's biggest hits outside of Batman at the time.

I don’t remember the hype around the Tim Burton movie but my elementary school did show us the Disney cartoon movie and it did freak me out at the time.

After having seen Death Wish 3 I’m now convinced 1985 was the peak year of trash action cinema. We also had Commando, Invasion U.S.A, The Last Dragon, and Rambo 2 come out the same year.

Rewatched Back to the Future and I cannot state how much I adore that movie. Very few things bring me such joy.

Don't Worry Darling

Not as bad. Wilde did over complicate the original script tho. That Harry guy is a bad actor. Pugh did her best. Gemma Chan wasted. Chris Pine got that thing about himself that even in a subpar flick, he can make the most out of, but also wasted. Direction it self was fine, but just over all a pile of meh. The drama surrounding the flick is far more entertaining and interesting.

Stars at Noon

Claire Denis slow snail pace of a flick. Never been a fan of her flicks if I keep it honest. Margaret Qualley likes to get naked in flicks, she does so a lot here, so there's that. A boring sexy political thriller of sorts, just a big mess.

My all time favorite film.

That trilogy basically defined my childhood. Michael J. Fox was my childhood hero.

Not bait at all. There are various vids and articles out there pointing this out in the sequels too, especially when dealing with black folks. I don't believe the filmmaker is a racist tho, but the problem is there, if we keep it honest. I've also been able to see them flicks without these issues over shadowing my viewing experience. I do find it funny that certain folks just didn't catch these not so subtle jabs at us, whether intended or not.

I also totally understand that watching them films from that era with current glasses ain't fair, I get that. I like lots of flicks which are problematic in todays standards, but I also admit them issues is there.
