Both disaster movies with interesting stories, but maybe not the best execution, but one thing they do both have are some amazing moments of destruction as well as the end of humanity as we know it, but with a new start for humanity at the other end as well. Both also recieved pretty average-poor critical receptions, but which one do you guys think was the better movie?

I have not seen either, and have no interest too either.

im glad theres the "hated both" option...

I enjoyed 2012 more.

haven't seen Knowing, but John Cusack >>>>> Nicolas Cage so......2012

I picked 2012 simply because Knowing wasn't a hardcore disaster film in my eyes. Overall, the 2012 was the better "disaster film" but Knowing was the better movie of the two.

While Knowing only had 2 really effective disaster sequences , they still looked fake. And by fake i mean animation which immediaty stands out. Bu then again Knowing cost like 60 million as opposed to 2012 which cost 200 million. Heck the earthquake scene of 2012 alone is longer then all the disaster scenes of knowing combined :hehe:
And 2012 had very good animation. Near flawless.

So my choice goes to 2012

2012. Easily...it had much more destruction and humor and "LOL yeah right" moments. Everything you need for a good disaster flick.

as flawed as those two movies were, I enjoyed both. or at least, they're better than Transformers 2 and Wolverine.

Knowing was entertaining due to the really scary and graphic plane crash, and Cage's overacting near the second half of the film.

2012 was a cheesefest, but the characters were surprisingly competent.

I would pick 2012 because I think it's more rewatchable.

i like knowing better... it had some mystery to it and had the balls to pull off an ending like that.

the girl who played Cage's sister was banging hot. (I kept making the joke that she was his daughter since she looked so young and he looked so old) so was the other lead girl.

Knowing had a better director...and a much more far out storyline...I'm not saying it's good, but it at least had more balls.

Knowing.

Alex Proyas... 'nuff said.

2012 really goes all otu when it comes to destroying everything . I've never seen Knowing because I need a break from Cage after Bangkok Dangerous .

I'll go with 2012. Stuff blew up real good and I didn't have to put up with Nick Cage.

Knowing.

Simply because
the world actually ended
in that one.

I chose 2012 because its the "better disaster movie of 2009?" IMO. Not the better movie.

As a previous poster said, I don't really see Knowing as a conventional disaster flick as such, hence my choice.

I enjoyed watching Knowing up to the final act. However I appreciate the movie isn't particularly great.

I didn't enjoy 2012 at all really, although you cannot fail to be impressed by the quality and scale of the CGI on show

Knowing is a good movie. 2012 looks like a POS.

I still cant decide at the moment, I definately think Knowing had the ballsier ending though.

:lmao:

IMO only to be ruined by the children being transported to some alien garden of eden.
Blegh

2012. the rate of disastrous mayhem is just much higher, and it's more fun.

For some reason I never thought of Knowing as a disaster movie until someone compared to two at work recently. I guess I always looked at disaster movies as being more natural disasters, but that isn't really the case. But yeah, 2012 I like more.

Yeah, a lot of people didnt like that aspect of the ending, but it had more balls than 2012 by actually physically destroying the planet.

For some reason a lot of people dont consider Knowing a disaster movie but I personally dont see how they cant, the amount of mayhem that ensues from the brutal disasters alone are testament to it being a disaster movie, not to mention to ultimate disaster of all happens at the end.

After seeing 2012, I can safely say Knowing was the better movie. But 2012 was fun.
