12 Internet First - Ohh How We've Come So Far

Anyone remember this game!?

One of the first games I ever remember playing on my windows 95 Hewlett Packard

In terms of old, OOP titles that I enjoyed and miss:

-Carnivores 2
-Carnivores: Ice Age
-Dark Forces II. Part of me kept hoping that LucasArts would give it an up-grade and re-release it. It would be nice seeing the quality of the cinematics boosted.
-Sim Zoo.
-Streets of Sim City. One of the best driving-adventure games.

Is there any websites dedicated to the boom of the internet in the mid/late 90's? A place that chronicles all the popular websites back then?

Not sure about that but you can try finding clips on Youtube on VH-1's I Love The 90's episodes.

One of my more amusing memories was playing Starcraft on my computer with a 100mhz processor on AOL with 28.8 modem.
I wasn't even able to listen to music while playing the game.. it was too much for my computer to handle.

I remember the first time I discovered file sharing. Through Napster/LimeWire/Kazaa

As a 12-14 yr old boy I put more porn viruses on my families home computer than I'd care to admit......

VMU downloads on the SEGA Dreamcast Web Browser were the shiznit.

My first online game: Chu Chu Rocket! Very addictive.

Know Your Meme is pretty good about tracing the origins of a lot of popular sites and phenomena.

Yeah, those were great back then. I also remember trying out something called Overnet at that time, it was technically built on some new stuff called torrent.

Overnet was underwhelming, hence me thinking this experimental torrent stuff was just a fad that wouldn't survive long..

I had no idea how to use e-mail until I went to college. When I first started using it, I thought it was the most incredible thing I had even seen. Then a few years later I heard that it was something that only old people use. College kids used IM.

I felt old. :csad:

Anyone remember the Goosebumps HorrorLand videogame that was for PC? I remember I could never finish that because that **** gave me nightmares lol

Anyone remember when Youtube didn't have ****ing ads. :o

I really wish I could play this again. Has it ever been re-released for modern PCs?

I miss how creative and eccentric people's personal websites used to be. Like a dude would take great pains to do something really clever to get hits, dress his dog up as a professor and have it dole out advice or lug his couch around the world to photograph it against different scenic vacation spots or something. Now everyone uses facebook and twitter, so no one sets up personal websites and everyone's just internet-lazy. :o

Remember the "Sega Channel"? hahaha. Back in 99 I had my first summer job and saved up allllll summer for my first computer: a compaq presario "internet pc." we had no ISPs in the area, so I had to use NetZero. Boy were my parents pissed when the phone bill came in.

Before the internet gave you all the information you ever needed, you had to put discs in.

I used this for almost every paper I had to write when I was in grade school.

I remember I wrote a sweet paper on the Snow Leopard and used this as my main source material.
