2016 Presidential Third Party Discussion Thread.

For anyone who is interested, Johnson's speech and Q+A session from Liberty University this morning, is on his Facebook page. It was a coronation gig and he drew a bit over 12,000 attendance. :yay:

Listening to it right now, pretty good.

That video was just freaking sad. The moral of this video is don't vote for the candidate you believe in or agree with. Vote for the Hillary because they all suck and they won't win anyway. This is the reason why nothing changes and the same tiny hand full of people that get anointed by the party leaders keep cycling in and out of office.

I think the point of the video is there are only two parties cause no one actually wants to build a party. These are just individuals who show up every four years to make noise.

The tea party has shown it's possible to elect fringe candidates into state and national houses but these third parties only really make investments at the one time people are least likely to listen or hear them.

To be fair, Johsnons and Stein are both REALLY bad options.

If nothing else it would just be funny seeing the blue/red map with this weird color for Utah.

Yellow. It has to be yellow. Green won't work because Utah doesn't want to be associated with hippies. And Purple is for a red state that leans blue.

Yeah...misleading headline and article. He is still campaiging for LP ticket.

Apparently, the recent CNN poll that has Johnson at 3% likely and 5% registered, once again, had N/A for 18-34 polling. So a useless poll there. Other national polls have us at 4-8% nationally. And it is USELESS when you aren't polling a entire age group. Wasn't just Johnson, it was also nob18-34 being polled for Clinton, Trump, and Stein.

Weld, I believe is at a rally today in Alaska.

This is a direct quote from Weld in the article:

“Every citizen must be aware of the power and responsibility of each individual vote,” Weld writes. “This is not the time to cast a jocular or feel-good vote for a man whom you may have briefly found entertaining.”

How is that in any way misleading? Pretty obvious what he means with that statement.

He is talking about Trump there. The way it is worded, it is talking about one man, not two men.

Even Snopes updated and says this is all BS.

On 25 October 2016, Weld issued a statement about the presidential campaign, strongly criticizing Trump but stopping short of endorsing Clinton:*

From Johnson campaign.

https://www.johnsonweld.com/the_democratic_media_machine_is_at_it_again

“Several web sites and media outlets have seized upon Governor Bill Weld’s statement from a news conference Tuesday in Boston to jump to conclusions that are wishful thinking, rather than reality.

“Led by Occupy Democrats, a well-known mouthpiece for the left, *the sensationalists and wishful thinkers are re-writing Gov. Weld’s forceful condemnation of Donald Trump into a suggestion that voters should support Hillary Clinton. That is absurd.

“Governor Weld and Governor Johnson are campaigning nonstop, with rallies and appearances scheduled over the next few days across the country from Alaska to Cincinnati, and are fully committed to giving voters the third choice they deserve in this election.*

“Any suggestion to the contrary is the product of active imaginations and partisans in both the Republican and Democrat camps who see how many independents, millennials and other disenfranchised voters are looking to the Johnson-Weld ticket as a vote they can cast in good conscience.*

“Governor Weld has made clear from day one his fear of a potential Trump presidency, just as he has made clear his policy differences with Hillary Clinton. The only candidate he is urging voters to support for President is Gov. Gary Johnson. Period.*

“The wishful thinkers need to take a break and start wishing for something else, because the Johnson-Weld ticket is not giving an inch to Donald Trump OR Hillary Clinton.”

And...

The Most accurate poll of 2004, 2008, and 2012 still has Johnson at 8%. The poll? IBD/TIPP.

I can read exactly what he said and he def implied now is not the time for a "protest" vote which is exactly what a vote for their party is. He knew damn well what he was saying when he said it.

He has integrity, I'll give him that. Gary Johnson is a joke.

Weld came in late.. unfortunately.. but if he had been the Liberty ticket man this whole race would have been turned upside down. The man was a hugely popular republican! gov. of Mass. - - Landslide re-election as well.

Nope. Got a campaign email from Weld. He says in his statement Occupy Democrats spinned it. Weld is for Johnson and LP ticket.

He saying don't vote for Donald Trump because you find him entertaining. You just projecting your own political interpretation onto it.

I'm really bewildered at the support for Johnson. The man has clearly never had experience in politics (i.e. he ran a construction company prior) and every time he gets a proposed bill that increases the state budget -- he vetoes it. He's all about privatization and not governing much at all.

Stein isn't that much better.

These are two of the worst third party candidates that I have ever seen.
