So a friend of mine just happened to meet a dude working on the cgi for Green Lantern at a bar and asked him how it was going along. Supposedly the guy wasn't too psyched and said that he's not sure if it'll be done in time for the release date. But rest assured everyone is working their asses off in time for deadline. That's all I could get out of my friend.

^ Not down here there isn't, I went to 3 theatres yesterday and only one was playing a 2D session, and it was only one session. People won't want to be bullied into paying for something, and that's what they are clearly trying to do.

You ever think that the fact that there was only one screen in 2D means that there was little demad for that format? Force or not if people don't want to see somethng they don't have to and the theaters would just lose money.

People are dumb though...

People saw 3D as a cool gimmick and swarmed the cinemas to see everything in 3D. Now 3D is old but the cinemas haven't realised (or don't care) so only show movies in 3D now. Even if a 3D movie only pulls in half a screening that's still almost as much money as a full 2D screening in their eyes.

Not only that, but people don't understand the way they spend their money is the way they vote. A friend on mine is perfectly willing to spend $10 on those 3D glasses that have been converted to 2D glasses so she can watch a movie in 3D if her friends see it in 3D or the movie is not available in 2D. Spending money like that says people will watch 3D movies. Not everyone will skip a movie if they can't see it in 2D. That results in a vote for 3D.

Did you ever think that it's being forced upon people? 1 2D session in 5 theatres is not about catering to demand, if you can't see that then there's no helping you.

You shouldn't have to do that though. It's about choice, split it 50/50 or near about. People want to see 3D, fine, but give the option for those who don't want the cinema going experience to be an annoyance.

No, that's not good marketing and probably not likely. If people didn't like the format (3D) there would be no demand for it and theaters would lose money. That is obviously not the case since the theaters are still there (supply does not drive the market, demand does). As it turns out, Thor 3D made $5.8 million in Australia, which is actually by comparison 1% better than what "Iron Man 1" did in 2008, and 30% better than what "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" did in 2009. I know how you felt about the picture, but we shouldn't really worry about the end result of "Thor" until we see the U.S. domestic box office take the first couple of weeks after its release.

You are one of the most bizarre people on the Hype. For whatever reason you always misinterpret facts and figures to suit whatever it is you're debating and stubbornly refuse to accept anything other than your side of the argument, even when the evidence is clearly to the contrary. So I'm not gonna waste my breathe with you any longer, believe whatever the hell it is you want to believe, I don't really care anymore.

What figure did I misinterpret? I got those numbers from Nikki Finnk over at Deadline Hollywood. It is you who doesn't want to believe the facts, which is bizarre at best. I use numbers and references to give myself credibility. Unless you can come up with some real numbers, you've got some nerve calling someone bizarre.

It does add to the cheesiness of any flick, but GL is tailor made for 3D. The ring "turns thought into reality," as the Geoffrey Rush-voiced Tomar-Re declares, and 3D only adds to the authenticity of what the ring creates. I wouldn't see other CBMs in 3D.
