2015 was going to be one crowded year

I think they should release Star Wars, Avatar 2, Batman/Superman, Avengers 2, Ant-Man, James Bond, Jurassic Park 4, Terminator the reboot, Assassin's Creed all on the same day. And then Smurfs 3 the rest of the year..Just rerelasing Smurfs 3 every few months.

Terminator and Assassin's Creed would be forgoten :hehe:

It's just a bad year to release something like Assassin's Creed that COULD be good and refreshing.

Opps, I forgot Pirates 5. I still have a theory that either Star Wars will be a winter release, OR will take Pirates 5's spot, and push that into 2016.

Also, if I was Fox, I would just move ID4 2 to 2016 as well.

Star Wars is the ultimate summer film. It and Jaws are the forebears of the summer blockbuster genre.

It should be released in the summer as much as any film should.

Wasn't the first one released in Christmas?

Isn't it a bit sad that all the films we think will be major successes in 2015 are sequels and adaptations?

superman was also the ultimate summer movie in 2012 when we talked about the realese date. MOS could be realesed in december. and the same with Star Wars. will MOS make 300 domestic? i think we need to stop being so obssesed with the summer. its over. :woot::cwink:

hollywood studios have a way to big ego . enough with the summer.

Huh? Summer is over?

Well, as long as sequels and adaptations continue to dominate box office it would be stupid to stop making them. Sure, from a personal point of view it's kinda depressing looking at the list of all these sequels, knowing that most of them probably will turn out to be a big "meh". But obviously there's still a large audience out there who just want to be entertained and doesn't care much about originality

And fifth Mission Impossible movie will be very likely opening in 2015 if they does film later this year.

I dont want to sound mr.negativity but.....blargh. Give me new content. Or at least sequels to great content.

Star Wars doesn't have a great movie in 33 years. Supe-Batman -Goyer and Snyder- , Hunger Games ? , Terminator ...it's not Jim Cameron so what's the point ? JP4 ? After that comedy ? ID 2 ? (this one might be cheekily awesome) Fantastic Four ? Avengers 2 ? I've seen enough superhero crap to stop having any sort of faith in this. Pirates 5 ? That belongs to the list of movies that deserve to be avoided.

Ant-Man might be really good (because its edgar wright) and im interested to see what Mendes brings to the next Bond but the rest.....the past is not a great indication.

Give a great writer and a good director nice budgets hollywood. In time you will harvest new franchises built on quality , instead of name property.

Yeah but it's different from cbms to me. CBMS have more of a wider appeal while some people just aren't into things like Star Wars and Star Trek. Although, I know the former will make a lot more than the latter did. I think I'd get more people excited if I told them Superman/Batman and Avengers: Age of Ultron was coming in 2015 than Star Wars Episode 7 right now. I'll have to try it out. Of course that can change come 2014-15, but I'm talking about now.

Just saying that means nothing. Star Wars is out of the lime light right now but can be much more powerful. Did Superman make near what Star Wars did back in the 70's? Or B89? No. People change fads. They go where ever the new fad is. Not saying that is a bad thing. But the CBM thing has been going on for 15 years almost and it will be time for another change ect. The PT is the reason that people are not as jacked about it because for many that was their only experience with Star Wars.

I think you are underestimating it's draw. It's a universal story/universe with no ties to nationality. Now with China even more so I think they will do well.

I just think some of the younger generation don't see what we saw with it for certain reasons of the modern ones not living up to what made the OT such timeless classics. It seems like they are on the good path with this one so I think Star Wars will come back strong. JJ's last BO have nothing to do with what he's doing now.

Huh? Hunger Games was pretty good, definitelly one of the sequels worth being excited for.

It stars a girl, duh. :o

Okay. I just mentioned that I have encountered people who love cbms but aren't into sci-fi. And if I were to tell them AOU or WF as opposed to SW7, they would likely get more excited for the former movies than the latter at the moment.

Superman/Batman is a different animal from the old Superman and Batman movies. I'm aware of how big Star Wars is but with the current popularity of cbms and how significant the first live-action meeting between the two most famous heroes actually is, I'd say it's unfair to compare WF to older solo movies like Superman and Batman. You say Star Wars has universal draw and that is very true, but it's also just as true when you're dealing with the two most known superheroes on the planet.

I'm not underestimating Episode 7 at all. As I have explained in a previous post, I know it will probably earn at least a billion and be in the top 3 highest grossing movies of 2015. Never said anything about JJ's last BO earnings. I just don't think Episode 7 will earn more than Superman/Batman or AOU. That could change in time. We'll have to wait and see.

I think with the onslaught of movies coming in summer 2015, studios need to space them out. There's going to be too many options at the same time, and a few are going to disappoint or outright bomb.

If some movies can afford to be bumped up a few months, like a sure bet sequel (like 'Batman vs. Superman'), then they should take advantage of it. March 2015 has only one movie per weekend (and 3/20 is up for grabs), and April is a clear field now. Not to mention Avengers: Age of Voltron will be winding down by the fourth weekend in May, and nothing is scheduled for May 22 or May 29th yet.

I doubt Episode VII will take that Memorial Day spot, but we'll see.

I don't think Pirates 5 should come out in 2015.

If any big movie that takes the week after it then it probably shouldn't. However, its OS could still be big enough that Disney wouldn't care.
