10 Cloverfield Lane

That makes me happy that they are being forward with that. I'm so sick of obvious lying to try and save face.

Well, looks like JJ confirmed that this was INDEED not originally intended as a Cloverfield follow-up and that he just shoved connections to it in post and re-shoots, as rumored. I've got a very bad feeling about this.

It was known from the get go. They took the script that was there and rewrote a few parts to put the connections in. It's really not a big deal. Seems like a pretty sweet movie that's in the same universe as Cloverfield. I'll take it.

Denial about what? It looks interesting. Just because it wasn't originally connected to cloverfield doesn't mean that JJ had to drastically change the film to connect it to cloverfield or that he somehow damaged the film. But if you want to panic or be smug about it for no reason be my guest.

No, they did not rewrite the script. They filmed new scenes after the movie had been shelved and sat around the offices for a year with the "brilliant" idea to film some new scenes to connect it to the Cloverfield movie.

[...] which was filmed a couple of years ago and sat on a shelf at Bad Robot for the last year — presumably until someone was struck with the brilliant idea to reshoot some of it and establish a connection (drink!) to Cloverfield.

Okay, I should have said added instead of rewrote. I still don't see the big deal. Nowhere was it said that this is a sequel to the first movie. It looks like a good movie and if it's part of that Cloverfield universe then it makes it a little more interesting.

Initially they were marketing it as connected to Cloverfield. Now they realize despite their assumptions we're not stupid people and are admitting that it originally was filmed with no intention of being connected at all.

"Blood relative" should more appropriately be "blood transfusion."

How do you know? Have you even seen the film? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure there is a still a connection. Whether or not it's a legit connection is still to be seen. Maybe you should wait on jumping to conclusions until you actually see the film.

The film was test screened last year under the name Valencia. People have seen it. The script is online.

Also I hear Bear McCreary, of Battlestar Galactica and Walking Dead fame, is doing the music.

It must really suck working for bad robot. All of your work gets credited to and discussed around JJ Abrahms.

How do I know? I read the article that said it straight out. I don't have to wait and see how they re-edited it to make it vaguely connected to Cloverfield.

Yeah, I read it. I was talking about the parts they added in to connect it.

This debate is pointless then because most people knew this before an article was written about it. What's your point then? That's its just a cheap ploy for this movie to make money by attaching the word 'Cloverfield' on it?

Yeah I thought that was obvious. They let it sit on the shelf for a year before figuring out how to market it which involved throwing in some Cloverfield references to a movie that was written filmed and in can before they decided to tie it to another movie. Calling it a "blood relative" is ridiculous. I was mocking it because it is no more a relative than if I were to get a blood transfusion from someone while in the hospital who then became a "relative" of mine. Somehow. Maybe you could stretch it to a kidney transplant but that still does not constitute a relative.

I have a few friend who worked there, and they all said it's a great company to work for. As for 10 CL's Dan Trachkentberg (sp), it's happy to work for JJ as far as I know.

I mean from a business perspective think about how much this is going to raise the profile of his work.

I mean look at where Drew Goddard and Matt Reeves are now. They are big players now.

So even though this didn't originate as a Cloverfield thing, the association with Cloverfield and JJ Abrams could potentially jump-start his career.

Reeves will probably be able to get his pick of projects after the next Planet of the Apes movie.

Look at how well Goddard is doing now with The Martian.

Their careers are doing much better right now than Josh Trank.

And it's so wacky that so many people have read the script? Not saying that it's not true but really? It's almost like a few came out of the woodwork with that info.

I personally read the script for the Cellar back when they shelved it because I was curious to how well it was written.

I read it back last month. I even sent it to a few people on here. The script has been around for a long time. It's not unheard of for scripts to be put online.

Even 11/22/63 has Slusho. Abrams additions to things are meaningless.
