Exclusive: ‘300’ Sequels Could Go Beyond Ancient Greece Says Zack Snyder
The director sees the ‘300’ style carrying out to other famous battles.
MATT GOLDBERG said:
A couple weeks ago, we reported that Snyder was interested in making a movie about George Washington in the style of 300, and it turns out the Revolutionary War isn’t the only battle he’s been thinking about. Steve spoke with Snyder at the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice junket today, and here’s what the director had to say:
Do you think there will be another 300?

ZACK SNYDER:
There may be. There may be. We’ve been talking a lot about sort of different incarnations of 300. We’ve been talking about is there a way, possibly, we move out of Ancient Greece and use it as a framing device for other conflicts that happened throughout history.

I think I mentioned that we talked about the Revolutionary War version, and we talked about the Alamo, and we’ve talked about there’s a battle in China, a “Lost Legion” kind of concept, any of those kinds of things are on the table.

Something from imperial china or ancient Japan or a Roman battle could be fun. I have very little interest in an Alamo film whether it's 300 style of like the one Dennis Quaid starred in.

If they keep Frank Miller involved, then I'm ok with it.

I've always wanted a bad-ass Revolutionary War movie.

I hope they go with that title.

I liked the previous Alamo film with Billy Bob Thornton, but nobody else saw it.

I thought it was okay. Personally I prefer Disney's version from Davey Crocket: King of the Wild Frontier. I understand that the John Wayne version is supposed to be pretty good too.

I actually think a retelling of The Alamo done in the style of 300 would be interesting to watch. Imagine Davey Crocket coming face to face with the leader of the Mexican army and screaming "THIS! IS! TEXAS!" (Santa Ana I think? Or Santana? Been a long time since I'd seen either version of the story so I'm a little fuzzy on the details)

I would see 300: Remember the Alamo purely for the sheer insanity of it, along with the knowledge I would hopefully be laughing at it.

300: The Battle of Cloverfield 2, Electric Bugaloo.

After Batman v Superman, i realy don't want Zack Snyder doing Justice League. If the studio takes him out of that project, would realy like him to do a new 300 movie next. Anyway, didn't the last film lead into the possibility of a third film? Or has the Xerxes storyline been completed.

Xerxes is still alive. The ending was basically Queen Gorgo arriving with reinforcements for the final battle.

I don't think it really matters how the last movie ended. The article is about Zack Snyder giving the story of Davy Crockett and The Alamo the 300 movie treatment. And I for one would be very interested in seeing him tackle that particular piece of history. Only question is whether or not he's going to go with the Disney ending where Crockett is fighting to his last breath using his musket as a club? Or is he going to go with the Billy Bob Thornton ending where Crockett is captured and then executed? Or will they have Crockett make a break for it and being run down and stabbed to death by a pair of mounted lancers? (The last one actually has some historical documentation to back it up, but I always kinda preferred Disney's more heroic version).
