2015 was going to be one crowded year

If any big movie that takes the week after it then it probably shouldn't. However, its OS could still be big enough that Disney wouldn't care.

Superman/Batman might take the week after.

I think Superman/Batman will get that July 17 spot too. But with a new regime at WB, they may rethink that mid-July spot after Robinov's ouster. Add in Pacific Rim breaking the consistent track record of WB's mid-July films (around six straight years) being some of the biggest films of the year.

If SW7 doesn't get slotted for summer, let alone Memorial Day weekend, I think WB could try releasing 'Batman/Superman' in late May 2015. Or WB could try a spring release, and seriously clean up there.

The Conjuring was their mid July hit this year.

As successful as The Conjuring has been and will be its not really comparable to the batfilms, Harry Potter, or Inception or what they were likely looking for in Pacific Rim.

That's what I meant.

Same here. Disney has enough heavy-hitters for that year. More than enough, really.

Yeah but they just can't can that franchise. It will have been over four years since PoTC 4. How long can they put it off? I think you need to have it ready for that summer, but next summer is possible I guess.

I think F4 is going to be a hit with 450 million WW.

I haven't heard anything on that front. I mean, there's more progress on 'Superman/Batman' and 'Episode VII' in terms of development than there is on the F4 reboot. (And those movies will come out 3-4 months later, if the F4 reboot sticks to its March 6, 2015 date.)

The only thing I've heard about the F4 reboot are two casting rumors and numerous writers coming on. I'm wondering if Fox will push it back or replace it with something else.

I fully expect some internet wanderer to stumble upon a post-apocalyptic landscape with broken avatars and worn away signatures everywhere.

"What was this place" they will ask.

"This was SHH! until the summer of 2015...."

Looking at Box Office Mojo, the Top 10 All-Time Domestic box office champions are:

1. Avatar
2. Titanic
3. The Avengers
4. The Dark Knight
5. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
6. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
7. The Dark Knight Rises

8. Shrek 2
9. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
10. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

1-7 are pretty revealing. It consists of:

- Batman
- Star Wars
- The Avengers
- James Cameron

2015 consists of:

- Batman/Superman
- Star Wars: Episode VII
- The Avengers 2

^ Three movies all fighting their way for a spot in the Top 10 of All-Time.

I don't think a year like 2015 has ever happened before.

It could either be unprecedented with audience turn-outs, or it could be three juggernauts canceling each other out because they have to share too many tickets, resulting in a disappointing year.

If Avatar 2 were coming out in 2015, it would be almost catastrophic.

I have a feeling that 8-10 are being bumped off without a doubt (Shrek 2, E.T., Pirates).

There's a chance DMC could fall out of the top 10 in a few months.

Its fascinating that ET still rates in the top 10.

That surely was a monster hit, bigger than Titanic in terms of ticket sales (at least domestically) It was released in June and in early December you could still find it at the top of box office.

I had to look up a bit to see this stands for Dead Man's Chest, for a moment I thought it stands for Devil May Cry

The year the box office blew up... :woot:

How do you think F4 will do?

I know you're not asking me but I'd go ahead and say not that 450 you are saying. Casting for that movie will be huge because Trank just isn't a big enough name for a director yet.

You can still sell it by saying from the director of Chronicle.
