2015 was going to be one crowded year

After watching MI3 and MI4 just recently(thought both were great), I'm now eagerly anticipating MI5. Is that actually coming out in 2015?

I think so.

Feels good to have a solid release date for Superman/Batman. July 17th, 2015. Beautiful.

Yup. That date was inevitable IMO because WB loves that 3rd weekend of July.

This will be WB's biggest film to date just like Age of Ultron will arguably be Disney's biggest. I truly feel that both studios and crews involved will put all they can into their respective blockbuster behemoths, because neither will want to be shown up by the other. These movies are both the second efforts of Whedon and Snyder, and should be billion dollar franchises. Whedon seemed to have the upper hand when it came to writing, but now that Affleck is involved then that's when things get more even. Looking forward to the epic summer clash of Age of Ultron vs. Superman/Batman.

I don't include Episode 7 in there because I'm referring to cbms.

if those 3 big movies are realesed from may to july one will underperform hard. haaaard.

Blockbusters make the bulk of their revenues in the first 10-17 days of release so the big three of 2015 should be fine. Everyone is going to see Avengers, Star Wars and SvB in the first ten days, they'll have massive opening weekends followed by big second weekends and likely a respectable third weekend. It is the other films that are likely to under-perform and could get get hurt by being in that 10-17 day window.

These franchises are the ones to avoid which should make things interesting as studios try to find space in the summer for their other films. Just look at November 2015, three films are crowding around November 6 to avoid Hunger Games on November 20. No one wants their second weekend/week hurt but that film.

Now SvB opens the second weekend of Pirates 5's run and it should brush it aside domestically. Internationally it should be a tighter fight - plus the dates will vary a bit. Disney may adjust the domestic release date. Lots of time to go.

The Avengers are out May 1 so by Memorial Day weekend, May 22, it will have earned the bulk of its North American gross. On May 22 Disney can release Star Wars and enjoy another 3 weeks of dominance (potentially). On June 19 they'll have a Pixar film. Pirates 5 comes out July 10, enough space away from the Pixar film. And that will be that for their summer slate. They will have four films that potentially could earn domestically $200+ million (Pirates), $250+ million (Pixar), $300+ million (Star Wars) and $400+ million (Avengers) with potential for more.

We've wait 19 years for a sequel. I think we can wait for 20. Which would be weird to think about. 20 years for a sequel that no one asked for.

So, Ant-Man got moved up from November 6, 2015 to July 31, 2015. Earlier releases ftw. Summer 2015 just got a tad more interesting.

Its still ballsy. Someone at Disney probably thinks they have good odds of going against Superman/Batman.

( or they have some other, bigger, movie they want to stick in the November slot. . . )

A two week span is fine unless Superman/Batman is amazing and people go back again and again like they did with TDK and TA.

It is hard trying to anticipate the success of the Batman/Superman film since the only thing it has going for it is the cast. I would list Snyder as a plus for the project, but, he needs to stop trying to emulate Nolan and go forward with his own vision ( a la Watchmen.) It would good money, make no mistake, but, I doubt it will top the Avengers 2.

Ant Man doesn't have to do gangbusters to be successful. It's budget will probably be somewhat smaller than other Marvel movies. It only needs a couple of good weeks to be successful.

antman im thinkin like a 140mill budget like the first cap movie.so if it does like 150 or 170mill domestic they be happy with it.edgar wright has made a movie yet that made over a 100mill though that worries me

But Edgar Wright has the right sensabliites to be that 'tentpole' type director. Usually his pacing is great and there's almost a young Sam Raimi spirit in his style.

There should be a bit of worry that Ant Man will get forgotten as people get hyped for Batman/Superman. I know it doesn't have to be a massive hit...but with it being the first film of Phase 3, they don't want it to tank.

It just has to resonate, which by the way, not a lot of movies did this past Summer.

how cute. Antman in july is a mistake. Antman 2 weeks before Batman/Superman is idiotic.

because Marvel made some good movies some will now try to act that batman/superman is just another summer action movie? B/S this movie will be big...........as big as it can be.

Curiosity of them being together in the same movie can only go so far. If it sucks then its legs will be very short.

How much money are we talking about? Because if the budget is similar to Iron Man 1 and Cap 1, then it should at least get $160 at domestic box-office to be considered as moderate success.

If GOTG does well next year, then maybe Ant Man will have the same success in 2015.
