He's gotta find some way to win a playoff game first...like maybe the other team not showing up or something. :cwink:
With Mike Nolan's defense, Julio Jones with a year under his belt, and vets who want a ring in Turner and Gonzalez, I think my team will be meeting your team again in January, with a different outcome :cwink:

PLEASE AFC send someone, anyone to the SuperBowl but the Patriots, Steelers, or Colts.
Someone new needs to step up and represent the AFC.

Losing Ricky Williams still hurts, he had a very respectable year as the 2nd option & I don't know who we can plug in that slot. We need a good change of pace back to set Ray up.

It'll happen in the next few years. Ravens and Steelers are getting older and if Patriots draft picks not panning out especially defensively, you could see something with Houston. Maybe the Jets or Chargers if they can get their acts together.

I know the QB is the face of a franchise, but saying Matt Ryan has lost all his playoff games is a bit unfair really. I'd say the Falcons D and the coaching is what really lets the Falcons down in the Smith/Ryan era.

Plus every team they've lost to is eventual Superbowl finalists, 2 out of 3 of them being eventual winners. Just saying. :D

I'd like to see the Texans get there. I think if they stay fit, and carry on playing solid defense to match their explosive offense, they have all the components to make a deep run next year.

Like maybe a field goal instead of just a safety? :D

Did Turner and Gonazales...NOT want a ring this year or something? :oldrazz:

Until the team wins some playoff games, he won't be seen as a QB that can win them.....fair or not.

Just sayin'.

Eli wasn't so good in his first couple playoff games either. Remember this clutch-tastic early Eli performance? :oldrazz:

To answer your question, of course they wanted one, but it's hard to when when the guy calling plays was expecting a loss before kickoff. Also, as you know, the old vet who reaallly wants a ring can help a team in great ways. (See Strahan, Michael).

Yes, and he has had to prove that he (and his team) can win...in their case, two Super Bowls. Until they won, it was questionable if he'd turn out to be anything. So until the Falcons advance, they're the joke of this generation's playoff history, because they still haven't made it further than a one-and-out. That reflects on everybody...coaches, QB, etc.

So did anyone else who knew it was the Falcons playing. You know how you change that?

It also helped that a vet went away, too....see Barber, Tiki. See also veterans, free agents that went to the Redskins wanting to win, too.

Win some playoff games first, then they can reminisce on all the things that went 'better' and so on. Until then, they are what they're known for.

Ryan is in his 5th year though. Not trying to make comparisons but he hasn't even hit 200 yards in all 3 playoff games. Want to see how he does with a new OC.

Of course, in a conference with the so many dominant teams, and in the same division as the Saints and have to really shoot for the wild card.

Man, all this Giants ass-kissing is nauseating... I hope the other 31 teams in the NFL can do something to bring attention to this thread...

Something like

Jets firing Mark Sanchez & replacing him with Chad Henne - Uproar

Dolphins fire Matt Moore & bring in Manning - Well only ETM would care about this one

Les Sneed is coming to Saint Louis as GM. So glad, anyone can do better than Devaney.

There ya go. If the Falcons are going to have playoff success they need to win the division, they have a much better shot at playoff success if they have a home game.

KalMart, I agree that the Falcons do need to prove themselves in the playoffs, I think they will with the new staff. Mularkey was a cancer whose answer to everything was "Turner up the middle", even when the Falcons draft a promising change of pace back, Mularkey didn't use him, he also never ran screens, which slows a good pass rush. If you noticed, during the Giants game, the Falcons only success came when Ryan was calling plays from the line. I expect the Falcons to do big things next year, Mularkey being gone is the number 1 reason.

I don't think that team being at home would have helped this year. If it means that they can win the division over teams like what New Orleans was this year...then yeah, it'll mean they're actually quite formidable.

To be frank, I like Matt Ryan. It's just that if this many one-and-done's don't call for a major shakeup you have to wonder. And you can't really call Ryan's play-calling success because nothing came of it...not a single point. It was less worse, perhaps, but just as ineffective, so as you've stated, they'll need more help. Look at it this way, though...at least it ain't the Eagles. They HAVE to win it all next year or they might just fold the franchise. :D

Reports that the Steelers aren't keeping Hines Ward. I always like Ward. I know he wants to play more and is looking to redo his contract. Hate to see him go out like that. He wants to retire as a Steeler.

Yeah, Ward definitely shouldn't get big money and should accept a reduced role in the lineup, but I'd be genuinely sad to see him go to another team.

So far this is just a rumor....it's being reported by Jason La Canfora, and that dude is wrong more times than Miss Cleo.

Ward has said that he would play this year for vet minimum, and if they restructure his contract like this they would save about 3.8 million for the cap, but if they release him they would only save about 3.3 million, so hopefully they sign him for at least one more year. I would like to see how he would do with Haley.

But, I'll wait for official word form the Steelers FO about him.

Keep in mind though, the Falcons do not have to be the best team. The Giants certainly are not the best team in the league or even the NFC. They are just the team that got hot at the right time. That is all that NFL playoffs are. Who gets hot and when.

9 out of 10 times the Packers beat the G-Men, the Saints beat the 49ers, the Steelers beat the Broncos and so on and so forth. But that one time is all that matters. If the Falcons can get hot they can pull it off.

It's time to let him go. As a fan who is currently wearing a Hines Ward jersey it breaks my heart to say it, but look at the facts. 48 receptions this season, 381 yards, 2 TDs. This isn't the Hines Ward of two years ago. Even if he takes the vet-minimum that is still space on the salary cap that could be used elsewhere. Keeping him around for nostalgia's sake is a bad idea.

This is what I loved about Cowher. He made the tough decisions. He cut and traded players who were at the very beginning of their decline. He would've axed Hines last year when it was becoming apparent that he was starting to decline rather than wait for him to bottom out like he did this year. Cowher made the tough calls, but it is also why his teams were always consistent contenders. Cutting Hines is in the best interest of the team and it is time for Mike Tomlin to step up and show that he can do the same thing as Cowher and make a tough decision that puts the team first.

From Hines' perspective, he needs to quit deluding himself. Does he really want to stay on the Steelers and be an Ochocinco and have a season where he catches the ball 15 times or less? Or test the markets of free agency like T.O. and have an embarrassing workout that no one shows up to? Sometimes, you just have to know when to call it a career. It's not fun, but it is the nature of the game. I really hope that Hines doesn't stick around and embarrass himself.

Nothing but Haters in this thread, hating on Moore. He's better than Romo....at times....Romo chokes. And he dumped Jessica Simpson. The nerve...

Honestly, what is with the Matt Moore fascination? He's terrible. I can understand rooting for the likeable underdog... but... he's terrible.

Like I said, it really depends how this new OC does. I really thought they'd make it further in the playoffs this year, especially with them giving up the farm for Jones.

They say players die 2 deaths. The end of their career is not something that a lot of them can easily face. I really wondered if they won last year if he would of hung it up. Like someone says, he could easily be an ESPN analyst.

You're like a Caliendo sports fan caricature. It's eerie.:o

I'm a Panthers fan...therefore I'm a cheerleader for all Panthers QB's. Current or former.

But not Derek Anderson...whiner.
