Why the thank you?
Because things are going a bit embarassingly slow in here, and they were good questions!
Have you ever heard and opinion that was so different from your own that you just instantly felt hated/anger toward the originator of the opinion? If so, what was your retort and if not, how did you hold your composure?
When I did Sociology in 1st year we were have a debate on "Survival of the Fittest" in Society. My argument was a don't think there was any such thing as "Survival of the Fittest" because there is a lack of a common platform, a lack of a level playing field, across the board.
Someone else was of the opposite opinion to me, completely unwilling to acknowledge how your habitat can mold someone and that we should just sterilise "the lower class of society".
I was shocked, I just went red and told him he was an idiot. How are meant to have a debate with someone when they are going to spout such extremist crap? There is no room for reasoning in cases like that.
What are your personal experiences with racism? Have you ever encountered racism yourself or only through media?
When I was working in the postal room of an office in 2006, I was friends with a Nigerian from a different department. He worked the hardest in his department and had the highest productivity out of them all. Yet when my workmate in the postal room got sick they forced my Nigerian friend down the ladder(I was only there a few months) into the postal room. That's institutional racism for you.
How have you managed to keep the discipline to lose so much weight? What was your primary influence?
For as long as I can remember I was overweight and was too young and immature to even care. I always went on diets but I was trying to please other people. I only started to become aware of how overweight I was when I turned 18 and was going to clubs with my mates. There they were with their designer clothes looking generally well and I was just a mess. Then one day I looked in the mirror and said "this is ****ing ridiculous, you're only 19 and look at you".
So I got the discipline from my own determination, my belief that I wanted to lose weight for me and no-one else. I didn't really have an influence or an inspiration, just a clear picture of where I wanted to be.
What makes you keep coming back to the Hype?
There is a great community atmosphere on here, I have never seen anything like it before. It's also great to read the views of people who obviously have vast knowledge on their beloved Super Hero's.
