I like the first one because the makeup looks better and the scars look more like...scars. On the second pic the scar looks more like a bad bug bite that's not connected to his lip.

I strongly disagree. While it looks more like the Joker than the 1st picture, it still doesn't scream comic book Joker to me. I tried it out with my sisters. I showed them pictures of comic book incarnations of the Joker and then the second picture and both of them said Heath's version really looked very little like the comic book incarnation.

But by comparison to the 1st pic posted, the second is miles closer to the comic book incarnations.

I just hate them both. Specially the second. Very un-Joker, quite Halloweeen fan's costume or fanfilm Joker.

The movie can still be great - as I suspect it's going to be - but those pics, just not.

I don't really see what the huge difference is. The basic look is the same. White skin, red lips, green hair, dark eyes, purple jacket.

Ok, this is a question to the rest of you guys. Which image is scarier. Try to disregard the whole about-to-stab Rachel thing in the second. Judge the Joker's image only.

I LOVE the first one and like the second one...

First one, hands down

the first pic is definitely scarier. it could be from the scarring or the dark background but this is MY favorite/scariest pick of the two pictures.

The red makeup around the lips is considerably different in the 2nd pic. WAY lighter and not as sloppy around the mouth. His face also looks less scarred, and there is a ton of skin showing through the white makeup because it's not thick enough. I don't dislike the 2nd pic, but it looks a little "weak" compared to the first pic, which I thought was absolutely perfect.

I'm much more afraid of the second. Scared that Joker would look really bad, if that counts for something.

i much prefer the second one. no particular reason why, i just do.

LOL. I agree. Too bad it took me until the second shot was revealed to appreciate the first one so much more.

Just as an aside, has anyone noticed how simialr the first official images from the film for Batman Begins

are?

I actually noticed this the first day it was released (7/27) but just didn't think to mention it.

It's kind of cool actually

In my experience, fan-Jokers try waaay too much to be like Mark Hammil/BTAS Joker, or Nicholson even, this, this is something else entirely

Definitely the 2nd one.

It shows the purple suit, gloves, green hair, and a great spoiler, too. Only off putting thing is it looks like the make up is self applied.

That Joker pic isn't the first official pic from TDK.

Aah. What does it mean?

...Now that you ask, I can't recall.

Apart of me wants to say that it was a mistake ...supposed to be THE puffy, but ended up coming out as TEH puffy, but I can't remember at actually...

I believe the first official pic of the Joker is the Joker's true appearence beneath the flesh-colored face-paint and clown face-paint on top of that. The first pic has the grayish tone to the Joker's face, that TDK Joker is supposed to have, no tan can be seen underneath, and the lips in the new pic look like their hiding the grotesque lips in older pic. The face in the older pic looks more damaged and natural, too. Also, the left side of the Joker's bottom lip looks kind of melted (as if by chemicals) in the older pic.
