Yep, as title suggests.

2016 Libertarian Candidate for President Gary Johnson, has a new video out on Facebook via NowThis Election. In less than 24 hours it has clocked just over 1 million views.

So, some updates.

Johnson is polling at 11% in a 3-way contest via Monmouth University.

A new national poll from Monmouth University explores how things would shake out in a three-way contest between Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and libertarian hopeful Gary Johnson. While support for Clinton and Trump far outpaces love for the Libertarian Party (LP) candidate, Johnson did wind up polling in the double-digits, with support pulled from both the Trump and Clinton camps.

And some more mainstream love. This time from NBC News.

In fact, some people who have already run for president but dropped out have considered the Libertarian ticket. Nicholas Sarwark, the chair of the Libertarian Party, said "several" former presidential candidates have approached him about running for the nomination. He declined, however, to name which of the former candidates he says have reached out.

Is the Liberitarian party any good?

Is the Liberitarian party any good?

Chances are you will 100% agree with them on a few issues but find they go way to far on other issues. Just think of a most extreme positions on fiscal conservativism and socially liberal

I don't think they go that far in those areas specifically, but more in the two areas of "government intervention" and "foreign policy". As far as Social issues they are very close to Democrats, and as far as Fiscally, they are what the Republicans wish they could be....but in the other two areas that I mentioned, they do go to the extreme....as in little to no government intervention and isolationism.

I like the green party but they have only been on my radar for the last 3 or so years

Although it's not getting much press, there is a chance for a Democratic broken convention is high, especially if Clinton if indicted.

The FBI's conviction record when they spend a lot of time and resources on a case is excellent.

So it could be a brokered convention or Sanders going 3rd party.

Sanders isn't going third party for the same reason that Trump won't. A lot of states have sore loser laws to prevent that from happening.

Sanders could be a more popular version of Ralph Nader.

If more comes out that visibly damages Clinton, and Sanders is close in terms of the popular vote, you can't rule out him not going the third party if Hillary gets the nomination.

Making Sanders her VP pick would be the smartest thing Clinton could do, as the left has a way of not voting when their candidate or message isn't being heard.

Dems will fall in line and vote Clinton in the general regardless of a Sanders VP pick, ironically nullifying everything Sanders stood for. Conservatives are the only ones that need to worry about split votes with third party candidates.

No way Sanders agrees to be Hillary's VP after all this time he's spent being her opponent, and dragging her through the mud on big money issues.

If she seals the nom she'll probably pick a younger person of color that's no more to the left than she is, like Julian Castro or Cory Booker. Or if not maybe Tim Kaine, who is white but speaks Spanish.

edit: Unrelated but after seeing chaseter's avatar right above mine, I think we are the clear winners of the political-themed avatars on this site. :p

I'm thinking about changing it to that gif where Bernie scares Trump.

I have a feeling that Clinton may go with a younger VP pick....strengthening the party for a later date. Hopefully a stronger, younger VP pick than Daddy Bush chose.

Except you can rule him out. Too many states will not let him run as a third party or independent because of him running in the Democratic primary. And making Sanders VP is really ****ing stupid as well, he brings nothing to the table for Clinton as opposed to Biden for Obama or Cheney for Bush did. He's too radical, has no real actual experience in governance, etc.

Or Clinton has the support of women and minorities. Sanders has the liberal support and the support of the most educated voters. He also brings some much-needed integrity to the ticket. Combined they would be a powerful force to get out the vote.

I'm not saying Sanders would accept it, but as you know the VP has very little real power.

As for experience, Clinton did NOTHING as a Senator. Just three obscure bills became laws. That's it.

So Gary's been in the news even more, mostly online. Some recent stuff.

Ordinarily, the Libertarian Party – which has a ballot slot in all 50 states – is relegated to afterthought treatment, but if there’s a sizable number of Republicans who just can’t bring themselves to back Trump’s ridiculous candidacy, and they don’t feel comfortable voting Democratic, it’s not outlandish to think at least some of these voters will give Johnson a good, long look.

He was on MTP yesterday for 5 minutes.

And to go along with the MSNBC article had this CNBC one as wel.

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/05/04/here...n-google-after-trump-triumphed-over-cruz.html

Libertarian Party and Gary Johnson searches on Google went up big time after Cruz dropped out.

Gary Johnson will spend $150K on ballot access for the LP this year.

So perhaps he has gotten a donation surge? I know his private lunches and dinners and fire side chats have been selling out lately according to facebook. And those cost money to attend.

He's also had some artciles on Reason and other places online as well like...

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/l...nominee/article/2590367#.VypEsBFj-70.facebook

So more people are joining the LP and donors as well to LP. Still not a lot, but a jump is a jump.

Between 7 p.m. Tuesday evening and noon on Wednesday, the Libertarian Party received 99 new memberships. For the same time period a day earlier, the LP received only 46 new memberships.

Benedict also provided the Examiner with the LP's official membership report through the month of April, showing a drastic increase in new donors as the primaries started and it became increasingly clear that Trump would be the nominee. In April 2015 (an off year), the LP signed up only 106 new donors. From April 2015 through January 2016, the LP averaged 114 new donors per month.

But in February 2016, after Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina held their caucuses and primaries, the LP saw 323 new donors. In March they had 546 new donors, and in April, after everyone but Trump, Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich had dropped out, the LP signed up 706 new donors.

So Gary will be in more polls...

While the CPD’s co-chairman said he can’t tell pollsters what to do, he said Johnson has a “legitimate concern if polling companies aren’t” including outside candidates who could reach viability.

“My view is they should include him,” Fahrenkopf said of future polls. “This certainly creates an obligation for some of the polling companies to look very close in including him to figure out if his [support] is real.”

The commission will release the names of eligible polling groups sometime around early September after consulting with experts at Gallup, he said.

Many pollsters release their data in conjunction with a media partner and decline to comment on their methods. But several interviewed by The Hill indicated they may include third-party or independent candidates in the future.

Ipsos, which partners with Reuters for a national tracking survey, said it has begun poll-testing Johnson and will have results shortly. If Johnson polls well or gains in strength over time, the firm could potentially make him a permanent fixture, Ipsos Vice President Chris Jackson said. A survey testing Romney is also forthcoming.

And Suffolk’s Paleologos, who partners with USA Today for a national poll that has been used by the CPD before, said his team has several metrics in place that could land a third-party name on his survey.

I admire your tenacity ETM.

I do like the craziness of John McAfee over Gary Johnson.

Johnson is the safer bet. For 5% of vote and funds by getting that 5% for 2020.

However, Petersen and McAfee should make it mulitple ballots before Johnson clinches it.

I folllow all three on Facebook. Johnson has round 427K likes, Petersen 81K l, and McAfee with like 22K. I also follow Stein of Green Party on Facebook and then other libetaruan and Republicans I think...like Huntsman. The Pauls.

Johnson will be on The Joe Rogan Podcast next Tuesday. He was on Penn Jillete Sunday School yesterday.

Johnson at 10% in new national poll via FOXNEWS

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...on-both-seen-as-deeply-flawed-candidates.html

Trump at 42%, Clinton at 39%, Johnson at 10% in 3 way.

What about former Republican governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson, who is favored to top the Libertarian Party ticket? He ran in 2012 and received almost one percent of the vote nationally.

The poll finds Johnson garners 10 percent in this hypothetical three-way matchup. But that wouldn’t change the race, as Trump still holds the edge over Clinton: 42-39 percent.

And he has a running mate.
