My only remaining debates are about Miami, Cincinnati and New England since I'm not really confident as to who I think they'll pick.

Right now I've got Percy Harvin going to Miami where he would flourish in the wildcat but they could need the best defensive player available and a big WR target they can pick up in the second round.

Cincy is in a bit of a funk, since I don't see Oher or Smith as #6 worthy OT's, but they need help on that offensive line, but I also think they'll give Raji a long look as he could be a big run stuffing DT and anchor that D-line. Right now I see them reaching for Oher or Smith with the other OT going to Washington unless Sanchez falls to them.

NE has interviewed a lot of D-lineman. If Ayers is available, he's a Patriot. I could see them taking one of the USC linebackers if they're on the board, with Mattews having the bigger possibility of being on the board.

Harvin is really slipping right now. The Cowboys have taken him off their board and he may fall out of the first round. He could be on the board at the Dolphins first second round pick.

Smith's stock, on the other hands, is said to be rising. I think will end up in Cinci with Oher ending up in San Fran.

If Ayers is on the board, I agree - he is the Patriots guy.

If Harvin is there in the second round, where do the Dolphins go with their first round pick. Sintim? The linebacker out of UVA? Lauranaitis?

Probably a CB like Sean Smith, Alphonso Smith or Demetrius Butler.

You mean Darius? If that's the case, I have him going to Atlanta at the moment but I do agree that Miami will need help in the secondary. Alphonso Smith could be a good pick here with Tennessee going after a guy like DJ Moore to sure things up in their secondary.

Yes, Darius. D.J. Moore is likely to slide into the 2nd or even 3rd round. He is short and his 40 time is not impressive. I still like the guy, but his stock is down.

He could fit into that nickel slot and work his way up if the Titans feel their d-line is still solid despite the loss of Haynesworth. With them picking so low, an ILB like Lauranaitis would be an option to help Keith Bullock and pick up a CB or WR in the second round.

If Percy there at 34 he will be a Patriot.

I wonder if Bill is going to fall in love with Harvin's perpetually injured foot, too.

Please. Bills not about to have Joey Galloways 37 year old ass as his #2 wr for a unseasoned Brady. Plus, Randy could teach Percy how to not smoke bud in the NFL.

I actually agree with this they know talent when they see it. And think what he could learn from Randy and Welker

And Albert Haynesworth could teach B.J. Raji not to be a fatass.

Yesss!

It was a joke :o

Moss would probably light up with him before he did anything else; he'd prob get Meriweather, Hobbs, and Maroney in on it too. Then youd have the league "it was the weed that made em so god!" :down

No, Goddell would suspend them, but in the name of fairness, would suspend an equal amount of players from each weeks opponent. Then he would give the Patriots extra comp. picks in the draft.

Lions Meet With Aaron Curry’s Agents

Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 18, 2009, 7:20 p.m.
Wake Forest top-ranked linebacker Aaron Curry’s agents met with Detroit Lions team president Tom Lewand today at a minicamp practice, according to Nicholas J. Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press.
Michael Sullivan and Andy Ross, who represent the Dick Butkus Award winner, were reportedly in Detroit to discuss a prospective contract for Curry with team officials.
However, this development doesn’t necessarily mean that Curry will emerge as their pick since the Lions have said they’re going to talk with the agents for the other candidates to be picked No. 1 overall: University of Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford and Baylor offensive tackle Jason Smith.
When asked what the agents’ presence at practice meant to the team’s draft plans, Lions General Manager Martin Mayhew replied: “It means we’re talking to them, which we said we would do.”
Mayhew declined comment when asked if he had met with agent Tom Condon, who represents Stafford and Smith. Per the report, Condon has apparently been seen around Detroit lately.
Stafford is expected to wind up as the Lions’ pick, and has been telling former Georgia teammates that he expects to be drafted by Detroit and receive a contract that includes nearly $40 million in guaranteed money.

There's no way the Lions will select Curry. He isn't even the best 4-3 Middle Linebacker in the draft.

They will if Tom Condon is going to play hardball during negoiations for Stafford and Smith. Whoever has the lowest asking price is going to get picked.

Not true at all. I can tell you right now the order of who will demand the least amount of money - Curry, Smith, Stafford. Now the list of players the Lions are going to target goes Stafford, Smith, Curry.

It doesn't take any great deal of skill to look through the smokescreens and identify exactly what the Lions are thinking. Again, look at their moves- the Lions have added two tackles, two linebackers (one of them a Pro Bowler) and let two QB's walk away. They also let Cutler be traded with little attempt to obtain him, they let Cassel go to Kansas City when it would of cost them only a second round pick and, should the rumors about Brady Quinn be true, they aren't willing to trade pick 20 for another young, talented QB. Anyone who is willing to put two and two together can see that Stafford is the pick.

Now, there is still a chance Detroit does not pick Stafford. If he didn't want to go to Detroit, if his contract demands were ridiculous, if his agent was a dick. But that's not the case here either.

Tom Condon is one of the most respected agents in the country (as well as a former NFL player) and works FOR Matthew Stafford. His job is to get Stafford the most money he can. That's why he isn't going to force the Lions to pick someone but Stafford. The Lions lowest offer is going to be more than Stafford would get from Seattle.

Also, going back to the part about Condon working for Stafford, Stafford WANTS to be a Lion. That's key. He truly has a real desire to play with Calvin Johnson. His ego tells him he can change the Lions.

The Lions already know who they want to select. If the Lions aren't sold on Stafford now, they aren't going to pick him - if the Lions ARE sold on Stafford, it would be professionally negligent to not sign him. If the Lions are not sold on Stafford, they will select Jason Smith.

Aaron Curry may be the best defensive player in this draft, he may even be the best overall player in this draft, but he is not the best Middle Linebacker in this draft. If the Lions didn't get Peterson, they would have a need for Curry.

The Lions have the #1 pick, they will be meeting with EVERYBODYs agent.

It's worth noting that the Lions went out of their way to make sure the media saw Aaron Curry's management. There is no reason why the Lions would take an agent to the practice field besides showing it off.

Again, Curry is not going to be the pick. The Lions are using him purely for bate. The Lions will draft B.J. Raji before they draft Aaron Curry.

Mel Kiper Jr. could cost Staff #1...

A great deal of Mel Kiper Jr.'s problems with consistency have been with the quarterback position. For starters he said the following were all can't miss franchise quarterbacks: Alex Smith, Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Andre Ware and Jeff George. He said that Akili Smith was a better prospect than Culpepper or McNabb. He also said that Ryan Leaf had the right "attitude" to give him an advantage over Peyton Manning. Then you have the whole Jay Cutler scenario where he felt that Cutler was the most overhyped player in the draft and nowhere near as good as Matt Leinart or Vince Young. Here we are three seasons later and Jay Cutler threw for over 4,500 yards and made a Pro Bowl last season while Leinart and Young watched from the sidelines.

If I were the Detroit Lions then Mel Kiper's projected top pick would be removed from the board. The Detroit Lions have had numerous busts in recent drafts but most of them were rated very highly by Mel Kiper Jr. in his evaluations. He felt that Joey Harrington was a franchise quarterback, Charles Rogers was the second best player in his class and that Mike Williams was the best player in the 2005 draft and would have a Hall of Fame NFL career. Well Charles Rogers and Mike Williams are no longer even in the NFL while Joey Harrington is a career backup. So Detroit needs to take a history lesson and then stay away from Matthew Stafford who Mel Kiper Jr. is absolutely in love with at the moment.
