2014 NFL thread: The Final Battle

The old saying is if you get both hands on it, catch it. Wes Welker had both hands on it. Should have caught it. Simple to me.
Why didn't Brady just throw it near the shortest receiver he has? Why make it a difficult catch?

We're on to the Super Bowl, baby! LET'S ****ING GO!

Why does a pass have to be perfect for a WR to catch? It was good enough for him to get both hands on it, and without anyone near him. I think he did his job well enough. Gotta catch that pass

I'm enjoying this, especially after Sherman's and Chancellor's comments last week.

Suck it, Seattle.
:woot: Always wait to talk trash. :yay:

lol @ Russell Wilson wanting that big $$$ in the off-season. Gonna be a bit rougher now.
He threw two int (not counting it when the receiver causes it)...just like Rodgers. And then he came up huge when it really counted. I don't get why so many are reluctant to give him any credit while making excuses for guys like Luck and Manning.

Luck is a very good QB but he ain't elite yet. He's made some Sexy Rexy throws tonight. Andrew needs to stop being so gunslingy.
Agreed. I doubt he will ever change though. He reminds me of Manning, Favre, and Romo. The only thing he elevates in the playoffs is his rate of int's.
I agree 100%.

Either way, we'd be witnessing history. It's either the solidification of Brady as arguably the best quarterback of all-time or we get to see Seattle mark their place as one of the most powerful defenses in NFL history. That sounds like an awesome Super Bowl to me. The storylines write themselves.
Agreed. I don't mind either team so I'm fine either way.
How many teams have their first two super bowl rings back to back?
Green Bay immediately springs to mind. :woot:

I will be rooting for the Patriots in two weeks.

Brady deserves one more before he retires.

Seven.

Green Bay Packers--Super Bowl I and II
Miami Dolphins--Super Bowl VII and VIII
Pittsburgh Steelers--Super Bowl IX and X; And Super Bowl XIII and XIV
San Francisco 49ers--Super Bowl XXIII and XXIV
Dallas Cowboys--Super Bowl XXVII and XXVIII
Denver Broncos--Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII
New England Patriots--Super Bowl XXXVIII and XXXIX

Which means if the Seahawks win again this year, it will be the first time a team has won back-to-back Super Bowls in ten years.

Some of those teams won a superbowl ring before their back to back wins. :cwink:

Can't wait to see the Pats go down in flames once again.

That Seahawks win was a thing of beauty.

The problem was he had to jump backwards to just get two hands on it. It would have been a very good catch on a very poor throw. It was Brady's fault.

Did Marshawn Lynch take your lunch money, or something?

No other team in the NFL has had as much luck as The Seahawks this season. Wilson has fumbled 11x and recovered each one... somehow. He also throws lob after lob but they're are never picked off. They magically land into their receiver's hands every goddamn time.

Most of my frustrations are based on the fact that we've had them against the ropes but let them slip away from our grasp. Ugh. I can't wait for Carolina to finally be able to spend money on free agents that aren't rejects and outcasts.

Pats dismantled the Colts, Praise the Sun :D

We'll be underdogs for sure in the Super Bowl but think we have a chance. Our defense is great as well as out offense. Just need to contain the run from Lynch and Wilson.

Pre-game moment, but still funny as hell.

Sometimes a throw isn't perfect. Montana didn't make a great throw to Clark in the endzone against the Cowboys. That was a mile over his head, but Clark made it work. WRs don't get paid to only catch perfect throws. They get paid to make plays on the ball, and that was put in a spot where Welker could make a play. Reason we don't talk about Montana's bad throw is because Clark caught the ball. Welker didn't. I'd argue Clark's catch was hardwe to manage, but he did it. Like the saying says, get 2 hands on it, ya got to catch. I won't claim Brady's throw was great, but I have seen much harder catches made in playoff games on far worse throws.

That is why it is called "The Catch", not the throw. It is exactly why we credit great catches. We just went through this last week with Bryant.

It is almost insane to argue that wasn't Brady's fault.

Not saying it was all Welker's fault. But to say that throw was entirely Brady's fault I find to be insane because Welker had that ball in his hands. If we're going to say Brady could have made a better throw (which I agree, is his job), let's not forget that a WR when they have 2 hands on a ball is paid to catch it. It's a two way street.

And this is coming from a Browns fan. Believe me, we know about dropped passes.

Welker only had the ball in his hand because of his effort to get to the ball. It was why he wasn't able to catch it. He had to jump and stretch taking his concentration off the ball.

And of course the throw is entirely Brady's fault. Wes didn't throw the ball, Brady did. You want to say he dropped it? Fine. It is way off base, but fine. But he didn't throw the ball way off target. That was Brady, no one else.

Like I said, I simply don't agree. It was good enough for a play to be made on it. Not the best throw in the world by any means, but it is not like he threw it 40 yds off target to no man's land. So, I'm just gonna chalk this one up to agree to disagree :word:

If anyone was wondering, yes I am still breathing. Barely...

At the end of the day, at least your team still has a decent season to hang its hat on. Extending Cincy's playoff losses and upsetting Denver had to be nice.

With that being said, welcome to the offseason cemetery :woot:
