NBC the Olympics and Football don't need Ryan Seacrest.

This x 1,000,000. The real reason why the weather is going haywire in Denver? Mother Nature is pissed that NBC had the nerve to put Ryan Seacrest in an NFL broadcast.

And the half time show will be another opportunity for NBC to plug another one of their programming.

Well the Saints defense was/is atrocious.

But the way you seem to say that Eli and Flacco were along for the ride, you would say that would go double for Smith.

The 49ers defense blew the lead - twice - and Alex Smith had to pick up the slack.

Alex Smith is NOWHERE near the QB that Eli or Flacco is...

But on the same token, people are quick to label Eli and Flacco "elite" because those guys' TEAMS carried them to a Super Bowl victory, but Alex is considered a "game manager" when over the last couple seasons he's outgunned Stafford (2x), Eli, Rodgers, Drew Brees, Big Ben, Andy Dalton, Russell Wilson, Michael Vick, Freeman, and set NFL records in the process...

I love the continuous hatred for Flacco, no matter what he does he continues to get flack from nearly everyone not named Ron Jaworski. Just makes me love the guy more and it unites the team; Us Against the World worked well for us last season.

I don't hate Flacco. I actually like Flacco. Well, other than beating my 49ers.

But he's not elite. Speaking the truth isn't "hating". It's stating the facts.

Flacco isn't even a top 5 QB, let alone "elite".

That GE COMMERCIAL was the best part of this game so far.

While I agree that the elite moniker is thrown around too freely, I don't see how you can say that the Giants defense or running game carried Eli to the Super Bowl XLVI.

In 2011, I bring up the close to 5,000 yards thrown. The 27nd ranked defense and the 31st ranked rushing. But you still say that the Giants carried Eli. How?

You bring up the game against the 49ers and he still threw for 300 yards, 2 TDs and no INT. He threw for 3 TDs against the Falcons and 3 TDs against the Packers. I mean it just seems that the only game you really paid attention to was the NFC Championship.

In the Super Bowl, who cares that he only scored 1 TD, he had 75% completion out of 40 throws. Almost 300 yards. No turnovers. Tell me again how Eli was just around for the ride.

If this was 2008, it'd be a different story but Eli had a pro bowl season that year. Again, I don't care if you call him elite or not, but you make it sound like Eli is just lucky and relies on a stellar defense. But in 2011, the defense wasn't there during the regular season.

I'm obviously a Giants fan but I'm not misguided. I know Eli's regular season numbers aren't near his brother or Brees or Brady. But he's a 3 time pro bowler, has thrown the most 4th quarter TDs in a season, most yards in the post season, 2 time SB MVP. On track to 40k-50k yards and 300 tds.

I mean if you have a problem with the word elite that's fine, but his resume is up there.

I told you it's not about the #'s, it's about how he got those #'s. Same reason Alex Smith is still considered a game manager despite the NFL records he set the past couple seasons.

He didn't have a defense in 2011... and went 9-7 and only got into the playoffs because of the utter incompetence of the NFC East. Half of his points to get to the Super Bowl were gifted to him off of a fluke muffed punt and a special teams forced fumble. I don't care about 5,000 yards in the regular season. His team was barely passable and got into the playoffs more off of the incompetence of the competition rather than because of their own merits. I said he rode a defense, and an incredible string of luck. Eli is the model of inconsistency, the Giants are spotty at best about making it into the post season. I'm wholly unimpressed by Eli and his career, and I don't think there's any way he could take a team like Atlanta and have the same sort of success that Matt Ryan has had. He's probably the only 2x Super Bowl MVP that I look at that and say "meh..." about. He's the most mundane, uninspiring 2x Super Bowl MVP in NFL history, and if I'm being completely honest, I wouldn't want him on my team.

He didn't deserve the 1st SB MVP, Tuck did, but he's still better than Matt Ryan. Sorry to have to break it to you. Let's let Matty Ice make it to a Super Bowl before we anoint him.

I said after the Super Bowl XLII victory, if that's all he did, I'd be happy. He came through 4 years later. And will probably be a HOFer if he has the same numbers that's he has had for the past 4 years, when all is said and done and it'll mostly be because of his success in the postseason. But, it wouldn't be undeserved in the slightest.

Super Bowl wins are team accomplishments, not individual accomplishments.

You can't judge individuals solely on team accomplishments. Otherwise.... Dan Marino sucks.

I would probably take a 3rd of the NFL's current starting QB's over Eli.

You talk about Eli putting up 5,000, but Matthew Stafford actually broke the 5,000 mark, while Eli didn't. Should we crown Stafford now too because he carries his team?

Because Stafford certainly doesn't have the supporting cast or defense that Eli has...

You sure there isn't a little bitterness because of that NFC Championship?

Geno Smith to start for the Jets Sunday. Let's go live to Kanenumbersinname for a live report and analysis...

I'm not judging solely on SB wins. Not at all. I just think that if you are going to compare QBs who play in the same conference in the same time period, team success (especially on passing teams), or more accurately post season success, is something that is fair to bring up.

If you'd take 1/3rd of the starters over Eli, you either aren't watching the same football games I am or you're overly biased.

Jets starting Geno Smith was like the worst kept secret. And they are still going on how it's a competition.

Broncos are definitely missing Miller. No pass rush. Flacco seems to have all day.

No. I've -never- been overly impressed with Eli. And I even cheered for him in one of his 2 Super Bowls.

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Colin Kaepernick, RGIII, Russell Wilson, I would take any of these guys over Eli right now, no questions asked, and I wouldn't blink or have a 2nd thought about it.

Eli has had some remarkable runs which he deserves credit for, but he appears to be an above average qb at best the majority of days. It's not a case of Brady, Brees, Manning or Rodgers where they are on point every damn game. Eli seems to be below average half the time, and then breaks out the amazing every once and awhile - most crucially : When it matters. In some ways he's better than his brother. In most ways, he's not.

Looks like possessing the One Ring is really taking it's toll on Tony Dungy. He looks like he's due to take up residence in a Mithril mine so he can get into arguments with himself full-time.

At the very least, get him the hell off national television before Sauron takes notice and f**ks us all.

Good game right now, and damn, that Jacoby Jones collision!
