Teen calls 911 after parents take away Xbox
By Ashok Selvam | Daily Herald Staff

A Buffalo Grove teen was having fun, fun, fun until his parents took his video game system away.

So the unhappy 15-year-old dialed 911 around 12:50 p.m. Sunday to complain to police about his parents confiscating his Microsoft Xbox 360 as punishment.

"The Xbox caper started out as a 911 hang-up call," Buffalo Grove police Cmdr. Steve Husak said.

Police traced the call and sent an officer to the house where the teen inquired whether his parents had a legal right to take away his system.

Police then "advised him that he needed to listen to his parents," police reports said.

There's no indication of why the video game system was taken away or what the teen was playing. The Xbox, along with other up-to-date video game systems, include parental controls which can lock the system and prevent a child from playing.

I hope the parents now sold it.

Sell it? I'd leave random Xbox parts at conveniently, easy to be found locations. That'll teach him.

I thought that too at first....then thought how funny it would be if they just gave it away to some needy kid in front of his tearing up eyes.

I hope they tased him.
Nah...that would be letting him off too light.....they needed to do a Rodney King on him.

called 911 cuase his parents took away his xbox? gee...he's not spoiled..

"Police traced the call and sent an officer to the house where the teen inquired whether his parents had a legal right to take away his system."

:wow: Is he actually serious?

This kid is going to be a Future voter. Who wants to be $10 that this kid is Government Educated?

Probably wanted to make sure he wasn't an emancipated minor.

Taze him like he were a ten year old girl... :p

If you have another look you'll see it was a 911 hang up call.

They have to task a patrol over dispatch under those circumstances and treat it as worst case scenario.

Actually, I misread that one quote. I thought it said the police inquired, not the teen.

Ah, 'k.

Its funny. If he actually stayed on the phone and asked his stupid question he'd have only been told that 911 is for emergency calls only and the situation would have been resolved in 5 seconds flat.

Because he hung up the phone, whether it was because he realised he was an idiot or thought twice about how important a matter it was, or his mother yelled at him for being an idiot, whatever... it now cost a fortune and shifted large chunks of infrastructure/police man power just to check that he was ok all over his X-Box being confiscated.

5 seconds can be the difference between so much chaos... crazy when you think about it.

Next he's gonna charge interest on late allowance. :(

The I'd simply have him start paying rent.

Well technically, if he paid for it with his own money....

Ahh who am I kidding? Where is this kid gonna get $250 from?

Oh course it was an emergency, kid was probably about to get a nuke and prestige in Modern Warfare 2

I have decided not to prestige in MW2. Don't see the ponit really & the only way I will get a nuke is in a Cage Match or Custom Free For All LOL

Hmmm wrong thread but if you prestige you get more custom class slots and perk slots.

I don't see myself playing enough to care for those. Sure I plan on getting to 70 at least once but shortly after that happens Mass Effect 2 & Final Fantasy 13 will release but I will always come back to MW2 just not enough to want to Prestige I'd say

This is almost as bad as the kid that killed himself when his parents took away his iPod.

Or the kid that killed himself when his parents took away Fallout 3.

That **** happened?

Well, at least there is 2 less idiots on the planet.
