I would advise not judging so quickly, especially when the thing happened in a country like Russia. If you grow up in certain circumstances the most trivial things can become hooks that ancor you to life.

Pfffff, it was an ADDICTION. He became so DEPENDENT on it that it cost him his LIFE.
He couldn't FUNCTION in LIFE without it.
That's not "happiness".
It's clear why they'd take away his video games if he was so consumed by them that he killed himself rather than wait a while till it blew over, or, if need be, until he was an adult.

He couldn't bear the thought of going one day (the day he killed himself) without games, so he childishly threw away the very ABILITY to ever play again.

The parents were trying to RESCUE him from this destructive obsession.
