Film 📽️ THE CINEMA LOUNGE

General Film
That Dungeons and Dragons trailer was fun. Chris Pine was basically winking at the camera with a look that says. ''I did this for the money'', the entire time, but it was fun watching him. Eh.

I know nothing of D&D but all I could think of watching that was

It looks fine. Some of the visuals look good.

I do think a better move would've been making it a movie about friends playing D&D and then we see the campaign play out. Kinda like how South Park did that World of Warcraft ep.

I wonder how it'll do. I guess not well. I know D&D has its fans but idk if it's enough to make the film successful and, despite Stranger Things, D&D is not one of those crossover things like Star Wars.

Damn, it's over 20 years now, time for a rewatch. I don't even remember on which level on crappiness it was, which means I should have some treats at a rewatch. Is that Forest Whitaker? Forgot that he was in it. God bless his poor soul. (says the hypochrytic atheist)

It's kinda funny, this was rumoured as one of the worst films ever and of course my friend and I had to rent it and laughed our asses off with a few beers. Still today, I don't remember where we read or heard those rumours. By this time (2000) I've had internet for a few of years, but it was of course nothing like it turned out in the furthermore 00s.

I digress, and sorry for all above OT nostalgia rambling. Still, I need to rewatch Battlefield Earth. And of course I blame all this on Kane52630. :o

I never saw it until recently when Double Toasted did a bad movie review for it. I've always heard about it and always saw it on the worst of lists, but my god... it was an experience. It's like they tried to cram every scifi mumbo jumbo into one movie.

I forgot everything that was in this film, hence it's time to revisit. Someone might correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC the story was from a Ron L Hubbard novel, and because of that Travolta "had interests" in this being made. But Forest Whitaker? Why, Forest, why?

Rumors of the new Scorsese masterpiece teaser trailer being released in the coming days.

Quite a good listen. For some reason I thought the two of them had a falling out, so I’m glad they are still friends. They come off like they are still best friends.

They did. But kinda reunited during covid over making film lists to watch and after Quentin became a dad. They spoke about it on a different podcast, which was like 3 hrs long. Heh.

Decided to see BJ Novak's Vengeance tonight. I went in knowing literally nothing about the film. I had only seen a poster and the title intrigued me. What an absolutely lovely film, I was blown away.

Very few films have ever hit me on such a profound level as this one did. Absolutely in the running for a top 5 film for me this year.

This just opened near me, too. I saw the ad a while back and was curious. Hoping to check it out, but there's a ton out right now. I fell behind on theater visits with a few busy weeks. Gotta catch-up on Elvis, Nope, Crawdads and, most importantly - Marcel the Shell.

Same here. I've fallen behind lately. Hoping to see Marcel and Elvis next weekend.

Yeah I was thinking about watching Vengence because me just going to see SuperPets would be not worth it.
